If there was one thing that Micah had never expected it was to have found himself making out with Pallis at that party the night before. Still stunned, Micah made his way to his favorite tree in the campus courtyard and sat beneath it. He allowed the whole team to wander about, idly spraying Olivia and Crystal with water every so often as he sat and read his A Breeder’s Guide to Natures textbook.
While her hangover wasn’t terrible, the sunlight was a just a tad harsh at first. Nonetheless, she wanted some fresh air, and a walk was just what she needed. Eventually, she stumbled across Micah, who she had seen at the party, but by the time she fell asleep, he was just sitting quietly, very similar to what he was doing now. She sat down next to him. “Hey stranger, whatcha up to?”

Kris futilely picked up their pillows of their bed to check there one more time even though they’ve already looked. “I don’t know, yesterday maybe? Before the party.” They didn’t recall ever letting the pokemon out of its ball, yet when they woke up this morning the ball was empty. When could the Joltik have gotten out? “Maybe I should check with Sky see if it’s shown up there.”
Phoenix followed suit and started to look around her own bed. Unfortunately, there was no Joltik in sight. However, if it was sometime before the party, then that definitely wasn’t good. Who knows where it could’ve traveled off to in that time. When they suggested that they check with Sky, Phoenix nodded her head. “You’re right, I can text him and see if they’re there. Or if you want to go in person, we can do that too.”

Though Thor would’ve normally crept away in shame, upon realizing who he’d bumped into he immediately went back at the girl, sniffing vigorously to assess the damage. He yipped at her as she stood, a gesture that could’ve easily meant: “Hey, I know you!” or “Hey, get back down here, I wasn’t finished!” As Quinn closed in on the scene before him, he squinted his eyes. There was no way… was that, “Phoenix?” A bright smile lit up on Quinn’s face as the realization set in and his old friend began running up to meet him halfway. “God, I’m so glad it’s you! I’m great!” He laughed out loud, scooping the girl up in a hug without hesitation. “This is unreal! Uh- How are you? Are you okay after that fall?”
She took a moment to pet and play with Thor, it had been so long since she had seen this Jolteon, she wanted to give him a proper hello as well. Her Mime Jr. was a little scared of him, but that’s only because he was new to her team, and didn’t know Quinn or his Pokemon. She then quickly ran down the beach to meet him in his embrace, her Pokemon following soon behind. “I’m so glad it’s you too! Cause let me tell you, it would’ve been a little embarrassing to start running down the beach and trying to hug someone who ended up being a total stranger.” Opal had come out of the water to give Quinn a hug of her own, Phoenix’s Lapras and Horsea cheering from the water. “Yeah, yeah I’m totally fine. But I know! I feel like it’s been ages since your summer in Sinnoh. I’m doing great! Nothing much has really changed in my life other than running the daycare back with grandmom and grandpop, and working on future Contest routines.”

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuuuuuuck!” Kris had already turned over every pillow they had in their room (there were probably far too many) and hadn’t been able to find Mako anywhere. The Joltik loved playing unpremeditated hide and seek, but usually it would have shown itself by now. And Kris never saw it get out of its pokeball either, it was just kind of empty when they woke up that morning. “Has anyone seen a Joltik!?!??” They ran around campus, hair in a messy bun and in their pajamas (consisting of an oversized plaid shirt and yoga shorts), calling out in a frenzy in hopes that someone would come through and return it to them, hangover be damned cause this was more important.
Phoenix had every god to thank for whoever made sure she drank water between her drinks last night. While she vaguely remembers everything, she woke up with only a minor hangover, which is all she could really ask for, given everything. She was really luckly to have her earliest class today start in the middle of the afternoon, as it allowed her to just take the morning to relax. However, that was cut short as her roommate entered the room, seeming in panic. When she found them asking about a Joltik, she looked around the area around her, but honestly not super hard. “I’m sorry, I can’t say I have.” Phoenix started. “Dumb question probably, but do you remember where you had seen it last?”

