CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. This post was sparked by a Woman's Empowerment Challenge by @chrismissy2244 Little did my friend know the importance of her timing. Sometimes it's that random act of kindness that gives another the strength to move mountains. . . This year has brought the world numerous challenges. We will never be the same after what we have endured. . My 2020 recap: Unemployment and gigs canceled until further notice. The Black Lives Movement was brought to my door step. I was hatefully cyber bullied by a former burlesque collaborator for my white privilege and cultural appropriation. Others of my circle echoed while sighting my spread toxicity to my community. When posting on social media about this, I received 300 comments filled with anti-racist propaganda. This is more comments than any post my artistry ever inspired. The gaslighting worked; I felt as though there was no reason to continue as an artist and community leader. Being from Louisville, KY I have watched my city burn as the riots vandalized areas by my former apartment, high school, and college. Most recently, I had to leave my newest business due to unethical behavior from my partner. Sigh... I had lost myself due to this influx of turmoil. Maybe you don't know that I am onstage to represent that anyone can rise up from poverty. I aim to inspire others to live their dreams. I seek to help others find their hidden talents, beauty and shine. After these occurrences, I was stripped of my value, vitality and history. Ty to those who privately messaged me in my darkest hour. Ty to my Louisville friends and family reminding of the real me and not this racist I was being deemed to be. I ended several relationships due to lack of support from my former burlesque family and false judgements from my acquaintances. Now for the happy ending... I have had time to re-evaluate my goals and outreach. I am stronger and smarter than ever. My garden is clear if weeds. My seeds are being planted. The aloha sun is shining and sprouts are on the horizon. I am not the same woman; I have leveled up!!! I invite you to follow me on this new journey.
