one (1) thought that is still rolling around in my mind after finishing "love for love's sake"
Most of the physical mechanics of the story are left vague (Tae Myungha gets transported into the yet to be made game version of the novel his friend wrote -> which turns out to be higher powers that transport him back in time but also into an alternate universe). Which I believe to be a good choice so that the story doesn't accidentally carry the message of his suicide enabling him to find a life worth living etc.
But keeping it vague also does away with any age gap discussion. Myungha seems to be aware that he is much older and he does retain some of the maturity and knowledge that comes with his actual age but what I cannot stop thinking about is how it also emphasizes how Myungha hasn't been "alive" for the past years.
We do not know much about his life between him leaving school and him taking his own life, other than his grandmother dying. Other than the bar (which isn't a real place) we only see him dejected wandering around wishing to disappear. And I found this to be so impactful after all the quests we see him going on in his new highschool life.
It emphasizes the importance of human connection while making you feel the emptiness that Tae Myungha must have felt. An emptiness that was so much that nothing of the past years seemed to have amounted to mean anything to him. 30 year old Tae Myungha seems to not have amounted to anything worth caring for to Tae Myungha himself.
So him being 19 again feels very right, like he really will be living the coming years for the first time.

The latest numbers coming from Gaza state that there are about 77,575 injured Palestinians as of April 28, 2024.
I honestly see this number as a very humble one, but regardless, I said this in 2014 and it bears repeating: considering the types of weapons Israel is using in Gaza, the overwhelming majority of these injuries are severe and critical. So when we say that well over 77,000 people are injured in Gaza, we're talking about tens of thousands of people who have ended up with a lifelong disability. Thousands of amputees with no proper care. Thousands who will not be able to walk or see again. Many won't be able to go back to school or work again. Burn victims without the means to reduce or take the pain away. Many on life support and many more who will not even make it.
So many open wounds, both literally and figuratively, that we need to keep present in our conversation about Gaza.

Ming - I'll treat you horribly because I'm a piece of shit.
Joe - *heart emoji eyes activated*
That boy does not hear a word out of Ming's pretty pouty mouth.
Not. One. Fucking. Word.
