i’ll be honest, i didn’t expect this to happen quite as quick as it did because i always saw mason as someone who’d stay at chelsea for a longer time and eventually become captain, but constant uncertainty about chelsea and his future, a series of changes within the club and i’m sure a whole lot of mistrust after failed contract talks call for decisions made by the player to ensure the best outcome for his career and his future so i’m happy mason decided to make that decision for himself when it was the right time for him. it’ll take me a long while to get used to this and it’s obviously hard to see my favourite player leave his boyhood club and the club that i’ve grown to love over the past five years but for now all i can say is… thank you for everything mason 💙 you’ve been such a big and important part of chelsea ever since you first joined at the age of 6, not only helping us win countless trophies and winning two back to back player of the season awards yourself but being someone, coming through the academy, who showed what it’s like to be chelsea, to be dedicated and passionate about what you do and to truly play for the badge time and time again which is why you were, and still are, admired and loved by so many true chelsea fans at the bridge and all over the world. the memories that you made with chelsea, the friendships you built throughout your time here and the lessons you’ve learned not only about football but life itself in those 18 years at the club… those are some you’ll have, remember and look back on for the rest of your life and i hope you know we’ll all miss you so very much. i have no doubt in my mind that you’ve always been a true chels and even now… or years down the line, you’ll always be a chelsea boy at heart 💙 so from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. i love you. i wish you all the best, always, wherever you play.
