gswxjun:
When Jun was already mentally preparing himself for an unwanted fist fight, someone approached the quarreling group. To his surprise a tall, beautiful and charming woman had entered the stage, immediately soothing the pestering men in front of Jun. Blinking, he watched her, it was quite a show after all. Actually, he couldn’t really agree with them entering the V.I.P lounge after harassing women. After all, it felt as if she was giving them a reward for doing so. Even though she had managed the situation with said promise, he wasn’t too sure about this solution.
He smiled at her, when she began to talk to him. Nodding, he agreed. “I guess so.” The doctor offered a hand to the stranger. “Thank you for the help, by the way. Though I would have preferred if you threw them out, since they behaved pretty nasty.” He spoke out honestly and smiled once again. “Ah, no thank you. I don’t drink. But maybe you could order a bottle for my nurses? Since they are doing such a great work.” And as some kind of reassurance to prove her support towards fellow females instead of misbehaving men.
He looked back at the group of colleagues who were more or less enjoying their time here. Luckily everything had worked out, even though an irky feeling was left. “My name is Seomun Jun, by the way. Pleased to meet you. Are you working here?”
Sunhee could see the hesitation in the man’s face, so she reassured him with her next words “The VIP room has more security inside, you see those big, scary men? They’ll throw them out if they make a mess but I can’t really afford to have a show in here, you know?” She asked him. After all, the Pink Room was a whole experience and she needed to make sure all her customers knew that they would assure a safe place.
“Your nurses? Are you a doctor? They will certainly get a complimentary drink, they deserve it after all their hard work” The club kept running despite the lack of power, candles giving it a new vibe, the live music giving it a new touch that made their clients experience a whole new type of entertainment.
“I’m Oh Sunhee, nice to meet you. I’m the manager of the club, and a huge fan of the hospital, the doctors are always so nice there” And maybe she appreciated their looks a lot too, she didn’t say that though. “Are you here celebrating something?”

gswhan:
With his newfound ( temporary ) stay at the apartment building, Hangyeol found himself pacing the halls more than he would care to admit. Acclimating himself to an unfamiliar ( and yet a tad recognizable from his occasional visits ) location had his nerves standing on end, frazzled and frayed at the edges like an exposed wire. He folded one arm across his middle, the other poised against his chest to grant his teeth the nail bed of his thumb, index knuckle pressing on his philtrum.
In his haze, the lighthouse keeper hardly took notice of the woman trudging down the hall with a precariously placed lamp in her hands. Not until their shoulders collided and the shattering of tempered material broke his daze. He watched in relative silence as she salvaged what she could from the scraps on the floor. A bent wire dangled from the chipped base ( presumably from where he accidentally stepped on it shortly after it fell ) and the bulb hung loose from its original location.
“An exaggeration,” He states plainly, pursing his lips. “Unless you were the cause of the outages last week. If the wires are hot and exposed or tangled up wrong, the worst that would happen is a burnt outlet and bustled bulb. It’s an easy fix if you have electrical tape and an industrial glue gun.” He straightens his posture, arms crossing once again after he places the remainder of the lamp into her box.
“The lamp looks kind of old, anyway. Why not just get a new one? You’d be better off.”
Sunhee herself was an exaggeration, or at least she liked to think so, her entire self being somewhat of unexpected, she liked to believe she was special, unique, like this lamp that was now shattered in pieces, maybe this was the way the universe told her that she was broken too, and it was time to pick up the pieces that he had left. He, the one who should remain unnamed.
“Or maybe this burnt outlet and bustled bulb are just suffering the same fate as our town, maybe it’s a sign, of something, I don’t know of what” Because why go for the simple, right? “I don’t have electrical tape, but I do have normal tape, does it work?” She asked, fully knowing that the answer would be a no. “I use the glue gun for when I’m bored and I start projects that I never end” That was something  more common, and something Sunhee always promised to take care of.
“Just because something it’s old it doesn’t mean you have to throw it away” God, she needed to stop comparing herself to the lamp, she was thirty one, she was not that old, she reminded herself. The lamp, he was talking about the lamp “Do you think you can give it a try? To save it from being thrown away?”

