#trialset2023 and some recent samples from a new paper set .
thinking of preparing small sets and collages for prints and posters for purchase and don’t know where the greatest interest would be (size wise, image selection, text or no text) and whether or not to go with square ratio prints instead of something more traditional or portrait style.
Love to know if you’d be interested in owning a $10 10x10in photo print of paintings like this?

expanding on abstracting shapes from what is plain in natural sight and what is not in need of precise description and interpretation.
squeezing focal points from 6-10feet distances into 11x14 framing assumes much greater risk of error in repeated attempts to reach the target of an object that adds to space rather than diminishing the value of ground and figure naturally occurring to compose themselves as the brain makes sense of what’s near, far, or noteworthy/eyecatching.
dark so far as confront them in natural and incandescent light throughout the day and nighttime darkness.

Finally got around to scanning #trialset2023, 75 8.5x11in pages of paintings and drawings in color.
i don’t know what to do with them as pdf files and the rough edges and at parts blown out exposure and contrast as a style for presenting them as a sampler work or a project with reproduction like prints in mind

LOOKED AT: deterioration
edited down roughly a decade of paper and painting to include roughly 75 pieces of work, including an illustration of ways the work poses an array of questions and what is presentation worthy, tidy, creative, and fun to do in sustainably designed forms of art that center the materials used to create the art.
sources from these projects that i shared on instagram and YouTube.
•green: a study with the color permanent sap green
•#madewithless: my reflection on packaging, utilizing available materials and sustainable practice
•#dodecahydron: 125 loose leaf papers graphite and color from paint and household liquids.
i love the texture of cardboard and paper. presenting it as a spectrum of colors makes me want a more realistic look of it since it looks so different from what you would expect in the retail store art and commercial art styles.
measuring the amount of time it took to make a decision on the subject is a key part of determining whether or not the decision was made based on trial and error or from following sure, reliable evidence that the outcome is correct. Definitely a big factor in determining whether or not to keep the original works for the future is whether or not they will be published.
the digital are derivative works affording the liberty of scale and compositions from zoomed in and reflected the same values of decision making as the physical ones. in the same way, they are also a way of creating an archive, which allows creative thinking in setting a decided tone and making a conscious effort to create easier to understand and learn from the process of determining what works for short term goals and what works for long term goals.

Found a few successful surprises in particular getting a contrast I like without black and revealed form effect without exaggerating outlines.
