My opinion : Babs was deaged to be with Dick.
Okay so I've seen so many dickbabs shippers try to deny that Barbara was deaged to fit Dick for the purpose of defending dickbabs or make them look better i guess. They keep saying that wasn't the reason why she was deaged. they always point to the 1st time she got deaged.
like why are they so upset when they see people say that. I wonder if they care more about the ship than barbara as an individual character.
cuz if they truly liked Barbara separately from Dickbabs maybe all the anti-dickbabs comments wouldn't be an issue for them. 🤷♀️
anyway i'm going to explain why it's true.
here's the thing :
Barbara was deaged multiple times
Crisis on Infinite Earths wasn't the only time she was deaged, she got deaged again in other books/continuites.
So The real question is where did they deaged her to be the same age as Dick to make them work not when was she first deaged. (we all know it's always in dickbabs comics where she's written as the same age as dick, i wonder why)
The 1st time she was deaged was in Crisis on Infinite Earths, it was so Jim could be younger but they only decreased her age slightly because she's still written as older than Dick, here is a panel from Secret Origins #20 that was published in 1986 exactly 1 year after she was deaged in Crisis on infinite earths (1985) she said Dick is too young for her and that batman is always the one on her mind. So Dickbabs during this time still has a big age gap so they're still unable to work.
The 2nd or 3rd time she was deaged is in dickbabs comics where she was finally made the same age as Dick so dickbabs can finally work as romantic pairing.
Instead of being older she's now written as a part of Dick's generation.
From a congresswoman to someone who went to highschool prom with Dick.
Even Tom Taylor wrote them as childhood sweethearts so he can portray them as soulmates in his comics. a huge wtf moment for me because Babs wasn't originally this young when she first met Dick 😭
pls She had a PHD, has been working as a librarian and congresswoman when dick was still a young boy in gotham.
Barbara is now written as a part of his generation and his one true love since day 1. (from an independent congresswoman to Dick's childhood sweetheart and girlfriend who revolves around him)
Before Dickbabs couldn't work because of their age gap but now they can work. thanks to dickbabs comics deaging barbara again and this time for the sole purpose of reducing Babs into Dick's love interest.
So Just because she wasn't deaged to be with Dick in her 1st deaging doesn't mean she wasn't deaged to be with Dick in her 2nd or 3rd deaging 🙃
Dickbabs shippers can deny it all they want but at the end of the day dickbabs wouldn't have worked out if she wasn't deaged to be the same age as dick.
and even if they're right, let's say for the sake of their argument they're right that babs wasn't deaged to be with dick, it still doesn't change the fact that dickbabs is weird.
Regardless if Babs was deaged to be with Dick or not, It's still weird to see Dick being put in a relationship with a woman who was originally a congresswoman when he was still in highschool.
It's like deaging Batman into a teenager (like let's say it's because they want to make Bruce appealing to teenagers) but years later they decided to give him a love interest who is also a teenager as part of the new batman stories.
So even though his deaging has nothing to do with women or shipping in the first place, it's still weird to suddenly see Batman in a relationship with women who are a part of dick's generation knowing he was originally much older than them.
Like Bruce/Raven or Bruce/Starfire suddenly becoming a thing 🤢 No amount of deaging would be able to justify those pairings.
The same happened to Barbara she was originally a part of Batman and Superman's generation.
for goodness sake she dated Superman!!!! She was so much older than Dick.
Also remember when Dickbabs was originally a pedo-like ship and it was so controversial and hated the same way Brucebabs was hated today? Because Barbara the adult woman is kissing minor grayson but now she's fully making out and having sex with minor grayson in dickbabs comics.
The reason why Dickbabs fans don't want people talking about this is because they care more about making dickbabs look good than barbara's independence. They don't care that Barbara lost her independence, her phd, her solo careers, her librarian and congresswoman job because of dickbabs shipping.
They don't view Barbara as a character seperate from dick. Barbara is trapped in this relationship because of people like them. They don't fight for Barbara's independence. The only thing they want from her is to be the girlfriend of Dick and nothing else. It is so hard for them to let Barbara Gordon be independent and not just “Nightwings girlfriend."
Barbara's real enemy is the dickbabs ship. Before, she is able to stand on her own, but now she's nothing more than just a love interest who can't live without dick and too dependent on him and his solo books to exist.
DC really needs to get Barbara some actual character building that doesn't involve Nightwing whatsoever but it's hard to do that when she won't even stop chasing Dick nonstop like a dog in his solo books and thinking about him 24/7 because of writers like tom taylor who is always busy making babs' entire personality all about dick than writing solo babs stories.
Dickbabs is unnecessary and disservice to her character, it does nothing for her independence. She is forever demoted to Dick's love interest unless they free her from this ship.
poor babs she deserves better than people who only want to associate her with dick 24/7.