gswmyunghwa:
“i’ve recently been starting a criminal enterprise.” dramatized statement uttered softly with a cast over her shoulder, as though anyone were interested in the ramblings of a lunatic. thus far, lee myunghwa the only member, engaging in crimes of all types. “so if you want, i can go rough him up a little for you. make him lose a few teeth.” because only assault and battery was missing from the list. what convinced her she could be the island’s next mob boss? taekwondo classes and time spent in jail. taken out of context, she’d seem a formidable opponent. with the surrounding detail, she was all bark and  no bite. “and i can sneak into his place and shave off his hair. let’s see how attractive he is after i’m done with him.” conviction behind the offer alarming, suggestive of it perhaps not being a joke.
Tumblr media
even for someone as dense as myunghwa, another’s pain in discussing a breakup was apparent. so rather than dwell, she chose to focus on the far more bizarre news shared. a random girl showing up? maybe too influenced by the stories shared with her about japanese toilet ghosts or sacrifices of children to the gods, thoughts immediately went to the supernatural. ghosts were not real, she would insist. yet it seemed to take little convincing to have her thoughts leaning towards the unnatural. the story progressed, luckily verifying that the child was human, not spirit. hardly the one to be giving advice on children or ethics, sunhee had picked the worst of the lot to guide her through this moral dilemma.
“no you did the right thing.” because the last thing she intended to do was worsen the already guilt-ridden woman’s state. “doesn’t everyone know everyone here?” or was that just a stereotype of small towns? “kids don’t just appear out of thin air. if she didn’t have a home, people would know. especially one so young.” faith in the police was strong, as was her belief that sunhee had done the right thing not keeping the child. “it’s better that the police look into it. and you can keep in touch. be a fun auntie!” though the other’s words warranted  a follow-up question. “you considered keeping her? a random kid you don’t even know?”
“As much as I’d like to see you against him it’s not really necessary, I’ll be fine” She had to be fine, there was no other option. She couldn’t stay and cry every day for her loss, she needed to start thinking of it as his loss, otherwise she would go nuts thinking of everything she could have done wrong. “Shaving his head? Now I’m sold. If you get to do that I promise you free drinks for life” Because that would definitely be something Sunhee would like to see. Maybe she was moving into the revenge state, which was a wonderful stage to move on.
It was a relief to hear that she had done the right thing regarding the little girl. She had been thinking about her over and over again, wondering if she had done wrong by going to the police, imagining her days with her in her life. But it was crazy, right? To keep someone just because they showed up at her door. Sunhee was definitely not in the right state if she considered it an option. “I don’t know who could know her but the police was supposed to do that job, maybe I should check in” She knew Daejung, maybe she could ask him how the case of the missing girl was going.
Tumblr media
“That’s what I’m thinking, someone must be looking out for her. Maybe tomorrow I should go and check that out, can’t be the fun auntie if I don’t know where she is” She commented, decided to find out what was happening. “I know, I know, it sounds crazy, right? But I saw her and fell for her immediately. I figured it was the universe giving me a sign, you know how badly I want to be a mom, maybe she was a gift from a greater God”

gswjuhwan:
“your words are not reassuring me that i’m about to have a positive experience in the pink room tonight, manager oh.” tone wry, the way she emptied the glass of wine convinced him that yes, her mood was dangerous. it was quite possible he would witness all seven stages of grief and though capable of weathering such an emotional storm, he hadn’t come prepared for such a lift. habit brought him to the bar at the end of town. perhaps a few woes of his own ( none he intended to share ). “so the choice is between paying as a patron or lending a shoulder to cry on?” perhaps another, upon hearing of her breakup would demonstrate more sympathy. “ sadly, i didn’t bring my wallet.”
she viewed him as a friend, hence her disappointment when he hadn’t shown up earlier. whether he could say the same, juhwan wasn’t sure. a decade ago, he’d seen her as his protégé. world viewed through an inflated ego ( and rose-tinted optimism ) juhwan had enough arrogance to call himself her mentor. now, he had no advice to offer, no guidance to give. rather now, sunhee reminded him that, try as they may, neither succeeded in their ten-year plans. she sat, manager of the pink room, and he sat, a meager town hall employee. if they were friends, what a pathetic pair they were.  “those all sound like the same reason to me. boils down to he doesn’t know what he wants and decided to take the easy way out and leave.”
