I've been working on my ungulate lad... He's a Bongo!!!
The Mr Hobby Super Clear UV cut Flat sealant finally arrived so I could get on with him... Mostly coloured with mica pigments and a little of the same pigments mixed with varnish for details.
I might stick fur to his ears !

This is one of my favorite repaints, but her factory hair is full of glue, and it’s starting to seep, so I need to clean her up and give her new hair before it ruins the rest of the doll.
Tumblr media
No going back now…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cut her head open with a heat knife so it wouldn’t bend the head and crack the sealant, and then I slowly and carefully pulled the glue away. The seam in her head can be repaired with hot glue since it doesn’t need to hold up to rerooting—her new hair will be glued on in a permanent updo.

Much better!!

So this is actually a custom I've personally been wanting to do even if I don't think anyone else really knows about it. So in the 1980s She Ra line there was a playset vehicle/carry case called the Butterflyer which was heavily based on a ship but butterfly wings and the mast head was in the shape of a woman.
The mast head of the toy clearly used a Mattel Steffie sculpt and I've always wanted to make a doll of her.
Tumblr media
I finally got around to rerooting this Steffie head I've had for awhile using Peony Synatra hair from @customdollhairAU and custom matching the Steffie head to a Disney Store Elsa body. I know the original vehicle has white skin but I feel like the soft purple really adds to her otherworldly nature.
Doing a dupe on the 1980s Mattel paint style was kind of hard especially when you can't afford to make mistakes on custom painted skin, but I'm really how she came out.
I've been uninspired to use this Steffie head before because the 90s skin tone is sooooo orange so turning her in Butterflyer makes me really happy.

Meet Sir Henry, my latest doll project.
Tumblr media
Sir Henry's head used to be a pen decoration, his body is a 1/6th scale male fashion doll and I made his outfit.
I don't know where I got his boots, they're plastic and fit him perfectly. These cheap boots often come with a split at the back and I filled this split with Apoxy Clay, first time working with this sculpting material.
Tumblr media
I love it! I think Apoxy Clay works very well, just like Fimo, but without the terrified step of baking, because it's air drying.
I also sculpted some faux screws, which I painted and later attached on his backpack.
Apoxy Clay consist of two components and I mixed a little to much; not to waste I used the remainder to sculpt some doll jewelry.
Tumblr media
After glueing on the faux screws, his steampunk contraption is finished.
Tumblr media
I made this backpack from all sorts of (left over) materials: cardboard, fabric, metal scrapbook and jewelry materials, all sorts of plastic caps and other small components. To give it the right look, I painted many of these parts with acrylic paint in copper and blue/green for the oxide.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the decorations and faux buttons on his coat I used metal book corners and jewelry materials.
Tumblr media
To give his boots and coat this old look, I used black and brown soft pastels.
I love my Sir Henry ♥️

At 40, Franz Kafka (1883-1924), who never married and had no children, walked through the park in Berlin when he met a girl who was crying because she had lost her favourite doll. She and Kafka searched for the doll unsuccessfully. Kafka told her to meet him there the next day and they would come back to look for her.
The next day, when they had not yet found the doll, Kafka gave the girl a letter "written" by the doll saying "please don't cry. I took a trip to see the world. I will write to you about my adventures."
Thus began a story which continued until the end of Kafka's life.
During their meetings, Kafka read the letters of the doll carefully written with adventures and conversations that the girl found adorable.
Finally, Kafka brought back the doll (he bought one) that had returned. “It doesn't look like my doll at all," said the girl.
Kafka handed her another letter in which the doll wrote: "my travels have changed me." the little girl hugged the new doll and brought her happy home.
A year later Kafka died. Many years later, the now-adult girl found a letter inside the doll. In the tiny letter signed by Kafka it was written:
"Everything you love will probably be lost, but in the end, love will return in another way."

In August 2019, I held an auction for a doll face up of any kind in order to raise funds for the El Paso Community Foundation. The winner was my dear friend @u4bik, who is not only the most patient soul on this Earth, but also owner of one of my most favorite bjd characters, Skuld. They asked me to paint Skuld's human faceplate to have skull themed face paint but with space in the negative spaces. Two of my favoritest things! Her flesh was dusted with white and pearlescent pastels while everything else is watercolor and mica powders. We contemplated adding iridescent starburst glitters but opted to go with painted stars instead. In order to slightly make up for my tardiness, I made a pair of resin eyes. One pair with white scleras (top) and the other with black (bottom), but both filled with all the glitter and shinnies! I am so happy to know this face plate is back home safe and sound and it was such an honor to paint for them ❤️
Here's a video that shows the paint differently:

SELLING: Doll Zone Noel + Doll Family-H Jointed Hands + Accessories
Hey all, so after years of not doing anything with this boy I've decided to sell him and some of the things I got for him off. I'm hoping he can go to someone who will actually do something with him!
Again, I repeat, other than putting in his eyes and changing his hands, and trying his pants on, I have done absolutely NOTHING with this doll. He is very nearly direct-from-seller.
What I'm Selling:
- 1 Doll Zone Noel (1/4 MSD) in WHITE skin with original hands
- 1 pair of DF-H Jointed 1/4 MSD hands in WHITE skin (they are a decent enough match to the Doll Zone white, just a bit noticeable)
- 3 Pairs of Eyes, the ones with the pegs came with Noel, the other two pairs were bought off of Etsy
- 1 pair of galaxy shorts and 1 pair of Walking Dead Zombie pants, both made to fit him
- 1 pair of Big Black Boots that fit him well - they are off of Alice's Collections
I have the original certificate, booklet, envelope, box, pillow and face protector that came with Noel.
EBAY LISTING IS ACCEPTING OFFERS!
Please take a look and share with anyone you think might be interested!

Another intruding personal project!
I depression-bought a few ponies and have been working on them bit by bit.
It seems I only buy bait ponies instead of saving up for ones that already look good, but I think collecting is more about the fixing up than the having for me despite the fact that I get attached and then can’t let them go when I’m done with them.
Sunny Bunch is the first to be done, and I’ve renamed her Wisteria Wishes though the only thing that’s changed is her hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sunny was dirty, had a bad hair cut, and was missing paint on key areas.
Honestly I adored that color of green in her hair but don’t have any green hair on hand at all so she got a blend of purple, blue, yellow, and white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s precurled hair and I decided to leave it. I was going to separate the colors and sausage curl them individually but the tail turned out like that and I like it even if it does completely hide two of the 4 colors.
Wisteria Wishes was a 2-day project. One for a good bath, dehair, and time to dry, and one for rehair and paint touch ups.
It’s funny, though, because I was styling her hair and realized I’d forgotten her blush, and then immediately forgot again and took her after photos.
And it looks like I’m still not getting consistent lighting. I’d have to go in a dark room with just this source of light for that, I guess.
