Hello there, i really wish i didn’t leave the platform temporarily only to come back with a topic like THIS but yeah.

if you are not aware, my country has been going through an inside war for women’s rights against mandatory hijab laws because of a 22 year old girl getting beaten to death by morality police for having improper hijab

her name is Mahsa Amini and her tag is being shared everywhere on twitter and instagram- #mahsaamini

basically the gist of the matter is that Iran has cut off internet in most of the country to silence us while they slaughter people on the inside. instagram, twitter, telegram, whatsapp and all other websites are closed off and will remain that way unless people get a bajillion vpns just to get a message across which is kinda what im doing now…

women are cutting their hair off and burning their scarves in the streets to show that they had enough all the while police attack people and teargas or shoot them.

now i am a teacher and an employee to the government, which in short terms means they have me on a leash and control my every move, otherwise ill be outed and dealt with, especially since im not a “straight woman” and for that alone i could get a death sentence let alone if they ever find what im drawing online…

therefore i may have to delete some posts or just make my accounts on different platforms private for a while until this all blows off because these fuckers DO snoop around peoples medias online. me and my dad work for the government and we have to go to the cities for work all the while there are gunshots being fired and police going around the place,

i might just be the next victim caught in the crossfire…

yesterday i got called by the government because some uni classmates or SPIES had said some shit about me and they made me recite a prayer for them and swear an oath of some kind to them. this scares me. i am powerless and voiceless. we need your help…

If you aren't paying attention to Iran, your a fucking idiot. They are taking away HUMAN RIGHTS. It's disgusting if you refuse to do the simplist things to spread the word. (Ex: share posts). I had asked a friend to start sharing posts from Iran and updates from Iran and she refused to because "it would mess up her pages aesthetic" but she was fine doing it on an ALT account. Her main account has 1k+ followers. And she fucking refused to do the basic thing to help the women of Iran and share a few posts. Because of fucking aesthetics. If that is not selfish I don't know what is.

the way western muslims have been responding to this situation has been appalling. from policing how iranian women protest by saying not to burn the hijab bc it’s islamophobic, to arguing that the hijab is a choice while also admitting it’s an obligation for women, to changing the topic from iranian women’s struggle to the struggles of western muslims.. none of it has shown ANY solidarity towards the majority of muslim women, who live in the eastern world. various iranian women have been harassed online for burning their hijab or taking off the hijab. and the saddest part is the non-muslim west has been split between two sides: the right uses the situation in iran to justify being racist & islamophobic and the left is justifying the iranian regime and tone policing iranian women while dismissing all forms of activism as useless. the contempt and the disregard the west has for middle easterners is exhausting.

I am FURIOUS and BAFFLED that major news outlets are not covering what’s going on in Iran right now and I don’t fucking have a twitter so I can’t make noise over there, even though apparently that’s the only social media platform people pay attention to????

Students at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran have been one group of many students and professors across the nation protesting, and NOW, the regime’s security forces have LOCKED THE STUDENTS IN THE UNIVERSITY AND ARE ARRESTING THEM IN MASSES AND SHOOTING AT THEM IF THEY TRY TO ESCAPE OUT THE GATES.

You have DOZENS of teenagers running for their lives in the dark while their parents and fellow citizens are protesting outside the gates chanting “free the students”. And NOW, the they’re sending more repression forces to the University!!

A BBC article says it’s unable to verify the events at the university in the same space it writes that VIDEO FOOTAGE on social media shows students RUNNING FROM SECURITY FORCES ON CAMPUS.

Share as much as you can about this on all of your social media platforms. Tag as many human rights activists and groups and news outlets you can think of to get the information out there. And if you have any friends or family in Tehran, let them know if they already don’t that people are mobilising to the university. Help the students!! Use the hashtags that are going around on social media (#mahsaamini, #jinaamini, #opiran, #iranprotests, to name a few).

Nika was a 17-year-old girl who disappeared on 20 September 2022 in Tehran during the protests. She was found dead ten days later. According to the forensic doctor, she was repeatedly raped and tortured for eight days. her body was stitched up from the stomach to the chest . Be our voice.
