I hope I’m not too late
To set my demons straight
I know I made you wait
But how much can you take
I hope you see the God in me
I hope you can see

Santideva spoke great wisdom for us all :)
“Remaining in cyclic existence for the benefit of those suffering through delusion is achieved through freedom from the two extremes, attachment and fear. This is the fruit of emptiness.”

The word temperance in the dictionary literally means “moderation or self-restraint in eating and drinking, mostly in reference to alcohol,” but if you look at the original etymology, there is something more profound. The word temperament relates to temperance, one's character, one's virtues, one's psychological qualities. The word temperance comes from the Latin temperantia, “moderation,” as well as temperare, “restraint.” You also get words like temperature, heat, from temperance. But in what sense in relation to the 14th Arcanum?
When a blacksmith makes a sword, he tempers the steel in great adversity, great heat, great fire, and afterward, places it, the metal, within water, in a cool element, exposing the metal to heat and cold―two extremes―in order to find that perfect balance of a weapon that is very sharp and deadly. It is an allegory of the soul, how our consciousness must learn to face extremes, but with temperance, with balance, because in life, we are consistently exposed to great ordeals, great extremities, in which we feel the fire of criticism or the cold of solitude. But in order for us to be well formed as a soul, we must learn to go through both extremes, but without identifying with the mind.
We have to face the ordeals of fire, the ordeals of water, the ordeals of earth, and the ordeals of air, which are all allegorized by the blacksmith Vulcan, forging the sword of the soul and the armor for the great heroes, the great alchemists.

“We have a duty to protect ourselves. If we are really working on this spiritual path, it is because we believe that there is a way to really serve God and help humanity in the process. And so when other entities try to seduce us, to manipulate us, to attack us, we have a right to protect ourselves and we have a duty to protect ourselves, because the work that we are doing at this time is very important. Many, many people are suffering, and the work that we are doing to become better human beings, to connect with divinity, to follow the will of God through the guidance that we are receiving internally, is very important, because as we see every day on the news, this planet is going through an intensifying period of suffering. So the more that we are doing to preserve our covenant with God and to work with the three factors to strengthen our consciousness, to live ethically, to follow the guidance of our own inner divinity, the better it will be for us, for everyone around us, and for humanity as a whole. So take spiritual protection seriously, and do what you can, but most importantly, know that by purifying your own mind through daily meditation and following God’s guidance and comprehension, that is the best protection that you can have.”

“Americans have great drive, but no conscience. Americans live for the dollar. They have drive to achieve more, succeed more, to be biggest on the block, but they have not developed conscience; therefore no drive to help God.”

The trees of Eden are two: the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is sex. The Tree of Life is the Being. Every authentic cultural doctrine has to carefully study these two trees, because to study one tree while ignoring the other gives only an incomplete and useless knowledge. Of what use is it to study the Being if we do not know sex? Of what use is it to study sex if we do not know the Being? Both trees are from Eden, and they even share their roots.
These trees are the two great basal pillars of the White Lodge: wisdom and love. Wisdom is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and love is the Tree of Life.
The doctrine of these two trees was deeply studied in Egypt. The fatal shadow of the Tree of Life is the “I.” The fatal shadow of the Tree of Knowledge is fornication. People mistake the shadows for reality.
Whosoever terminates the process of the “I” attains the Self-realization of the Being within himself. Whosoever terminates with fornication is transformed into a Christ.

“Mammon is related with wealth, the riches of the earth. It is a demon, an individual that treasures gold, money. This is why it is stated that this society is a mammon society. Everybody wants money and more money. “Give me gold, intellectualism,” everything in relation with this mind. “I want to be famous,” so you have to be a millionaire, etc. That is mammon. So, to be against mammon is to be against your mind, and not to be a slave of money. You need money, OK, but do not be a slave of money, do not be identified with it; follow the rules of God. This is why Jesus said: “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” Heaven is in the head, it relates to the pineal gland, and beyond your consciousness. “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,” because everybody on the earth wants to be rich, to have treasures. It is not bad to have what you need, to have money. It is good, but do not identify with it. Do not make your life out of covetousness; do not make of collecting money the reason to be alive. Just have what you need. What do you need? You need to eat, to clothe yourself, and to have a shelter. Clothes, food, and shelter is why you need money in this day and age. In previous ages, in ancient times you did not need money for that. But now, money is the base for that, so you need it, thus get it just to satisfy your necessities. But let your priority be the kingdom of your own consciousness, the kingdom of your own Spirit, because if you want to work today for God and tomorrow for mammon, or in the morning for mammon and in the afternoon for God, then, you are serving two lords at the same time. You cannot do it. If you work because you need money in order to survive, do it, but in your job, be aware of yourself. Work for your God. Be in hell as an angel, not as a demon. This is difficult, because none of the demons like to be in hell acting as angels but as demons, yet the angel is tested in hell. Do you want to be an angel? Do you want to awaken your consciousness? The consciousness awakens here in hell where you have to be tested so that you can work with yourself. This is how this must be understood, because there are people who, for instance, say: “First I’m going to have my home, my car, a certain quantity of money in the bank, and then I will work for God.” That is ludicrous, because then the ego of greed within you will say: “Well, you need this, and this more, and this more,” and like this, years pass, you get old, and at the end you die. And from those treasures that you were treasuring a lot, you do not take a cent, nothing, because you go alone into the grave and this is it. Then you go into other dimensions. Your physical life ended. So why do we have to identify with the treasures of the earth, with mammon?”

Ignorant people suffer because they want to be loved instead of loving. Although sensible people love first, they suffer because they expect their love to be returned. Even if you love someone, that person may not love you back. That can leave a bitter feeling. That’s why some say love is a seed for hatred, a hatred that sprouts not because you love someone but because you expect to be loved. When you love someone, love without expecting anything in return. When you watch the ocean, you feel happy not because the ocean loves you back but because you love the ocean. Love someone without expecting anything in return just like you love the ocean or a mountain.
