Sept 17th
Hello #kammunity,
I, Nevin Webster, am back at it with my little coffee shop podcast with two episodes dropping today!
At 4:20, the episode I recorded w/ Acacia Leilani of The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce a week a go will be released. We talk about her role at the chamber and her roots in the community including the Kamloops Ambassador program.
At 7:10, my episode with Todd Sullivan drops, where the conversation takes a darker different turn as we talk about mental health, creative expression and what is considered "in bounds" these days.
At least that is what I remember since this is "Kamloops' Unscripted Podcast" which means its unfiltered, uncut & 100% raw open conversations over coffee in a local coffee shop.
You can find "Kameo w/ Nevin Webster" wherever you get your podcasts including Spotify, Youtube & iTunes. Any comments, reviews, engagement or criticism is welcome.
As my friend Kairos (from a previous episode) says "Time & Pressure Make A Diamond" and I am grateful for everyone who has been patient with me... Especially my family.

YOUTUBE PODCASTS: AND WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE YOURS THERE
I’ve noticed myself looking to “sample” a podcast on YouTube more and more before subscribing to it in my podcatcher of choice.
I have also noticed many podcasts are not on Youtube, which is crazy to think when YT is the 2nd biggest search engine that is actively monetized & trying to develop into a full service social media platform.
When I sample a podcast, I am judging if I am to subscribe by the following criteria:
Content that is relevant to my interests
Archive to binge if they catch my attention
Someone who I feel I could get a coffee with
TLDR: I want to “taste” their “flavour” before buying the “meal”; put your podcast on YT.

Where did you grow up? How did your upbringing influence your career?
I got the opportunity to take many “enrichment” classes in my primary years including being part of the “gifted” program from Grade 4-8. Being apart of these programs allowed me to flex my creative skills and learn what is possible when you have resources available to you so that you can succeed.
What do you see as the biggest challenge in your market?
The biggest challenge is that I am in city that is slow to adapt to digital marketing. So I am a bit ahead of where of what my market is comfortable with but that is why my podcast is a long term strategy.
How do you continue to educate yourself?
I am a tinkerer. I play with every website or app that I come across and just try every combination available. I like hands on tactical learning through experimentation. I have been studying for years and years now I am trying to focus on execution. Audio when I have the time is my preferred way to learn, whether it be with an audiobook, podcast or YouTube video.
What role do partnerships and relationships play in your career?
They play very heavily. Everyone knows someone who could be a potential customer and with the internet, anyone in the world could potentially be a client. Since I work for myself, I have to trust that I am making the correct partnerships and relationships to accomplish our collective goals.
True or false? Hard work solves almost anything. Tell us why you feel this way.
I would say it’s true in my case but that is only because I have had certain resources others haven’t had access too. Hard work and grinding things out will only get you so far. I have proven that by running 2 ultra-marathons on very little training, but I didn’t preform very well.
What achievement are you most proud of?
Ringing the New Year as a family-supporting business owner.
What’s next in your career?
I am taking my podcasting interviews beyond Kamloops by buying some new equipment to improve my production for remote episodes.
What advice do you have for our readers?
Most of the time, old content can be re-purposed to reach a new audience on a new medium. I believe that the 80/20 rule applies to distribution of content. Spend 80% of your time distributing your content and only 20% creating.
Is it possible for our readers to hire you or work with your team?
Absolutely, I can be reached very easily by simply Googling me or find all my information at kameo.ca.

So here I am, after not making any posts on this blog after trying to do daily, oh well… its not like I haven’t been trying to re-coup back my investment…
So far my biggest GAIN on my investment is getting joy by chatting with my peers about the nostalgia of pokemon & making a few joking posts on some forums. I also have been tracing some cards & pokemon characters for friends since I can’t give them a physical card but I can send them a little drawing.  no, I don’t have the above card, but I like adding my own “filter” to it… that amount of effort meant a lot to the individual who is was desinged for… and that brings me some happyness.  Also I have changed my Twitter handle to remind me that I am a “Trainer”. I am not just trying to train myself to be the very best, but also train those willing to be there very best. I honestly hate seeing / hearing that come outta me but since I have the “filter” of pokemon on the blog, I can kind joke it off… but its true, we gotta try to level each other up and help out how we can.
And so I am doing exactly that. I am trying to level up my game but also my head. Because I wanna be the MACHAMP.