Tumblr media
the resentment in her tone mirrored his own as she recounted the parallel life she could have had. it was part of what kept them bonded. an tacit understanding that neither anticipated life to look like this. disappointment with the world and with themselves. tonight she voiced it and he would forever silence it. “maybe i remembered i had a friend here.” her words repeated back to her with a slight curve of his lip. “or maybe i had a premonition that you’d be broken up with and would need a punching bag come shoulder to cry on.” with a shrug he took another sip of his drink, intended to go slower than her. “or maybe i just got bored of serving myself alcohol.”
“Manager Oh, look who is in a mood now” Sunhee told him with a chuckle, only stopped to give him a more genuine one at his next words “I could always lend you some money but what type of friend would I be. So instead, a deal, you allow me a little of self pity and I will be all ears for whatever you choose to share with me” Sunhee knew too well that nothing came out of his mouth without being extremely thought, the calculative man inside of him always showing up in whatever the circumstance was.
Tumblr media
“Easy way out for him, yes” Because it had nothing of easy for Sunhee herself. And yes, they all sounded pretty much the same, an exercise she had already done. Was she moving on? She doubted it, her heart still felt like it belonged to someone else, but her mind was doing wonders at planning what her next step would be. “You called me a friend, no take backs” A more childish behavior than she intended to have, but with Juhwan she had to take it as a win. “Maybe you’re here for another reason”
It was like if suddenly hit her, the reason why life put this man in front of her in this very same moment. Maybe her wish would be granted in the form of Juhwan, maybe all of her prayers would be finally responded. “Have you ever thought about becoming a dad, Juhwan?”

jisugsw:
This new workplace is simply delightful, Jisu thinks. He likes it here already; like his manager is all friendly, the place is cool and he gets a new job without going through tedious process of interviews and being tested with knowledge he knows he did not acquire or pay attention to back when he was an idol, much less high school being years ago. “Secret handshake. m’yeah? Let me think about it and I will get back to you in 3 to 5 business days,” he jokes easily, nodding at the lady’s word on their bar being the best there is.
JIsu follows the latter’s lead, walking up to the other side of the attending bar. His eyes scans over neat displays of condiments and glasses, along with glasses of alcohol lined up in proud display. No doubt this is a bar indeed; most of these drinks are ones Jisu does not recognize aside one or two that he has seen on commercial breaks of the Korean drama he used to be invested in. The raven-haired listens closely then follows Sunhee out of the bar and mentally takes note of the areas. “No need to go to kitchen, and listen to the bell- Got it!” he nods along with his words.
“That’s cool honestly-” he remarks casually but with fascination over the freedom of the break. Not that Jisu ever has any issue if they had been assigned to a specific time - his job in the library does that while his work in the convenience store lets him eat or take a break even when there’s customers around, so he supposed this is the balance out of the two, well three current jobs he has. “Do you have any rules on clothing then, aside the black apron and nametag- Like, am I allowed to wear ripped jeans and such?” Jisu asks, though he could easily do with fitting covered pants and plain tees, but he has been having a recent hyper-fixation on baggy ripped jeans and wonders if this bar would allow him the comfort of his fashion choice. “And like- any ground rules I should follow..? Like the library had this specific rule of not letting me clock out any time after 8pm when I am on night duty- But they never state why…?”
Sunhee is not quite sure she gets the humor of the younger man, but she still smiles at his joke, glad to know they were training someone with a sense of humor. After all, you had to have it while working with people, otherwise you wouldn’t get good tips and more important, you wouldn’t do a good job. And the Pink Room was known for its good service and Sunhee wasn’t planning on changing that under her management.
“Good, you’ll still be trained so chances are the waiter or waitress assigned to you will tell you everything again, but it’s good to know you’re paying attention” Only after the full training he would be offer a contract, in the meantime he would get paid by the day until they’re all sure he’s up for the task.
