My friend @sunlightsymphony has made a beautiful podfic of Lonesome Road - it’s a joy to listen to. This angsty Zimbits fic with a happy ending is one of my favorites. I wrote it for the Heartbreak Fest in 2017, so please note the tags/tw. Enjoy the podfic, it’s amazing!
Summary: After rehab, Jack leaves home, unable to face his parents and the legacy he failed to uphold. He gets work as a truck driver and enjoys the relative solitude of it for a few years, until the day he picks up a hitch-hiking runaway from Georgia.

Summary: Admittedly, Kent thinks, as Jack’s fist slams into his gut, that one might have been below the belt. In which Kent has a cunning plan, Jack shows affection through roughhousing, and the Las Vegas Aces despair of their captain.
I heard about the @podfic-please fest a little under 2 weeks before the closing date for submissions, and idly thought “oh, that’s cool, but I probably won’t have to make anything”. Then, due to a lucky break in my schedule, I was able to furiously record and edit my first podfic in six days, right up to the deadline.
It was a pretty instant decision to go with AugustaByron’s work break the lock if it don’t fit, which features one of my favorite versions of Parse (dramatic, hilarious, asexual, and breaking the dumbass scale) , several lovely LV Aces, and a ridiculously endearing mending of bridges between Kent and Jack.
It would delight me to no end if you decided to give my podfic or the original text version of this work a try! (also check out everyone’s else amazing works in this fest!)

In celebration of @podfic-please, I made moodboards of the fics I recorded. I needed a distraction tonight, so I recorded a FOURTH fic (this one is only like 16 minutes–I couldn’t do a 45+ minute fic on this kind of a whim). The one I recorded tonight is, as you could probably guess from the moodboard, “One of These Nights Jack Needs to Get Some Sleep” (text version here; I’ll reblog with the podfic link when it becomes available on May 22).
“One of These Nights Jack Needs to Get Some Sleep” is a 5+1 fic about five times Jack pulls all-nighters and one time he doesn’t, spanning from Juniors through the end of the comic. (For a person who doesn’t drink coffee, I’m realizing that I write a lot about my characters drinking coffee; this is my second time searching “coffee” on a stock image site to make these moodboards.) I’m excited for people to remember this fic exists or to encounter it for the first time!

Podficcer Summary:
Eric Bittle is a trans figure skater at Samwell University. He wants to bake, learn French well enough to do a semester in Paris, and skate as much as he can—maybe even get back into competing someday. He has the whole Samwell Men’s Hockey team behind him, but falling for Jack, their handsome (and conveniently French Canadian) captain was not in his plans . . .
Author’s Excerpt:
Bitty is in Annie’s, bent over his textbooks and wondering, not for the first time, why he decided to take French as a language (oh yes, it’s because so many old recipes are written in French, he’s going abroad there to study food history, can’t wait for the summer; half of fall and then winter semester until he goes, but that doesn’t help him now does it), when he hears someone clear their throat.
“Excuse me, is this seat taken?”
Oh boy.
Eric doesn’t even bother lifting up his head. “Sorry, not a girl and not interested.”

Will looks beautiful, Derek thinks, and it isn’t fair. Time has done nothing to lessen the extent of his feelings, either. Derek realizes a little too late exactly why he was nervous.
It has been four years, three months, and five days since they graduated from Samwell, and Derek is finally facing the undeniable fact that at some time during his college years, he fell in love with William J. Poindexter and never got around to falling out of it.
