2003 pre warcraft release screenshots.
Kaldorei were originally designed to have a pink hair option with golden face markings. Pink hair was reintroduced during Wotlk for Kaldorei death knights. The face option seen here was also removed.

Hippogryphs - WoW RP
Ancient and innately magical, hippogryphs are intelligent, sentient creatures encompassing a variety of breeds.(1) Owing allegiance to the demi-god Cenarius, hippogryphs have long allied themselves with the Kaldorei, resulting in the cultivation of lifelong bonds with the night elves.
Anatomy
Though variable in size, hippogryphs exhibit the characteristics of both a stag and a raven.(2) With stormscale reinforced skin and a generously feathered body, hippogryphs are bisected by muscular hindquarters capped with hooves and angular forelegs equipped with sharp, avian talons.(3) The broad torso extends upwards into bulky shoulders which anchor a long neck and widespread wings; this robust neck offsets extra-corporeal antlers situated on its narrow, wiry head. With a porous bone structure and advanced vascular system similar to owls, hippogryphs are capable of 270 degrees of rotation at the neckline, enabling rapid and flexible movement. And with varying beak structures ranging from short and broad to long and narrow, hippogryphs present an imposing figure.
Breeds and Personalities*
Tumblr media
Thunderhead (a.k.a Cenarion) The most common of hippogryph breeds, Thunderheads are found throughout Kalimdor and represent the standard for size and speed. With earthy-toned feathers and courageous but sociable temperaments, this breed is the premier choice for both the Sentinel Army and Cenarion Circle. Bonds with this amiable breed have been attained by nursing hatchlings into maturity as well as by earning the respect of full-fledged adults. Unlike other breeds, however, Thunderheads can develop new bonds after the loss or separation of previous ties—and instances of a Thunderhead abandoning an unworthy partner have been recorded. Disclaimer: Thunderheads are voracious eaters.
Tumblr media
Frayfeather Distinctive among the breeds for its abnormal feathers and smaller frame, the Frayfeather is native to the Southern Wilds of Feralas. Capable of dexterous flight and resilient in hurricane conditions, the breed is renowned for their speed and athleticism. However, Frayfeathers remain the most reclusive of hippogryph breeds owing in part to the demand of its uniquely shaded feathers and unusually dense stormscales. Though the criteria for bonding with the breed is unpredictable, once formed, the bond will last the breeds lifetime. Disclaimer: Frayfeathers decline quickly when caged and will not survive long under restrained conditions.
Tumblr media
Argent Bred in captivity and trained from infancy for battle, Argent hippogryphs were rescued from the harsh environment of Northrend and bred thereafter by the Argent Crusade. The selective breeding led to Argents with denser feathers to offset the cold weather and shorter wingspans to dodge Northrend’s aerial threats. Argents bond with riders based upon their proficiency and bravery in battle; once bonded, the breed remains faithful even after death. While Argents have been known to carry unbonded riders, they decline quickly after their original bonds are broken and can become combative and reckless—even losing their own lives attempting to avenge the unbearable loss.
Tumblr media
Cloudwing Native to the elevated caves of Azsuna, Cloudwings are the wildest breed of hippogryph and infamously difficult to train. The breed is instinctively territorial, even towards Kaldorei, and will not hesitate to eliminate a perceived threat. Cloudwings mature and bond in family units so a threat against one member can provoke retaliation from its dependent kin. Believed to be the ideal breed for scouting and reconnaissance due to its high-soaring endurance, Cloudwings are coveted by elite Hippogryph riders. However, the breed will rarely take to a saddle if not trained since infancy, and attempts to break a mature Cloudwing’s will is not advisable.