“Ripped jeans are not advised, we don’t want anyone to look like they don’t have enough money for a good pair of jeans” Sunhee suggested, they all dressed very properly “That’s part of your training, watching how others do and behave. Their clothing will give you an idea of how to dress. I’m no example because I don’t wear an uniform but I always try to look my best” And it helped to give the vibe of a fancy yet relaxed place. “I guess we have the basic rules of every workplace, you know, don’t do anything inappropriate and respect your hours. We only do over time if I request it but we try not to overwork anyone” She said “Maybe the library doesn’t want to pay extra hours, they are more expensive than the normal hours”

gswmyunghwa:
what could the spiciest gossip of gwasuwon be? someone’s child winning a local writing competition. maybe the love confessions of the resident, ‘will-they, won’t-they’ couple. a business going under. myunghwa wasn’t sure what she was even fishing for in asking such a question. the answer was predictable. yet the same news packaged differently had excited her in the past. their family friend’s son winning a national writing award. when gyuri and jihoon finally started dating ( their romance short-lived ). the party that came after her father acquired a bankrupt business rival. less the subject-matter, disinterest was caused more by her lack of familiarity with the characters. because to her, they were just that. characters in a story with no buy-in from the listener.
now sunhee’s own tea, that was intriguing. she had context. sunhee was known and thus, myunghwa was invested in her life. a divorce or missing child support payments was no different than reading the newspaper ( which unsurprisingly, she rarely did ). scooting slightly to ensure she had enough room, myunghwa’s patience was limited.  she was itching to know what it was that happened. yet when the news came, she was aghast. “what?” a breakup?! the last time they’d spoken, she remembered sunhee mentioning a partner, seeming absolutely lovestruck. myunghwa’s own romantic past far from simple, few relationships, many flings, the other’s stable relationship was a thing of envy.
so who was this man that dared break-up with her? outrage rarely displayed in her love life surfaced at the injustice towards sunhee. “how dare he?!” she began, asking no other details. “what was he even thinking? how ridiculous. eight years!” people were lucky if relationships lasted eight months, let alone eight years. here she’d been thinking they’d begun dating recently. “what an asshole.” alcohol and food all of a sudden less appealing, her entire focus shifted. “did you tell him that? did you tell him he’s an asshole and he will never do better? and that he’ll go bald? and his teeth will fall out? and,” curses cut off abruptly, an important question unasked before she’d launched into her tirade.
Tumblr media
“how are you doing?” her hand covered the older woman’s, doing her best to be empathetic. yet it was easier to rage than understand because she’d never really been in this position  before.
Sunhee was used to the reaction, people not believing she was going through a breakup because they seemed so good together, like the perfect couple with no troubles and granted, Sunhee thought the same, so she understood the initial surprise. It was not something she particularly enjoyed talking to but to Myunghwa? She liked her and she needed some well deserved girl talk. Too bad the only thing she had to say was how surprised she was and how unexpected it had been.
“I told him a lot of things” In between tears, most of them, the pain of his words making her question herself more and more. She was more insecure now, a painful gift that he had given her as his good bye, and now as time passed Sunhee thought of more and more things she would like to say, except that now she didn’t have the chance to. Even for a small town, he was doing a great job avoiding her. “I hope he goes bald, sadly, he is still very much attractive” Maybe it was because it was still fresh but she found it difficult to find bad things to say about him. After all, he was the love of her life. Or had been. She wasn’t sure yet.
Tumblr media
“The other day a girl showed up at my place” She told her, deciding it was too painful to speak about her ex, and instead, she would tell her another painful thing “She was six or seven, little girl had no home, she was starving” She still remembered each second of it, still questioned if she had done right or wrong. “I considered keeping her to myself, if that’s something people can do. But someone must be looking for her right? I went to the police station and they said they would take care of her. Did I do wrong? Should I have kept her?”

