Pura Lempuyang temple is one of the oldest and most sacred temples on the island. It's about 2hrs drive from Ubud. The temple groups are considered as a part of the "six sanctuaries of the world", the six holiest places of worship on Bali. According to Balinese beliefs, they are the pivotal points of the island and are meant to provide spiritual balance to Bali. Have enough time in hand if & when visiting this place post-COVID. These days there’s no queue in the temple but in pre COVID world one had to wait for almost 2hrs to take a picture here. (Including myself, guilty 😝) I had seen this place in pictures many times before I actually traveled here. So was I disappointed? YES and a NO!! Yes, because I thought there's a lake in front of this heaven gates as they are called. But in reality, the reflection is from the mirror image. And a no, because in-spite of mirror image influence, this place has an awestruck beauty. Mount Agung (active volcano 🌋) is hiding behind the clouds here. Verdict: I will recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Ubud. -For sunrise -For my kind of pictures -For teertha Ganga (another beautiful picturesque location en route) -For the beautiful drive. *NOTE: everyone has to cover their body in order to pay respect to the place.