I saw this video and I couldn't agree more of what they said.
I'm sick and tired of dickbabs. It's being shoehorned everywhere, I can't read Nightwing's solo without Babs showing up every single issue, Tom Taylor turned his solo into a Dickbabs shipping book.
Batgirls is supposed to be about Stephanie and Cassandra's book but Babs took their spotlight and forced her relationship with Dick in it too.
DC vs Vampires is supposed to be about DC universe as a whole fighting against vampires but they centered it around Dickbabs in the end.
and now in the Titans series and even in Starfire's tales of the titans solo issue Babs shows up even though she's never been a titan character???? And Babs has to take up space, why?? Why can't I read a book solely about Starfire, why do they have to share her book with Babs, don't we have enough Barbara Gordon in the comics especially in Nightwing solo.
Starfire and the Titans never needed to be monitored by Barbara, they never needed her help to accomplish their own missions since 1980 but ever since DC and Tom Taylor started pushing dickbabs , she now keeps showing up in Titans and every single other book where dick shows up, she's now attached to dick's team 24/7, is this to keep closer with dick as much as possible?????
Babs is now in charge of Dick's team??? She's now the tech support of the Titans ?? What about Cyborg??? Why does Cyborg seem useless in the Titans book. Why is it that he no longer does most of the computer/tech stuff for the team. You're gonna sideline Cyborg who is the actual Titan tech support and the actual information broker of the group over a non titan character like Babs???
Seriously. Babs has become the female version of Batman, where writers are too obsessed with her and keep shoehorning her in other characters books and stories. You don't see writers forcing Starfire and her relationship with Dick in Batfamily books so why force Barbara and Dickbabs in Titans books.
Look I know dickbabs is currently in a relationship right now because writers keep forcing the two but Babs doesn't always have to follow dick wherever he goes and she doesn't always have to show up in books where he shows up. It should not be a requirement. Let Dick be on his own with other people for once.
You can be in a relationship with someone but still do your own thing with other people at the same time. Like in real life does your partner always follow you wherever you go 24/7? no right?! Because everyday we wake up and go to work , your partner has their own job and own workplace too seperate from yours so why should Babs always be around Dick as if she have doesn't have a life or a job of her own, can't she do anything without Dick nowadays????
I don't like how her character has become reliant on Dick, it's like she can't exist without being around him or mentioning him. Everything she does revolves around dick. She even left her own life in gotham so she could stay with Dick in Bludhaven every single issue, and even when she goes back to Gotham temporarily like in Batgirls she still finds a way to bring up her relationship with dick like that time in Batgirls where she has to mention she is wearing Dick's underwear??????
Set them free of this relationship for once DC smh

It's so downright disrespectful and degrading when DCComics and dickbabs writers dismiss a tortured slave and immigrant as just the slutty alien dick never really loved just cuz they think that the white woman dressed in a batcostume is his "one true love."
They're so petty asf. I'll never forget all the damage they've done to Kory's reputation just to prop up their retconned ship.

