Nice whumpy thing: when people are intensely pragmatic about their injuries illnesses.
“Listen, if I pass out…”
“If you let up pressure, I’ll bleed out. So just, don’t move.”
“I know it ill hurt, just do what you need to.”

huge huge huge fan of "it sounds worse than it is" for sickfic and "it looks worse than it is" for injury whump. acknowledging that they're sick or hurt in a very obvious way, but failing to admit just how bad it is.
"That cough sounds terrible." "It sounds worse than it is." before ending up in the hospital with pneumonia.
"That wound is serious." "Looks worse than it is." is slowly bleeding out.

there’s something about the phrase ‘ you don’t look well at all ‘ that hits different. i think it’s the add on of ‘ at all ‘ that intensifies it , an observation that they look worse than not well from someone else . like they’ve decided you look worse than ever , they’ve decided that you must be feeling terrible , before you’ve even had to say anything — they just know.

a character who doesn't know they're about to pass out becaue they've never done it before. rather than saying "I feel faint" or something, they say "I feel a little weird." they only sit because another character points out that they look pale and tells them to sit or lie down.

Caretaker unnbuttoning Whumpee's collar after they collapse. I don't care about the context; it's just so good.
It could be panicked after Whumpee collapses without warning. Ripping off clothes to find a pulse. maybe then undoing the rest of the shirt to defibrillate.
Or Whumpee could pass out regularly. Caretaker's used to it. Gently unbuttoning they collar so they can breathe. Keeping an eye on them and standing by to reassure and orient them when they come around.
Maybe Whumpee's having a panic attack. Whumpee's frantic and struggling to breathe as their knees buckle under them and they stumble to the floor in distress. Caretaker's calm, rubbing their back, gently explaining what they're doing.

A character, usually very reserved and self-contained, has their filter/self-control eroded by fever or illness or bloodloss or exposure and starts pleading and clinging to their companions for the comfort and contact they've craved all along but never before dared to openly express- which shocks their friends who had never realised cuddles and caresses were something the incapacitated character wanted and are heartbroken to think they've been depriving them of them; they hesitantly but wholeheartedly oblige with all the warm contact they can provide.

I love it when whumpee shows up at caretakers doorstep so exhausted they pass out as soon as they know they're safe. Now caretaker sits by their bedside trying to guess all the worst case things that could have happened until whumpee wakes up and explains themselves.

Whumpee regaining consciousness and realizing they were kidnapped. They hear their captors returning, and they close their eyes and laid there, pretending to still be knocked out.
"I know you're awake," Whumper growled, kicking Whumpee in the stomach. Whumpee gasped and coughed from the impact, obvious that they're not unconscious.