It seemed old habits truly did die hard — Quinn was still a sucker for playtime with his team. He’d long since abandoned his attempts at skimming his class introduction textbooks, now sitting beside the ocean, sand shifting beneath him as he laughed heartily watching his pokemon play tag. Quinn’s right hand, Solace, was ‘it’ and Thor the Jolteon dashed away from her tauntingly. He and his Joltik, Raiden, sat on the sidelines (with Raiden atop his head, of course) as cheerleaders of sorts — switching sides as necessary. The rest of the nursing major’s team were kept in their pokeballs, Quinn knowing them well enough to know they preferred to keep to themselves at times like this.
All was fine up until Thor sped a bit too far up the beach without realizing. As if on the same page as her partner, Solace halted her chase just as Quinn called out, “Hey! Look out!” Unfortunately for the Jolteon and the stranger, Thor ended up knocking into them anyway. With that, Quinn shot up and ran up to the scene, Sol on his heel and Raiden holding onto him for dear life. “I am so sorry about that, h-he didn’t mean it, I swear!” he stammered as her gathered his shaken pokemon, simultaneously attempting to give the person before him some space to regroup.
Phoenix was particularly grateful that this new university was on a coastline. Large bodies of water were the easiest to accommodate her team, half of which moved around much better in water. While her Aurorus was back home helping her grandparents watch over the Pokemon of the Solaceon Day Care, Phoenix was accompanied by her Horsea, Lapras, Mime Jr, and of course Opal. The team all splashed around in the water, appreciating the suns rays and the fact that the temperature wasn’t too hot. She was so focused on her own Pokemon, and her Pokemon on her, that no one noticed the Jolteon that was coming in at a particularly fast pace. Before she knew it, Phoenix found herself knocked onto the ground, with her water Pokemon trying to help and Mime Jr. being nothing but over the top in his panic. Luckily, it wasn’t an extreme collision, and Phoenix could easily pick herself up. Once she did, she expected the Jolteon to either run away or attack again, but not this one. There was something about it that felt fairly familiar. And then she heard a boy’s voice from not too far away. As his figure became clearer, everything made sense. “Wait, Quinn? Is that you?” She asked as she began running towards the boy. “Oh my god! How are you?”

Phoenix nodded her head. “You’re right, an RA does seem like the most practical option. Gotta start from the bottom and work our way up.” She pouted even more as he suggested the party hats. “Oh my god, awwwww! But you’re so right, I didn’t even think about Delibird, they would have a field day with this!”

A small smile formed on Micah’s lips when someone requested to sit with him. He supposed it wouldn’t be too bad to have some company. “Go ahead,” he squeaked out in what he hoped was a warm voice. He set his book down once she commented on it and nodded. “Yeah, my whole family consists of breeders.”
Phoenix immediately perked up in her seat when the boy told her that he came from a family of breeders. “No way, so does mine! I’m from Sinnoh, and my grandparents run the big daycare over there in Solaceon Town. I’ve pretty much been learning how to breed for as long as I can remember. What are the odds of something like this happening on one of the first days, you know?”

sage looked up from sirena, as she noticed the girl was still there. “oh, uh, yeah. sure.” she shrugged her shoulders. “it’s not like it’s mine or anything. she just gets defensive. thinks everything is hers, ya know?” she smiled, looking at her pokemon. “so you better behave while that little manaphy okay?” she spoke to sirena, who avoided eye contact with her trainer. “thank you.” she smiled again. “you’ll give her a big head.” she laughed as sirena splashed her a little, before going back under the water.
Phoenix chuckled and nodded her head. “Oh trust me, I can definitely relate. I’ve got a Mime Jr. back home who thinks everything in the world belongs to him. Not exactly the best thing when you’re family are breeders and have a bunch of different bowls of food and toys for different Pokemon lying around.” She smiled sweetly as the other girl spoke to her Pokemon. “Well I can’t make any promises, but I’ll try to keep the compliments to a minimum,” She joked. “I’m Phoenix, by the way. What’s your name?”
