I am slowly losing my mind over the shift towards video as the default media format.

I do not find this to be an efficient way to absorb information. I am bored and distracted by the time the largely unnecessary introduction is over. I can't use ctrl+f to find the specific information I'm looking for. If there are instructions to follow, I don't want to have to constantly pause and back up to the part I need.

OMG FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO DESPISES FANON!REMUS !!!! I'm not a big fan of him in canon either, but I still think he's a very interesting character and absolutely hate the way his character has been completely destroyed in fanon.

We don't know an awful lot of details about the marauders in canon, but their dynamic is still made very clear: that Remus was not an Alpha Male (TM), needs-to-hold-back-James-and-Sirius. Like we see how Lupin regrets not reeling them in more as an adult. We see that he didn't agree with how they bullied Snape, but he was also too afraid/cowardly to stop it from happening because he didn't want to lose his only friends. We see that whole convo he has with Harry in DH, where he runs away from his Tonks and his kid and Harry literally calls out his flaw of being a coward. He was certainly more responsible than James and Sirius, and wasn't such a follower like Peter, but he absolutely turned a blind eye and is nothing like the "hot alpha leader" (as u described). I hate post-ATYD characterisations so much

Bunny is the most "good" person in the classics gang. The others are violent at worst (Henry and Charles), and cowardly at best (Richard, Francis, and Camilla to an extent), but still assume a sort of moral high ground and hide their true grotesque nature behind the need for aestheticism and "beauty" (quite literally the "morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs"). Bunny, on the other hand, is obnoxious, rude and inconsiderate, but he wears that on his sleeve. The contrast humanises Bunny, and even tho he is the sort of person I would find annoying af and would avoid, he in no way deserved to be murdered.

Francis is a bit more sympathetic than some of the other characters, but he still isn't a good person. He obviously feels immense distress at their actions, but he still remains silent and is too cowardly to actually do anything about it. What's the use of having a moral compass if you don't follow it? And he explicitly punished for his inaction in the narrative (i.e. the forced marriage despite his sexuality, suicide attempts iirc, etc.). He literally has the line "forgive me for all i did, but mostly for the things I did not" (paraphrased).

He was doing the opposite of "just vibing," and if you think Bunny was a worse person than the gang, or deserved what he got then you are falling into the exact same trap that Richard did

I was watching a YouTube review for The Secret History, and the person voiced that there was nothing sad about Bunny’s death and that one could really only be happy about it, and that Francis was just there vibing the whole novel, not doing anything wrong. And that’s when I clicked off the review. I mean, this is fiction so you’re welcome to be happy Bunny died. He’s not real and also functions as a part of a story, and if you’re glad he’s out of there, fine. But I’m sorry I just do not think that was a happy occasion or that Francis was “just vibing.” 😭
