Yall I just had such an interesting idea, unfortunately I suck at writing:)) so I'll just drop it here why not.
An undertale fanfic where the MC is a genie in a bottle thats been traped for centuries until Papyrus finds them, think of the possibilities!!
Maybe Papyrus found the lamp whilst going on one of his jogs, maybe he decided to explore the less known areas of Mount Ebott, see the place he was trapped in for so many years from a different point of view.
Maybe he came across a strange object that reminded him of a very weird tea pot, Asgore would love it surely!!
Maybe the genie after being trapped for so many centuries finally got to see the outside of their prison again, got to see the sky and the clouds, taste a small but of freedom.
Maybe they get stuck with papyrus since he refuses to use their powers to "cheat" and be "a lazy bones like his brother", it drives them insane that he just won't get it over with!!!
Maybe a certain goat monster knows exactly who the genie is but refuses to share the information 👀
Maybe after a while the genie desperately tries to avoid granting papyrus's wishes, they don't want to go back into their small personal hell, alone and bored out of their mind.
Maybe they start to care for the sweet skeletons a bit more than they should.
Idk I just have this stuck in my head for so long and have noone to share it with!!!
Maybe this, but fit into the usual multiverse shenanigans??? The possibilities are endless!!

I'm about a hair's width away from commissioning someone to draw a picture of that scene from These Masks We Wear wear when the MC opens her eyes and Papyrus is just staring back from his cot.

For not the first time tonight you shift on your cot, turning to your side and hoping to find a position that might help you fall into sleep.
“IS THIS YOUR REVENGE? KEEPING ME AWAKE ALL NIGHT WITH YOUR TOSSING AND TURNING?” His voice startles you, crashing like thunder through the silence of the tent. There’s a particularly loud snore from Sans, but he only shifts over in his cot, falling deeper into sleep.
Lucky him.
You open your eyes and find two crimson pinpricks staring at you from within the darkness, only about a foot away from your face. Your eyes, unadjusted to the almost total darkness, can barely make out that Papyrus is laying on his side, facing you.
“Well excuse me for ruining your beauty sleep.” You rasp, voice husky from the press of the collar. You’re too exhausted for this damned banter.
The red lights disappear and you wonder for a moment if he’s decided to go back to sleep, until you hear a hushed voice call out, you barely pick it up. You sit up sluggishly, looking over in alarm-
…You couldn’t have heard him correctly.