The previously platonic relationship between Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon rapidly became a romantic one. After Dixon left Nightwing and Birds of Prey future writers continued to push the relationship.
Unfortunately, the relationship between Dick and Barbara wouldn't just be explored in the present. It was also subject to a variety of retcons, each designed to rewrite the history of the two characters and turn them into some sort of grand love affair. However, the constant retcons, ignorance of the characters' histories, and disrespect paid to other characters make Dick/Babs Nightwing's worst relationship.

What i say: I like Nightwing and Starfire as a couple.
In my head: Dick and Starfire were one of the best couples DC ever had. They had a engaging and developed relationship and was even ready to get married at one point, but in the 90s DC moved Dick from the Titans editorial to Batman and since none of the titans (especially Starfire) are involved with Batman they went and tried to make there relationship as insignificant as possible with retcons even pushing the myth that there relationship was only sexual and Dick didn’t tuly love her. Ending with Dick flat out saying he didn’t love her anymore. And THEN with the New52 they completely retconned the relationship all together leaving them as just exes. DC went out of there way to make there relationship as irrelevant as possible and i will always be salty about it.

hi im new to comics can you help me understand what really happened the night before dick and korys wedding. i heard dick cheated on kory with babs. did that really happened or was it from a different universe. ive seen a lot of panels where dick says he loves kory a lot so im not sure if this cheating thing is really true?
It kind of depends.
When the DickKory wedding was originally planned in the 80s, it was supposed to happen a lot differently. For one, there was going to be a Starfire and Nightwing solo book in which Kory would have been kidnapped and Dick would have gone to save her. They would have fought some villains, had some space adventures and the story would have culminated with Dick finally feeling ready to propose and doing so. That would all lead up to issue #100 of NTT in which they would have married and basically lived happily ever after.
So that’s what should have happened. What was meant to happen. Here’s what really happened. In the late 70s, the editorial team in charge of all things Batman decided that they had run out of uses for the character of Robin (Dick Grayson). Because of this, the character was transferred from the Batman editorial team to the Titans editorial team, since Marv Wolfman and George Perez had a bunch of ideas to reinvigorate the series. This, New Teen Titans was born. A couple years into the series, the Batman editorial noticed just how popular Robin had become during New Teen Titans and requested him to be returned. Wolfman and Perez were able to compromise. They kept Dick Grayson and turned him into Nightwing, while the Batman editorial team got Robin in the form of Jason Todd. Of course, both of them thought that meant the end of the argument but unfortunately it didn’t. Right before the DickKory wedding, the Batman editorial again requested Dick Grayson back and this time they wouldn’t take a compromise. Because of this, the DickKory wedding was turned into the disaster it is now and Dick Grayson was removed from Titans editorial. Still, the whole cheating on Kory with Babs thing wasn’t a part of the continuity. Instead they broke up because Raven killed the priest at their wedding and they just kind of took it as a sign that maybe it was a bad idea.
This was all during the 80s and early 90s. A couple years later Nightwing had his own solo series. In the second annual of the solo series, the writer of the series decided that Nightwing had cheated on Kory right before their wedding. In this version of the story, Babs had just been injured during the Killing Joke and so Dick went to see her and they ended up sleeping together. This issue is largely regarded as extremely out of character, not only for Dick (who has always been vehemently loyal) but also for everyone else involved. It also has a lot more to do with DC corporate politics than actual storytelling. When Dick was switched back from Titans to Batman editorial teams, the Batman team refused to let him take Kory with him. Because of that they had to make sure everyone forgot about their relationship and since then have been continuously trying to put it down and cover up the love they shared (calling it everything from meaningless to lust when in reality it was a decades long serious love story).
Overall, to answer your question, technically yes Dick cheated on Kory with Babs, but it’s important to remember that not only was this not the original plan and completely out of character for all parties, it was also never mentioned again by any other writer or artist and is largely thought to be retconned and not canon.
