Actually, and Gnomus wouldn't tell you this as he is himself a gnome, gnomes are easily lured by The Stew. They simply can't resist the stuff. Stew stolen from a Gnomish Stewery works best, but you can approximate the recipe at home. This doesn't work on Gnomus himself, obviously. Gnomus is too mighty for that.

Nothing! I take great care with keeping my fields healthy! The blight appeared in the night! I'm just as distraught as you are. Now, I really think we should do something about the blight spreading to the Forest and potentially the rest of the island. Gnomish would kill me if my field's illness touched his garden. Not to mention the ecosystem would be thrown all out of sorts.

I thought I'd had this land purged of anything arcane, myself notwithstanding, but I suppose they could have missed something.
