Windows Media Player Skin

I love windows media player skins, they're obsolete now but I still download them for my windows XP computer all the time. However, some have horrible designs *feature wise*. Unlike WINAMPS, windows media players allow visual video to be played, whether it's just audio or not. I much prefer the video feature to be displayed even if I'm just listening to music, otherwise I just have the amp sitting in a box in the background not doing much. Though visually appealing, most of them don't provide any visual effects to be displayed. However, media player skins have their downsides too as I stated earlier. The picture is of one of the media player skins I downloaded a few years ago called "Cyber Channel Skin" (available on the windows media player archive here) has not the best design choices. I noticed when I wanted to change the skin there was no button already implemented in this skin in order to do it, and I couldn't even find a button to make it Fullscreen. Also, it's very simple, as there is no bass, tempo, pitch, etc., switches in order to customize your audio listening.

All in all, there's going to be media player skins to not have the most perfect design choices, but I still prefer them over winamps.

First picture shows the weird live web cameras that were broadcasted online for the public to see. Some are definitely fetish related. Second picture hosts different chatrooms on the left page, though they are mainly aimed at "beginners," there are some that give you the feature to add* a chatroom to your site. Page on the Right shows off some guys with too much free time like me. 3rd Picture is a two-page spread of various dating sites, some more specific that others, and some definitely a red flag. Last picture is of the back of the magazine, an ad for NetWar .com, now an internet game hosting site.

Here is a small section of "Site Trips" and their reviews, featuring news broadcasts, new TV shows airing, macabre gothic themed sites, music reviews, game communities and anything between. The "Spice Girls Hate Page" is one of my favorites just because of the effort put into it. "The Horror Headquarters" Is another favorite because it's like the library of Alexandria of Horror monsters and their respective franchise. Not to mention the beautiful pixel artwork when you first open their page.

This issue's covers feedback from fans from a previous issue, best chatrooms on the web, public live web cameras, Various sites that are centered around sports, music reviews, educational sites, horror flash games, gothic message boards, and unusual, weird one-of-a-kind sites.

Personally, I'm a fan of this issue in particular because of the early alternative scene featured in this, covering various different websites and not just chatrooms or personal blogs. Showing us interactive flash sites with horror themes or flash games that are pretty much a time capsule to the rising alternative scene in '97.
