I think I got one or two votes max against my idea, holy moly 😭

I’ll get to work on some crocheted Papa squares, which, I still want to make into a sweater since there’s conveniently four, that’d be cool as hell

While I work on that though, I still will be posting the other things I make, Ghost related or not. Thanks for the votes on the poll, y’all 💙

Slight internal conflict:

I want to try making a crochet pattern depicting the Papas’ makeup (ideally to make sweaters), but that will take forever and likely render my blog relatively inactive while I work on that.

Smaller projects would include papa plushies and probably some rats with Cardinal hats if I can figure that out, just to be clear.

Aurora and Sunshine are siblings. The reason being that, scientifically speaking, an aurora borealis is formed from solar flares interacting with the Earth’s magnetic field and atmosphere.

Some possible sources of inspiration for Meliora design

It is known that when creating Meliora, Tobias Forge was inspired by the movie "Metropolis" and the art deco style of the 1920-30s. Here I want to share my findings of some borrowed elements in the third era.

The Palace of the Soviets was a project to construct a political convention center in Moscow on the site of the demolished Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The project was never realized. Zbigniew Bielak wrote in his blog: "Check out the rough concept sketches leading up to this apotheosis of Soviet esprit". Meliora is probably referring to the USSR as a failed utopia.

The building beneath the lustful megalomaniac resembles Boston Avenue United Methodist Church (1929).

This element is taken from the old RKO building (usually known as the General Electric Building) (1929-31). The theme of electricity is given a lot of attention in Meliora.

The lanterns in the hands are made in the style of the Helsinki Central Railway Station (1907) lamps. Papa Emeritus is compared to Lucifer the Light-bringer, and at the same time he is the bearer of the idea of enlightenment.

Another unrealized building, a concept by visionary artist Hugh Ferriss, can be seen in the City's urban landscape from the music video. Hugh Ferriss was an American architect and illustrator who created many images of futuristic New York in the 1920s, he's also the author of the book "The Metropolis of Tomorrow".

This building is the actual Odeon Cinema in Glasgow. It was built in 1934 and was originally owned by the American Paramount movie studio. A prime example of mid-1930s architectural modernism.

The cover of "From the Pinnacle to the Pit" is painted from Nick Gaetano's "Romantic Manifesto." It is a 2006 painting inspired by Ayn Rand's book "Atlas Shrugged".

FINISHED THE GHOST PONCHO AND WAS ABLE TO GET SOME COSPLAY PHOTOSSS

Ignore the striped insides, I’m just ECSTATIC about how the poncho itself turned out.

Work time: 18 hours

I’m gonna make an updated version of the cosplay given that I wanted a few more accessories than I managed to make before this (I went to a comic con, the poncho was totally a con crunch 🤭).

UPDATES WILL INCLUDE:

A crocheted revolver and holster

Rat with a cowboy hat on my shoulder (also crocheted)

Probably a cleaner interior for my poncho lol

Maybe a black shirt, but I do like the contrast the white shirt gives. Thoughts on that?

It came out SO MUCH CLEANER, but I still think I can do better. I just need to get the left and right tips of the grucifix more defined and hopefully similar to the top and bottom ones, and I might have an idea for how to do it.

I was actually thinking about that yesterday! Definitely gonna try to make some of those later, but for now I’m trying to crochet a poncho for a Cowboy Copia cosplay with this design on it 🤭🤭

(Here’s my concept sketch. I want the points at the bottom of the back on the poncho to resemble Copia’s bat wings 🤭)

Made these six fat chickens today to finish off an off-white skein of yarn. Now I just gotta make lil babies for them 🥰🥰

I’ve taken it upon myself to get a cowboy Copia cosplay going, and to do that, I need to crochet myself a little diddy.
