The thing with dark academia is that it’s centred around a deep wanting to understand.
We want to understand everything you say in every language you can speak it. We want to know the context and history, we want to understand the emotions you convey with each word and pencil stroke. And it’s because we don’t that we want we want we want, because we can’t, not yet at least.
And yes there’s elitism, of course there is. When you don’t understand, you feel left behind and the need to know is twinged with the need to be worth something.
Knowledge is how we dictate our value.
And it’s because we don’t feel like we know anything.