Tumblr media
Leyfeather Recently discovered, this magically dependent breed has mutated to survive the hostile conditions of the Broken Isles after the Sundering. Unlike its brethren, the Leyfeather constructs its own habitat once it locates a satiating source of arcane energy; upon discovery, the Leyfeather uses the power to sustain itself and its offspring before migrating to a new fount of energy. Due to these migratory patterns and its own magical abilities, the Leyfeather is rarely found among the wilds and is speculated to be impossible to locate without the aid of arcane magics. The few known bonds demonstrate an unusual connection between the breed and its chosen rider—a bond rumored to be symbiotic.
Tumblr media
Flameward A remarkably adaptable breed, Flamewards are the only known hippogryphs capable of biofluorescence. Under the hostile conditions of the Cataclysm, Flamewards developed a unique defense mechanism whereby they absorb surrounding light before remitting it as red and orange radiance. The development softened their stormscales and hooves but in exchange, the fire-like luminosity provided them protective camouflage. Their fiery appearance instigated a myth the breed was made of flame, though some have braved the myth and bonded with the complex breed. Fantastically intelligent and amusingly cunning, Flamewards are loyal companions who revel in the demise of the elementals that destroyed their home.
Tumblr media
Moonfeather With a soft gradient of brilliant sterling feathers reminiscent of the goddess Elune, the Moonfeather is renowned by the Kaldorei for its singular beauty and grace. The breed was thought near extinct after the Sundering before the rediscovery of a surviving population protected and cultivated by the Silver Covenant. While Moonfeathers are passionately loyal to their riders, the breed can apply their own morality to a battlefield and will fight beside strangers so long as it is in service to a just cause. Moonfeathers are quick to react in defense of another but are not normally aggressive, and of all the hippogryph breeds, Moonfeathers have a notable delight for water and are often found near streams or lakes—and even moonwells.

Sabers - WoW RP
Native to the ancient continent of Kalimdor, Sabers are a fiercely intelligent species with an affinity for the Kaldorei that spans millennia. Due to naturally occurring regional mutations as well as magical manipulation, Saber breeds are widely variant across modern Azeroth.
Anatomy
Distinct among larger felines, Sabers are characterized by canine teeth that extend downward past the lower jaw. With a long frame of lean musculature, the Saber is gifted with the same speed, dexterity, and razor-sharp talons of other big cats; however, Sabers have larger heads and up to 120 degrees of jaw extension to support the additional weight and size of their massive canines. Their agile bodies are supported by heavy paws with additional layers of tissue on the metatarsal and digital pads, granting unusual stealth to their lethal movement. Because the species is reared almost exclusively in densely forested regions, they have a competitive edge in close-quarter combat. And with exceptional vision and thunderous roars, Sabers are both respected and feared.
Breeds and Personalities*
Tumblr media
Nightsaber The perfect nocturnal predator, Nightsabers are infamously difficult to track and even more difficult to conquer. Because their ebony and silver stripes offer flawless camouflage beneath a moonlit night, the Kaldorei believe Nightsabers were made by their lunar goddess, Elune. Their night-dark coloring also makes them the premier choice for Sentinel Ambushers and Huntresses, who rely on shadows to surprise their enemies; and though the Kaldorei’s proficiency in bonding makes Nightsabers a standard companion, the dangerous process still takes years to achieve. While the felines are renowned for their unfaltering devotion and courage, their loyalty comes at a price: The breed bonds only once in its lifetime and at the death of their Rider, they return to the wilds.
Tumblr media
Frostsaber Owing in part to their unforgiving environments, the Frostsaber is an uncompromisingly savage breed. With thicker canines and bulkier frames, the breed is perfectly adapted to arctic regions. This heavier physique requires significant nourishment, however, making the Frostsaber’s appetite legendary—even earning it the nickname “Dragon Belly” in Darnassian. While solid coats signify an ancient lineage, common patterns range from spotted to stripped, allowing Frostsabers to blend effectively into their snow-covered hunting grounds. Despite having the longest lifespans, Frostsaber bonding begins at infancy and is cultivated through decades of shared hardship. Though ruthless in nature, the breed respects patience and strength, making them a traditional choice for Priestesses of Elune. Disclaimer: Frostsaber cubs are adorable in freshly fallen snow.
