idk if the outfits are outfitting i just started drawing and ?? but i like em so i hope y’all do too. ink definitely distracts dream with shiny stuff a lot cos he thinks it’s funny, swap disapproves (but he also thinks it’s funny so). killer is the first to find out about this in the team (as he is with most things when it comes to nightmare) and yeah he also definitely messes with nightmare sometimes. the others think it’s cute and funny (they can’t disagree no matter how hard they try man) but they’re not up for risking getting their asses kicked by nm on the daily (unlike killer lol). i like to think dream and nightmare used to mess with each other like this back in the day. also dream used to pick up pretty little trinkets and shiny things from the village that he thought nightmare would like! nightmare keeps them in a designated drawer in his office. dream also kept collecting things for nightmare after the incident, with the idea that he’d gift them all to nm after the made up. OH AND THE DRESS UP BIT. i literally dunno what to say to that i just hhhh they sooo do dress up and dance around and just have a good time doing nothing in particular and just being happy and AND. yeah you are just so based for this hc thank you juniii.

Exercises for all the homies who want to have a long career drawing.

The true problem with being an artist and drawing all day (as I wanted my whole life) is that human backs are not designed to hold that position, so it is very common for artists and designers to have really stiff shoulder blades, creating a chain of muscle strain towards the arm AND the back… and a lot of pain.

These are some physical exercises for artists and honestly anyone who works at a desk.

You Are Not Shipping the Way I’m Shipping and That’s Okay

TL;DR

Shipping can be a way to imagine things we’d actually want to happen (in canon or to ourselves). Shipping can also be an enjoyable way to explore other possibilities, no matter how unrealistic they might be. Both approaches are fine and everyone can ship however and whatever they want.

There are two distinct ways of shipping. (I’m not saying there are ONLY two ways, but my focus is on these two here.) I’ll refer to them as ”What If?” -shipping and ”Letter to Santa” -shipping.

”Letter to Santa” -shipping is about what you want. It’s wish-fulfilment and hope. Shipping lets you experience things you want to happen, either for the characters in canon or for yourself in real life. It’s escapism and longing. It’s indulgent daydreaming of sweet things with low stakes. It’s creating the things you don’t have, but wish you someday will. You hope your ship will become canon, because ”why would you ship it if you didn’t want them to end up together?” Shipping is just imagining it happening in several different ways, before it happens canonically. You are rooting for your ship.

”What If?” -shipping is about curiosity and imagination, and there are no limits. It’s like getting a chemistry kit and starting to do experiments, to see how different things react when put together. There are several different combinations you can try, and you can have different flavours, play with different tropes, go wild. The characters and the canonical material are there to be transformed into something new. Canon gives you a big bucket of play-dough in all the colours of the rainbow and you can do whatever you want with it. Scary, fluffy, cute, sexy, immoral, funny, disgusting, angsty, violent, romantic… You are just playing, creating different things because something inspired you and doing it in an environment where it hurts nobody. It’s titillating because it is NOT real. It is safe. Like  a horror movie or a haunted house in an amusement park.

People who use one of these approaches don’t always remember/understand that not everyone ships the same way. This can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts.

If a ”Letter to Santa” -shipper thinks that everyone’s shipping tendencies are motivated by ”realistic” wants and hopes, and a scenario from a ”What If?” -shipper is something they wouldn’t personally want, they might ask ”why would you ship that?!” Why would anyone want an abusive relationship? Why would anyone want these two characters to have it bad in the next season? Why would anyone crave pain, hurt, angst, abuse? To a ”Letter to Santa” -shipper, having a ship like this translates to ”you want this to happen to yourself or to these characters in canon.”

If a ”What If?” -shipper thinks everyone’s shipping tendencies are motivated by trying to come up with new and exciting cocktails using the ingredients you’re given, and they witness how ”Letter to Santa” -shippers keep creating domestic fluff and romantic scenarios of the characters finally getting together and kissing for the first time, they might ask ”why are you so boring and unimaginative, do you hate having fun?!” Why would anyone stick with just one ship and put them in cutesy vanilla scenarios over and over again, with no actual stakes or conflict?

One Correct Way to Ship does not exist. Ship and let ship.

HUGE DASHBOARD UNFUCKER UPDATE!!!

I'll spare you the boring details, but up until now, the script has reverted the vertical nav update by essentially waiting for the page to load most of the way, and then quickly moving everything back to where it should be. This works decently fine of course, but of course there are issues with feature parity when it comes to things that Tumblr removes outright. And every time Tumblr removes another feature, I have to manually spend anywhere from minutes to hours trying to replace it.

HOWEVER, update 3.0 does away with all of that by simply disabling the flag that marks your account as part of the vertical nav beta test before the page loads. This reverts your dashboard to the proper layout without shuffling anything around after the page loads and effectively disables the vertical navigation layout and all future updates to it.

I owe a massive thanks to @twilight-sparkle-irl for knowing how to deobfusticate Tumblr's hidden settings! I couldn't have done this without your work!!!

God I'm a sucker for characters who are so utterly loyal to someone that they're completely unhinged. Characters who have no moral compass except their overwhelming devotion to whoever they've chosen to listen to. That's the good shit

That first meeting had been by accident in an AU he'd assumed empty besides minor maintenance only to have himself proven wrong by nightbloom, the sole village inhabitant, it had been unexpected the first time. Someone who was worried about him who's own voice rasped quietly. It was not the first time he'd had someone worry for him.

and though he assured as best he could that he was 'fine', he didn't believe himself, let alone have anyone else believe him. But despite that, he continued visiting though there were often long stretches of time in between them due to his health. He always put it on his list to visit until the day he was certain he'd no longer be able to, if it ever got to that point.

For both of their sakes, he hoped it didn't.
