Doctors: there seems to be a correlation between developing FND and traumatic experiences so it is possible your disease was triggered by something like that.
Me: oh yeah I can see that. Getting ignored by doctors when I pleaded with them for relief from the severely disabling pain caused by my other chronic illness was pretty traumatic and definitely proceeded my symptoms
Doctors: ...

Hello, I just found something really important if you’re chronically ill/disabled.
I’ve had to contact the crisis line before— both the phone hotline and through text. Whenever my struggles also had to deal with chronic pain or my disabilities, I would always hear the, “You’re so brave!” Or, “You’re such an inspiration.”
And we all know how that is.
While lying on a heating pad and being able to relax because to medicine, I finally got hit with the idea to search “Chronic pain text line” on Google. I found one that is ran by disabled people. This is located in the US, and I’m not sure if there are ones in different countries.
Replies won’t be immediate as there are certain windows of time (based on your location) that responders will be available, but you can easily check the calendar to see what times you’d be able to connect with someone.
If you’re interested, you can text CARE to
+1 (202) 596-6520
It’s for every disabled person, those diagnosed, those undiagnosed, and anyone who needs support.
Take care of yourselves. 🌿

Whenever I feel down because of my chronic illness I tell myself that at least I'm not allergic to dogs and it immediately lifts my mood.

Me: If I don’t take pain meds, there is a decent chance the pain will wake me up every couple hours.
Me: But if I do take pain meds, they’ll screw with my sleep cycle, & there’s a decent chance I will wake up every couple hours.
Me: Sooo…. What do I do?
Also Me, filing my nails: Suffer, apparently.

Sometimes I feel like my disabilities aren’t enough to disqualify me from working Like A Normal Person
Sometimes I worry that when I try to get on disability, The Government People are going to scoff and throw my application in the trash because I don’t have it bad enough
And then I sit here, on the last day of the month, 16 hours before my monthly deadline, like I’ve done every single month for the last 3 years, icing my wrists so I can do my entire month’s work (9k words in commercial articles) in the 8 hours I have left before I have to stop and go to my therapy appointment…
… And I realize that it really is that bad.