gswjuhwan:
xx
a mere shrug in response, his expression remained neutral. “given your mood, i was expecting a cold shoulder and stranger treatment today.” he anticipated her train of thought well before she verbalized it. over a decade ago, he’d left the island with the intention of never returning. she claimed she wanted the same. so, despite losing contact, he expected her to follow upon the path he’d paved. even with humble means, escape was possible. yet he neither heard from her nor learned of her departure. she’d given up, he’d thought for years. chosen the comfort of the familiar over the difficulties of the unknown. and with that assessment, she’d slipped his mind like many others from the island, contained only to his past with no place in his future.
perhaps punishment for quick judgments ( and many other sins ), he too found himself back on the island years later. escape was fleeting. one way or another, everyone was bound to return. yet the reason for his return and the fact that it was involuntary remained hidden. so as she hurled her grievances at him, juhwan did not miss the irony. she was jealous of his “perfect life” while he was lamenting the what ifs just like her. these thoughts stayed locked in the confines of his own thoughts, attention instead turning to her. “ah,” news of her break-up? unexpected. but the inevitable spiral of regret? unsurprising. “so that’s why i’m your punching bag instead. why did he end things?”
Tumblr media
once all her gripes were on the table, he sifted through which were meant for him and which were projections of disappointments with her ex ( and herself ). “so where has this series of what-ifs led you?” he was sympathetic to her situation, stuck in a life that she hadn’t wanted, left alone in the world much earlier than anticipated. but truth be told, though he understood the heartache associated with a breakup, too much stability bred complacency. having almost fallen victim to it himself, perhaps this would force her to reclaim her life. “well, i’m drinking a beer i have plenty of at home, so.” he’d leave her to answer that question.
“My mood? Darling you’ve seen nothing” She assured him, drinking from her cup of wine, finishing the content because it was late, she was officially off work and she deserved a nice glass now and then. “If you want the stranger treatment just say the words” Because otherwise she would ramble about everything and anything and he knew it, Sunhee could talk and talk nonstop if she wanted to.
Tumblr media
“My punching bag sounds too violent, maybe a shoulder to cry on? Not like I expect for you to be one, though” She knew Juhwan, more than he’d like to admit, and the shoulder to cry on didn’t fit him. But still, since he was so gentle to ask, she gave him a response. “Why did he? Hmmm, he fell out of love, fear of commitment, not ready to move on, take your pick, he gave me at least 10 reasons and I don’t know if I should feel proud of it or not” She shared, trying not to sound as bitter as she felt, although she thought she was failing at it.
“Most of them at me living outside the island, a woman with a career, you know? Because when you don’t have a family you at least have a career” And yes, she was complaining, even when she was the manager of the Pink Room she wanted more than just taking care of people tending tables. “So you wanted to come and visit despite having the same drink at home? What made you come out of your cave? What’s so special about tonight, Mr. Ha?”

jisugsw:
“Right, right” Jisu replies enthusiastically, noting down everything the manager has said including the mentions of drunk customers down to meeting another staff whom would help him train. ”I think- I’m personally good with patience!” which isn’t a completely lie because oh boy did he have tons of patience when he waited to debut, and then for it to build up when he was announced to have a solo, and again, when things had happened to him within his group. He sure does have patience.
“Perhaps I could start my own fanbase here you know, make a name for myself as the best waiter, then perhaps you might have to fight for me as other bars or food chains start scouting me,” he laughs at the idea. As much of a fast learner he is, he’s also known to be clumsy at times and hopes that he does not start breaking any plates on his first month, or the worst come, pour drinks over strangers. He has once dropped a plate of chicken ginseng soup his mother took twelve hours to cook over an old family’s hand-me-down ttukbaegi. Thankfully the pot was sturdy enough to not break or his mother would be devastated and Jisu didn’t suffer any degree of burns, but his poor, poor chicken. He remembers how out of pity, that his sister had offered a piece of chicken from hers to her beloved clumsy brother ⎯ well, at least a wing was better than none.
“Is there any uniform that I need to change to-” he asks, unsure because the manager is dressed like a manager would, carefree and with her own choice of outfit. Jisu has seen some bar establishment that has uniformed outfits that their staff would wear, but others with freedom to their own wear so as long they are dressed comfortably and safe; meeting the requirement of no scandals or slippers policy, and no shorts for some other establishment.
Sunhee had to laugh, the boy had some confidence and she was loving it. The comment about the fanbase wasn’t a wrong one, she had many clients that came for the waiters and waitresses they have, a little plus to the whole experience in the Pink Room. “Then I’ll have to ask for loyalty, maybe a secret handshake that no one else knows where you promise not to leave me for some other club. We are the best, anyways, so it would be your loss” She winked at him, entertained by everything he said.
