Yeah, this post talking about it isn't going to stop you from enjoying anything, @ the extremely defensive fans. It's just pointing out a repeated occurrence of black or brown characters getting pushed to the side and dismissed as flat and uninteresting or even evil by default. White characters can and will get the benefit of the doubt by default

ToUcH gRaSs and let people criticize how fandom treats black or brown characters. It's not gonna stop you from writing your fanfiction.

Can we talk about the fact that so many people on this app would rather ship Lucy with the guy who CUT HER FINGER OFF or HER COUSIN 🤮 rather than shipping her with her canonical black love intrest. Yikes, this happens so often and it’s so concerning.

#also op was mostly targetting the frequency of this patterns' occurence over the actual ships..?#yeah i'm sure most people ship based on chemistry or what they personally want to see #but it's just annoying that “what they personally enjoy” rarely includes poc #or if it does they're just the supporting character for their actual blorbo.#can't wait for some guy to tell me to shut up and take it btw #i don't fully agree that it's malicious or even intentional but it can get frustrating and trite #and the really defensive reaction fans have to being told that just doesn't help