Many of us are now planning or heading off to various summertime locations; such as the cottage, campgrounds, hotels, resorts, homes of distant family and friends or staying in the oasis of our own backyards!  This is a fitting tribute to the summer holiday.
My Canada, Adventures in the Minnie Winnie. Designed and Hooked by KWRHG member, Judy Rys, from a photograph of her 1999 Minnie Winnie Winnebago. Advice and support was appreciated from teacher, Anne Lockhart and the students in the A Story to Tell class at the Newfoundland and Labrador Rug Hooking Guild’s 2018 Rug School, in Lewisporte, NL. On linen with new and re-cycled wool strips and yarn (mostly yarn for this piece), 20"x16".

Hello everyone… do your photos & videos go to the cloud? If so, you could mass pull some and make a IGTV piece today… I am currently listening to Gary talking about how we are in the Golden Age of social media. These TOOLS are going to disappear eventually, so if you are struggling to figure out how to DOCUMENT, then lets chat and figure out what medium works for you. Are you a writer? Are you a talker? Do you like being in front or behind the camera? What content do you have in your archive that you can remix to make relevant again? What are your passions & hobbies? And how can you arrange your life to allow you to make & distro content at scale? video related; something triggered this memory and so I made the vide below in 10 seconds to be shared in that conversation which then prompted me to write this. pease&love

inspired to try my hand at trading cards, i bought $85 worth of cards that might fetch me $30ish in resale with a chance to break even.
but I can turn these cards into content to tell stories and teach parents about a part of the culture that impacts their kids… I just saw a mom saying she just learnt that Beyblades has souls. LOL
Luckily I got the full set of Machop cards including a Holo so that I can continue to tell a story that I have already been telling.
I also recently got a DM from (NAMEREMOVED) about documenting vs EDUCATION/ENTERTAINMENT… Does this not sound like it all?
This is me trying to turn the L into a W. *reblogs to tumblr* I just remembered seeing some trap rapper using a beyblade in a song

$85/1000
Tumblr media
So I am a few days into my research into Pokemon and I have already realized a few assumptions that I made were wrong…  Firstly, the actually game is much simpler to play than when I first tried to play it in grade school and how closely it resembles the the Gameboy version of the game in terms of battle game play.
Secondly, I figured that the the PTCGO codes would be undervalued by the local sellers and over valued by the PTCGO community. In fact it turns out that it is the inverse. The sellers of the codes in my local community seem to be tuned in that the codes has some value to those who demand. With that demand it allows them to sell codes for more than someone like myself would want to spend. For example, the roughly 58+ codes I bought for $15, might be worth $30 if I sell them individually at their values posts online, but depending on where you look, they could be worth less than I paid depending on how fast you want to unload the cards.
Thirdly, there is a “rotation” of cards built into the TRG that forces players to remain involved in deck building to allow for tournament play. The rotation adds an element of hype within the Pokemon TCG community. This impacts the valuable of both physical cards value but also the value of the corresponding codes.
UPDATE I spent $85 buying 1000+ Pokemon cards with the earliest being from 2014. From my research, if I am looking to collect cards, I need to be looking for cards from 2003 and earlier. However, after reviewing the cards that I bought, I can certainly make back the money by making booster packs to resell. If I sell 10 min packs for $10, I would make back my initial investment, but it would also let me test to see who is buying or if they are interested in buy because I believe the Pokemon “collectors” are still mostly kids these days, who don’t understand the game play or understand how the resell value. The value proposition of Pokemon for school children has not changed since I was in school; the value comes from the validation you get from others, rather than the actual market or game strategy value of the card.
Tumblr media
WHAT’S NEXT?
I am going to sort these cards and start to categorize them in a speadsheet to see what sort of dollars we are looking at for resell value and then begin bundling cards together for resell. I also want to create a deck for myself to play in person, so if I have the chance to play someone, I am ready. I am also going to keep playing the PTCGO to learn more about the community & engage in the forums around the game. For the $100 I am invested into Pokemon TCG, ahead in understanding the culture by forcing myself to research and learn more. I have found an interesting podcast about the card game called PTCG Radio that is very insightful into the enthusiasm around Pokemon.  Furthermore, I do want to research more into the Pokemon World Championships as I feel like I could develop the skills to compete if I focus on understanding Pokemon community.