“We all wear black and a black apron that matches, a name tag and that’s it” She explained since they were laid back with the uniform and it was easy to identify who was a client and who was a worker with that simple outfit. Sunhee looked at him “You’ll be fine, but come here, follow me, I’ll show you around” She said as she entered behind the bar “Here is where the magic happens, you’re not a bartender so you won’t be here, but there are five stations and depending on the zone assigned to you is the bartender that will make your drinks” She explained, walking around.  “The kitchen, no need to go inside either, you put on the order here and retire the dishes over here. We use this little bell to let know when there’s a warm dish ready, you’ll have to pay attention because we do not serve cold meals if they’re supposed to be hot” She added, heading over the locker room “You’ll be assigned a locker and this is the break room” Some futons and chairs, a TV and a few drinks like soda and water were allowed in there “You get a 15 minute break for every hour that you work, you decide when to use them. We take pride on taking care of our people. My staff usually take breaks when they don’t have more tables to take  care of”

gswdaejung:
daejung honestly much preferred patrolling controlling to the hours and hours he spent in his office stuck behind his desk doing paperwork. getting out in the public and keeping order was something he would miss if he ever did get the promotion to assistant inspector. inspectors didn’t do any of the patrolling, they were simply assigned the cases. there was just something about being able to walk around and actually see people face to face, be able to help those who might need help in that very moment.
if he hadn’t been patrolling, he wouldn’t have been able to hear the shouts for help. daejung was not someone who was going to ignore someone shouting for help.
it didn’t take very long to locate the sounds of the shouting coming from inside the pink room. he didn’t waste any time in shouldering open the door, looking around for any sign of danger. but what he saw was sunhee standing on a chair by herself, and it appeared she was the one who was going all the shouting. before daejung could even open his mouth and ask what the problem was, she noticed him and started going on about a monster. “a monster?” he repeated, raising an eyebrow as he looked around the place, “and what sort of monster would that be? would you mind explaining, then i might be able to do something about it.”
Sunhee laughed nervously. One thing was asking for help and another one was getting it and having to explain why she was acting like a crazy woman. She knew she was overreacting, but she couldn’t just move and act normally when there was a rat out there, waiting for her to put her guard down and attack. Because yes, rats could attack and she knew it, she had seen it once in the tv.
“There’s a rat” She explained, motioning around her, to the tables where she was sure the monster was hiding “And don’t tell me it’s not a monster because it totally is, can you imagine what will happen if someone sees it tonight when we are open and full of people?” It seemed like not even her staff was close to help he, everyone doing something else or simply hiding from the rat as well.
“I know this is not your area of expertise” Unless Daejung was suddenly an expert on rats and their behavior, Sunhee was just assuming he had the general knowledge that everyone else had “But I’d be very grateful if you help me find it so I can move, I swear my entire body is frozen, except for my tongue, I’m rambling and I can’t seem to stop, I’m so sorry I’m making you go through this when there are more important crimes to solve”

jisugsw:
“Ah―” Jisu is caught in a surprise by being called pretty yet at the same time from being recognized. To think anyone from this island would know him, it feels surreal yet he has been hoping that the very least he would live on the island without any remarks or recognition of him being an idol. He scratches his neck and laughs bashfully, “Ah. yes, uh I am-” is what Jisu says, when he knows he isn’t anymore. He wonders if he would be caught red-handed- or if this lady had read any statement. After all, his departure had become something quite big; he remembers seeing on social medias of his fans asking about his departure and how his personal social media was immediately shut down by his company when they announced. (It’s not surprising really, the account was set up by the company first and not something of his own, and they had his credentials and empowerment to do what they wanted. It’s still sad for Jisu when he thinks of it and remembering how in his free time, he would scroll the private messages where his fans would write essays of their love and admiration for him. Aside the less endearing ones, or the ones he sees fans being ‘spicy’ with their different style of love declaration.)
He quickly changes the subject, “Well, does helping your mother in the kitchen and placing her homecooked dishes on the table count…? I- I’m a fast learner!” he admits the latter part quickly, which is true to Jisu the very least. He picks up an entire three minute choreography after watching the demo video three times and trying it out for 2 times before polishing his parts. He’s sure he can wait on tables as easily yet as hardworking as he does with singing and dancing.
