there’s an ongoing debate in several regions regarding whether “legendary” pokemon are simply incredibly elusive species, or single individuals. generally, the consensus is that palkia, dialga, giratina, and arceus are definitely the only pokemon of their species. as for others, that has been more difficult to discern.

one of the few scientifically proven pokémon to have a known subspecies is zangoose. in the hoenn region, there is a small population of zangoose that have purple claws. scientists are currently researching what might’ve caused this potential mutation.

many pokemon have a tendency to form strong friendships with others, especially in diverse habitats with many pokemon. one example is lotad and squirtle, who have been observed in recent years playing with one another.
