Did you ever read sprite comics when you were growing up? If so are there any specific ones that you can remember?
I read 'Neglected Character Comix'. Apparently it is also one of the first sprite comics in history. I think it is partially a collection of old chat room in-jokes presented through video game sprites but it was enjoyable to read as a kid. This was my wallpaper for a couple of years.

I love the colors you used in the rockruff drawing. How do you go about coloring like that? It looks so cool
The process video is fast, you might want to slow down the playback speed. (Bottom right -> Settings - > Playback speed)

I started with light blue/pink and added darker colors to make it more fun. I like putting 'unexpected' colors together. Purple and dark blue and olive green with a saturated red and brown nearby, why not. Ignore rules and go nuts. The main thing I keep in mind is how light or dark a color is in relation to the colors surrounding it. I wrote more about color here: https://petday.tumblr.com/post/708033934568620033/how-do-you-go-about-picking-the-colors-you-use-in
The colors were partially inspired by Rockruff's regular and 'shiny' palette. But while painting, I had 'Night light mode' turned on in my computer settings by mistake, which makes every color on the screen appear much 'warmer'. I had to compensate at the end by adding a layer filled with the color brown, set to 'Overlay' mode, so that the painting would be 'warmer', even when 'Night light mode' is turned off.
