Where it all begins
In Malaysia there is a lot of wood from old houses stashed away in ‘junkyards’ like this. The wood species are all mixed up, so its a bit of a lucky packet, as in you don’t know what you are getting until you cut it. Which can be frustrating but also exciting. All nails are included unfortunately, so before milling these need to be removed. I use a handheld metal detector to sniff out the rusty nails, removing them can be a tricky process and the nails always leave there mark on the wood with a dark coloration caused by the oxidized nail.

Made for the Lanai at the Dusun, Negri Sembilan, with reclaimed Meranti, Rubberwood, Resak, Balau, the legs are cut from one peice 5x5″ post. The Top is made from old 2x3″ timber