Tumblr media
Moonsaber Undoubtedly the rarest breed of Saber on Azeroth, the Moonsabers are revered by the Kaldorei for their shimmering, moonlit coats and vibrant amethyst eyes. Unlike most Sabers, this breed does not stalk its prey from the shadows, instead preferring to run down its meal beneath the revealing starlight. There, the Moonsaber’s blessed speed can be fully unleashed; with a long body, flexible spine, and incredibly slim frame, the Moonsaber is believed to be the fastest Saber known to the Kaldorei—its sprinting form reaching unbelievable speeds. No written knowledge exists on bonding with the mysterious feline and most who journey in search of its companionship return only with stories of grounded shooting-stars fading in the distance. One thing is known: Woe to those who threaten its bonded Rider, for the Sisterhood has witnessed moonlight bend to the Saber’s vengeance.
Tumblr media
Stormsaber With an outgoing personality and compassionate temperament, the Stormsaber is considered the most gregarious of Saber breeds. The athletic felines are covered in striped and spotted fur that is double-layered in vibrant sapphire and ivory shades. As they mature, the breed’s azure eyes lighten and dull before fading to seashell white; though not fully understood, their unrivaled vision is attributed to the biological phenomenon. Rarely found alone in the wild, Stormsaber companions perform best in groups and decline quickly when isolated. Given their name, the breed is often associated with Malfurion Stormrage, though records indicate the designation predates the Archdruid. And in bonding, Stormsabers seldom attach to the magically inclined, preferring to partner with Wardens and Sentinels.
Tumblr media
Runesaber Hidden from view for thousands of years, the Shen’dralar claim Runesabers are native to the ley lines stretching across Azeroth. Enhanced by the raw power of pure arcane energy, these magical creatures have avoided capture for millennia. They venture from their protected shelters only when their magic is depleted, searching endlessly for new springs of power. The Kaldorei argue extensive exposure to the arcane eroded the calcium in their bodies, removing their once proud fangs; but the Sabers have never been recorded exhibiting traditional canines—in fact, stained glass found recently in the Ruins of Nar’thalas depict fangs of arcane energy extending from their upper jaws. Many mysteries surround the Runesaber but multiple bonds have been recorded since the re-discovery of Suramar, giving hope knowledge on the breed might yet be obtained.
Tumblr media
Dawnsaber For millennia, the gentle-natured Dawnsaber was considered an ill omen due solely to its light-colored coat. Ostracized by the Kaldorei, the breed has developed a singular ferocity rooted in deep-seated distrust and sorrow. With cerulean eyes and vivid coats ranging from warm honey to radiant gold, the breed is as beautiful as it is endangered. In the rare occurrence a bond is cultivated, the Dawnsaber’s true nature blossoms, revealing a daringly independent, amiable, and unfailingly protective companion. Due to its historical treatment, the breed becomes anxious in crowded environments and does poorly in cities or large settlements. And while the Dawnsaber struggles in the chaotic setting of large-scale war, it shines in solo combat and is rumored to be undefeated in territorial disputes with its night-favored kin.
Tumblr media
Mistsaber Queen Azshara once spent a single, passing breath in praise of Moonsabers, sparking a Highborne frenzy to artificially create the exceedingly rare breed to win her favor. Through artificial selection and arcane manipulation, the Highborne of Zin-Azshari succeeded in producing an entirely new Saber but fell short of replicating the moonlit characteristics of their desired breed. Cruelly discarded, the Mistsabers—so named for their grey coats and cloudy lavender eyes—were adopted by the Kaldorei of Hyjal. Adored for their dignified personalities, ease of taming, and unusual intelligence, the altered breed slowly earned its place amongst its natural kin. And though they are slender in build and slighter of frame, Mistsabers remain the most perceptive of all Saber breeds—rumored, in fact, to foresee danger before it arrives.
