I'm back! Sorry for the absence, everybody. A few things came up which needed urgent attention, but now it's just about sorted, and I feel ready to roleplay my Ludwig again! :) I hope I won't disappoint!
Please let me know if I owe replies, just to make sure I don't miss anyone!
Cheers! - Mun

[Raises an eyebrow slightly at the nick-name, but brushes it aside.]
Mr. Gilbert...what are you doing there? What is the matter?
I shall be a petulant child as much as I please, it’s not like I can grow up, anyway!
-he throws a pillow at the wall, where it lands with a thump-
I don’t want to be here anymore!

I've learnt German at intermediate level at university for a year, but it's a little shaky, and I feel that the only way I'll really, truly learn, and make it stick, is by going there and living with the relatives I have there for a while. That's what my dad always says. Just need to pluck up the courage and go.
I just feel really disappointed with myself when I see a fluent German speaker who lives out there--and I think, 'I should be like that', and I should use that as motivation for striving to be so. It's an increase in motivation stemming from a deep sense of disappointment I harbour within myself.

Can we just appreciate how cute Ludwig was as a child?

The nations do not all speak a special language, rather, they hear everything as their native language, much like what the TARDIS does for the Doctor and his companions. For example, Russia hears everyone speaking in Russian, and England and America would hear them speaking English. It doesn’t work on civilians; if an American citizen were to speak English to Germany, Germany would hear it as English and not be able to understand. Some countries also know more than one language.

Grüß Gott. [Open starter - 1866!Ludwig]
Tumblr media
Ludwig was frightened. He hadn’t felt so much so other than the occasions on which he awoke screaming from nightmares he could not understand. He had arrived in Berlin barely a half hour ago, and already the fears that had been squirming around in his stomach during the journey there was making him want to throw up.
He had met his so-called ‘big brother’, the Kingdom of Prussia, and felt all the worse for it. The officers who had escorted Ludwig whispered their doubts in earshot of the child as he was ushered inside, and did so afterwards as they turned uneasy faces to his anxiety-ridden one.
The meeting itself had lasted barely five minutes, with the powerful kingdom, recently victorious from the war that had brought Ludwig to him, crouched low and took the boy’s face in his hands. Prussia had looked into the child-nation’s fearful eyes with rapture as he praised the looks that, to him, bespoke a latent greatness.
Ludwig was not so sure. Never had been, and now, believed it even less. He did not know what he had to do, and he did not know the intentions of the powerful influence who had taken control of him. He could do nothing, small and uncertain as he was, to actively realise the ends Prussia had in mind for him, nor understand enough to challenge it, if he had the mind to.
The land of Austria seemed so far away now.
Now, sitting in his assigned room upon the bed, looking at the unfamiliar things and breathing in the unfamiliar air enclosed in the unfamiliar four walls, the recently dubbed North German Confederation began to cry.