“Plus- you can exploit my pretty face! You have my full permission!” he suggests and laughs over the ideas. He’s not sure if his visual could be of any selling points, but to a certain extend, Jisu is a narcissistic and thinks decently of how good-looking he looks. “I can start today! Or, well, maybe try to prove myself to be useless-”
Sunhee was glad she was right, recognizing someone was always a good thing or she would have spent the entire day thinking of where she had seen him before. Granted, he was not giving any explanation as to why an idol was looking for a simple waiter job, but she decided not to ask more and to wait if he decided to share more information with her.
It was noted how quickly the subject was changed, which only reaffirmed that she shouldn’t ask more about the subject. She laughed at his references, nodding along “Placing dishes would be the first step, yes, you’re good on that at least” Being a waiter was much more than that and something told Sunhee that Jisu would learn that the hard way. “Being a fast learner is a good thing, you’ll need people skills and patience, oh so much patience, especially when they get drunk, this is a bar after all and the drunk clients are something we see every single day” She warned him with a smile.
“My full permission?” She laughed “You’ll be the one earning more if you’re good and nice to our clients so use your face as you wish, maybe you’ll have more luck if we put you in charge of tables with more women in them” She added, nodding at his excitement. “We usually start with a training period, working here is more than just serving drinks, I’ll assign you to a waiter and if you want to start today then he’ll be teaching you the basics. Still, I’ll be here all night if you need help or have doubts. I’m the manager so I have eyes everywhere all night”

yohangsw:
it still felt weird to be back on the island after so long away. the last time he had been home was five years ago when he was allowed some time off during a previous hiatus to visit his parents. and now he was back again during another extended hiatus, but there was the feeling that this one was never going to end. or, when it did, it was going to end with the news his contract had been terminated the his group were forcibly disbanded. and that was a rather hard pill to try and swallow.
yohan was just trying not to think about it, trying to remain optimistic that anything could happen. maybe they could be handed one last comeback, another chance to really try and push back into the spotlight again. all they needed was one shot, one music show win, just one breakthrough to finally be worth keeping around for a little longer. but if that was the case, then he needed to keep his voice in good condition and get in the practice. which was why he usually found himself at the pink room on nights like this.
he found a smile on his face as soon as he walked in the door, sunhee almost immediately noticing him and guiding him towards a table. “you know me, sunhee-ssi, you never need to force me.” singing was something he enjoyed doing, even if it was just entertaining a few people at a bar every now and again. and then the question about how he had been, yohan pressing his lips together for a moment as he he shifted he shoulders. “i have been alright, thank you.” he didn’t really want to tell her all the issues he had been having, he’d rather keep those issues to himself.
“I know I don’t have to but it’s still nice to receive something in exchange, even if it’s something to drink” That way Sunhee woudn’t feel like she was abusing their friendship, even when the other seemed to shine each time he sang and the applause seemed to be the one thing he needed. Sunhee would always feel a little embarrassed by asking, hence why it was so much better when he offered to sing instead of Sunhee begging him for it.
“Just alright? Are you going to tell me that your exciting life in this island is just alright? My boss will hate me if I don’t ask for more, you know how much the old lady loves gossip” And the life of an idol on their island? Well, her boss would love to hear what was happening with him, if he had some plans to stay, if he had met someone, if he had found a job. Whatever it was the older woman would love to know and share with others.
Sunhee wasn’t the best at gossip but it was almost part of her job description, the owner of the Pink Room was known for knowing everything that happened around the island so she just had to stay up to date with everything going on. “Your life should be a little more exciting”

Another free day means it’s time for Jisu to walk around and look for a job. He’s pretty much had three other jobs covered now but it isn’t enough for him to cover the demographics in finding any sort of clues that could lead to his sister. Sure, working at the flower shop and a few hours in the local library has kept him somewhat occupied, what not with the additional job he’s been hired to work in the local convenience store but still, it’s not enough.
He stops in his track as he sees a bar that stood rather colorfully among other dull buildings around it and on the window sign, a blessing in the form of a job opening, what not, a part time opening at that.
