the concept for this list was: fifty books written by women about women, published within the past five years, (2017-now), that aren’t normal people and whatever else sally rooney just released. i also tried to avoid anything that gave explicitly rooney vibes. (here is why.) i stuck mostly with realism, though some have elements of fantasy or magic or horror. if you have questions about triggers for any particular book feel free to reach out.

i was reading through your masterlist of prompts and i realised something i dont see often: enemies to friends with benefits. do you have any prompts for this?
The question is: are they becoming actual friends or is it more like enemies with benefits?
Enemies to Friends with Benefits
Text Prompts
One minute ago they were fighting for real, next minute they were wrestling on a nice and comfy bed.
They called it friends with benefits or fuck buddies, but they were definitely still neither friends nor buddies.
Once was an accident, but that accident just kept on happening.
They would have to end it eventually, but in the meantime they could have a little fun.
Meeting your enemy for a little tryst should feel wrong, but it surprised them how exciting and just right it felt.
They knew what would happen if people found out about this, but it was too tempting not to try it once and too good to stop afterwards.
Dialogue Prompts
"This does not mean I like you. I just like to have fun."
"Don't even think about falling asleep. I'm kicking you out as soon as we're done here."
"I need someone to scratch an itch, and I hate to admit it, but you're good at scratching."
"If you tell anyone about this, I will kill you."
"Just some stress relief."
"I will never ever admit to this."
"You're good at this... not a compliment, just a fact."
"I may not like you, but physically speaking, I do see the appeal."
Have fun!
- Jana

Iris didn’t like sunny days. She was defineatly a cold, rainy day type of girl. Sipping hot chocolate and reading in her hoodie matched her aesthetic way more than sipping piñas coladas in a bikini.
However, she didn’t mind the sun coming though the car’s window, heating up her seat belt and turning everything around her a little golden.
Aaron was smiling next to her, which she thought it was odd giving he was driving for almost eight hours straight. He would even sing along the songs she had chosen for their playlist, those he knew anyway. Maybe it was the weather, but she doubted it. Aaron was the kind of guy who would just be Aaron, moody, happy or just simply annoyed, regardless of the climate.
Behind them, Josie mumbled another unrecognizable word in her sleep. Iris turned to look at her, lying on the back seats, using one coat as a pillow and another as a blanket. If a stranger saw a glimpse of the image, they would’ve probably thought it was a kid, not a seventeen year old.
Iris turned back to her seat, and her smile matched the one Aaron wore. They had mastered the art of understanding each other’s thoughts of Josie’s clueless and child like moments with only glances. She went back on looking at the road.
She would’ve had placed her head outside the window, feeling the wind in her hair like they did in movies, but she knew Aaron would make her go back to her seat and Josie would say a car could’ve had ripped her head out of her body, and she deducted it wasn’t worth the trouble.
It was calm, peaceful even. Her hair was no longer tight as it was when they had started driving, and she was seriously thinking about making a bun. Her shoes were nicely displayed on the floor, and her socks didn’t matched her hoodie. She was sure she either looked like a stressful mom or a college student about to take her midterms, but anxiety and worries were long gone at that moment. Until, of course:
“If we crashed, do you think she would run through the glass or end up at the floor?” Aaron asked.
“What?” She said, still looking at the road. She could now see the light move between the leafs. Yeah, she really didn’t mind the sun at that moment.
“Josie.” He said, pointing his head to their friend. “You think she would fly or just roll if we crashed?”
“This is a question I would bother answering it if I thought we could crash, but since we can’t.” She placed her hand on his chin and made him look at the road while he just rolled his eyes.
Iris wasn’t surprised or anything. It wasn’t the first weird Aaron’s scenario she had walked on to. She was usually the one with the mind for stories, but the dark twists were always his thing. Sometimes he went a little too far, but he wouldn’t be the Aaron she knew if he didn’t.
She still thought it was weird sometimes. How she had known him as a little kid, and wanting to murder him because he could never keep still for more than five seconds. Then growing up and growing apart, arguing about everything and nothing all at once and imagining she could never be friends with that person again. And then seeing him change. Finally giving in to Josie and giving him a chance. Learning his mistakes and allowing him to see hers. No filters, just them and the things they weren’t so proud of.
And before she realized, she couldn’t imagine not being friends with him.
“I feel like death.” Josie said out of prompt while getting up, causing Iris to flinch and Aaron to curse under his breath.
“Are you feeling sick again?” Iris asked, looking for another paper bag
“No.” Josie said between her yawns.
“Give her a bag, just in case.” Aaron said, and Josie made a face only she could do and Iris laughed.
Unlike her and Aaron, Iris and Josie could communicate whatever they wanted to just by looking at one another. Iris didn’t remember when they started, but she couldn’t imagine the day they wouldn’t. They didn’t shared a big, traumatic event that somehow linked the two of them. It was simply how they worked. They had a connection only the two do them could understand, and it couldn’t be felt by anyone else but them. It was what it was. Josie. Iris. Going through everything and a little more together.
The sun was starting to set, and Josie’s turned gold. Later on, that’s how Iris would ever picture her. Sunshine. Hope. Yes, she had her moments where she acted like a naive kid, but Iris had seen her grow. Really grow. She saw her making mistakes, and learning form them. Saw her getting her heart broken, only to hold her hand while she picked up the pieces and glued them back together. She was proud. Proud to be there, to be a part of that. Proud to be her friend. Her sister.
At that moment, Iris felt like home. She had been stressing bout college and future before high school finished, and she would probably be more freaked out if she wasn’t with two of the people she loved with her whole heart. The future was scary, to say the least. Although Josie had high hopes, as usual, she and Aaron were usually left with their fears. But not at that moment. In a few minutes Josie would go back to sleep and she and Aaron would have conversations based on tiredness and too much energy drinks for their own good. But at that moment, she was home.

books with strong and beautiful friendships
Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympian by Rick Riordan
The entire series focus on partership, loyalty and is FILLED with beautiful friendships.
The Selection by Kiera Cass
Even though the main focus is the love triangle and the governent, Marlee and America’s friendship is so pure and healthy, just like her relationship with her maids and the other girls. Also worth reading for Celeste and America (DEVELOPMENT EXCELLENCE)
On The Come Up by Angie Thomas
This book is perfect all by itself. The story is easy and nice to read, it’s very compelling and the subject it covers is just urgent to be talked about. Bri, Sony and Malik are defineatly an interesting trio, but Bri and Sony’s relationship outsold. I absolutely loved two character with different ambitions and thoughts getting along so well and deeply caring for each other while learnig to grow up. Also really loved how the insecurities about thieir future and friendship are played
To Killl a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
One of my favorite books EVER, I couldn’t leave behind Lira and Madrid. Their friendship screams girl power and it’s just so pure and real. They both really strong minded and independent woman, and I just loved how Madrid was so on board (pun intended) to have Lira on the crew and she was so sweet and welcoming amd friendly my heart just melts. And also Lira, who is so closed starts to trust her and care for Madrid in a way she never had before. Really, perfection
King’s Cage (TRQ 3) by Victoria Aveyard
Probably one of the darkest books of the series, but Farley and Cameron’s relationship was defineatly a glimmer of hope. It was just so natural and true and powerful. One of the mains topics covered in the series is trust, better the lack of it, and the two of them really proved how loyalty should work.
The Siren by Kiera Cass
Not my favorite by Kiera Cass, but the girl’s bond is woth mentioning. Honest. Heartbreaking
Six of Crows/Croked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
The whole trust thing the series covers is just my jam, but NINA AND INEJ. That’s it, that’s the thread. Really, beautiful, strong, real, healthy and another word for perfection
