Finally, an actual guqin piece in genshin. Finally. You simply cannot find this stuff in any western media (movie or show or game or whatever) that claims to have Chinese cultural elements in it or tries to portray Chinese culture, I'm sorry but it's true. This is precisely why I kept saying that everyone needs to tell their own stories for this representation thing to work. You cannot have others tell your story and expect it to be good representation.

Chenyu Vale music is what Liyue music should have been and I stand by that claim. The main Liyue soundtrack is good but in the end it's mostly a orchestra rendition of Chinese-sounding tunes, whereas Chenyu Vale music actually incorporated many Chinese traditional instruments.

So lynette's quest is basically baldurs gate............
Ugh. I'll be honest I absolutely hate chance mechanics in storytelling. If bg3 wants to have that, fine whatever, it's based on dnd, but chance in genshin story quests? Fuck no.

Can't help but remember that one time when my coworker threw away 3/4 of a plate of perfectly good food and then proceeded to make fun of how "the older generations are always so pissy over dumping food"
I'm not going to do the whole "there are starving kids in Africa" thing because realistically, even if these assholes are willing to donate food very little of it will find their way to the actual starving kids in Africa, but there are starving people on the streets of America, right now. These are people they can encounter in person, right now. Oh but let's get our panties in a wad over people on the other side of earth being able to afford eating meat and drinking milk because "if they can all eat better they will destroy the environment"

divine right of kings: it is not our place to question the King, for he is appointed by the Almighty God the mandate of heaven: well we sure overthrew the hell out of that guy. I knew he wasn't meant to be Emperor

A long time ago, I also used to believe the lie that "Chinese culture is gone", but that simply isn't true. The thing is, a lot of older Chinese people still practice it, and it's definitely not for show. People still believe in certain things. For example when my paternal grandfather passed away, he wasn't rushed home from the hospital in time, so he died at the hospital. Seems normal for modern circumstances, right? But ever since then there's been worried talks among other family members, they said he's cursed to become a wandering lost ghost, and this is all because he died away from home. I was a little surprised to hear this, because the "general consensus", even among Chinese people in China, is that "traditional culture is gone in cities, only remnants remain in rural areas", but my entire family is made up of city-folk, and we've been city-folk for as long as the city existed (we are natives). When they told me my grandfather would become a wandering ghost, it's not a metaphor, nor is it simply a nod to the culture. They meant what they said, and they believed in what they said. The culture is alive.
Also just in this case alone, I suppose this is part of the meaning of "fallen leaves should return to the root" (落叶归根). Most (younger) people nowadays understand it by its "metaphorical" meaning, that it means we are deeply connected to where we come from, but there is so much more to this. This is a belief that concerns life after death, people believe in it because they are concerned about what their existence after death will be like, almost like how Christians are concerned about whether they will go to heaven or hell. Of course that doesn't mean the "metaphorical" meaning is a modern invention; it's only the result of a "meta" analysis of the "why" and is still rooted in traditions.

What is it with Tesla drivers and reckless driving? Saw multiple Teslas go ~25 over speed limit in just the past two days (not on freeways/highways); one was even speeding and switching lanes back and forth in a school zone, no less.

Anticipation (real this time because she's about to get two pokes in the butt)

Also: when you were so spicy that everyone at the clinic remembered you 🤪
Like no joke last time she came here for something more than a check-up, they asked me to get her out of the kennel myself because she was screaming the whole time lol, so loud that you can hear her wherever you are in the building 💀
Now I know how it feels to be that mom at the pediatric clinic with the screaming kid 🤪