Jisu makes his way in, and he’s greeted immediately by lady whom he assumes is a staff. “Hi, Hello-” he greets back and shyly waves instead, “I’m uh, Jisu-” he points at the paper that’s taped to the window, “Do you still have that part time opening available? I’m in need of job-”
Sunhee couldn’t help but feel like she knows this man, and it’s an odd feeling to have when you are meeting someone from the first time. He was too young to be someone from high school and he was not a regular at the club, she knew them all. So she wasn’t sure if she knew him from her complex apartment or maybe the grocery shop. Who knows? Maybe he was truly just a common face (a pretty one!) and Sunhee was reading too much into it.
“Welcome Jisu, it’s still available, yes, I’m glad you’re interested, don’t tell anyone but pretty faces get more tips so if you really need a job this must be the best job for you” She said and then she laughed “Oh God I called you pretty, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to harass you or anything it’s just, you look so familiar..” She told him, tilting her head and looking at him again. Suddenly, realization came to her brain.
“You’re Jisu! I know you, you were part of this band... you still are, aren’t you? I don’t remember the name but I’ve definitely danced to your songs” She told him with a smile. She wanted to question why someone who was an idol needed a job at a bar but that would be too noisy of her. “Do you have any experience?”

This looked bad. See, Yongsoo wasn’t as great at handling emotional situations as he was with physical ones.
“Yeah, when you hit rock bottom, it can only go up.” He wasn’t sure if she was at rock bottom quite yet, but the point still stood. “Tomorrow will be a better day.” The key to comforting others, at least in his opinion, was in sounding confident. Fortunately, that was something Yongsoo was great at.
He still had some time before he had to be at the lunch, so Yongsoo took a seat on the bench next to Sunhee, adjusting the bouquet so he could sit comfortably. “Anything I can help with?” He felt like he said this line way too often to too many people, but that came with his nature. “Is it…a man?” It was a guess, but probably close to the truth judging by the way she was looking down at her hand.
Sunhee raised an eyebrow at his comment of hitting rock bottom, almost wanting to laugh because was it really that obvious? “Your optimism makes me feel a little better but your confidence makes me feel envious” She assured him, playing with the rose that was now in her hands. “Rock bottom, uh? What gave me away?” Maybe she was being more pathetic than she thought in the first place.
“Not really, I mean, you’re a good listener and that always helps but I doubt there’s anything to do in this situation” Sunhee shrugged. The girl had to move on and she knew it, but it was easier said than done “A man.. the man, or at least I thought he was the one, you know? I was with him for eight years and now he’s suddenly out of love” She took a deep breath, it was not a nice thing to admit to anyone.
“I don’t think I know how to be single anymore and I had plans you know? I’m getting older, what if I don’t get to know anyone and end up all alone and sad? With eight cats and three dogs? I’d be great at naming all of them, Yongsoo, I can already think of my animal’s names and I have none. Have I gone crazy?” She asked, feeling bad for the poor Yongsoo that had to deal with all her rambling.

starter for @yohangsw -  PINK VOICES
Sunhee wouldn’t consider herself a fan, not like the type to know chants and facts about members and bands. But she did know Yohan’s band and she knew a few songs, that she quite enjoyed, so maybe she was a soft fan, one that got excited each time Yohan came to the Pink Room because it meant she could hand him the microphone and have a little concert for free. Or well, in exchange of some drinks on the house, whatever Yohan wanted as poison.
So tonight was no different, the second he walked in Sunhee squealed and clapped, even when the other hadn’t said a single word “My favorite singer is here!” Sunhee exclaimed, immediately taking him to his usual table, “Don’t worry, I won’t force you to sing if you don’t want, I promise I won’t insist” She assured him with a big smile “I do have to offer you something to drink, whatever you want, on me for all the troubles I’ve caused you” That were many, in the girl’s opinion.
Truth was the entire club seemed to be more alive whenever Yohan sang, so maybe Sunhee felt a little guilty, even when Yohan claimed to enjoy it and do it because he wanted to, it was still some sort of job, even when it wasn’t a formal one because there were no payment involved, Sunhee felt like she owed him a lot and was trying her best to pay her debts. “How rude of me, start rambling without asking the most important thing: how have you been?”
