KINGS OF DISCO “VILLAGE PEOPLE” CELEBRATE FIRST NEW SINGLE
IN OVER 25 YEARS IN WORLDWIDE RELEASE AND A NEW “COWBOY” TOO!
New single: “Lets Go Back to the Dance Floor” written by KC (of the Sunshine Band) & Chris Cadenhead.
Available on Tuesday August 6, 2013 on i-Tunes, Amazon and more, the one and only “Village People” will introduce their new single in their live concerts in the US and around the world. Now in their 36th year of touring, Ray Simpson (Cop), Felipe Rose (Native American), Alexander Briley (G.I.), David Hodo (Construction Worker), Eric Anzalone (Biker) and Jeff Olson (Cowboy), the group known for the dance hits “YMCA”, “Macho Man”, “Go West”, “In the Navy” and so many memorable disco-era songs, collaborate with songwriter/hitmaker Harry W. Casey (“KC”) and Chris Cadenhead on a new dance party anthem!
Last year, KC/Harry W. Casey, who was co-starring with “Village People” at a “Special Needs” fundraiser in Maryland, was singing a catchy chorus that was rolling around in his head. There was no doubt that it would sound great with the group’s well-known macho male vocals. KC said, “If you like it, I’ll write it for you.” In April 2013, while performing in Florida, the group took a side trip to Miami to record the song. By June, almost two dozen Super-Remixers had offered their own versions of the recording to KC and test-marketed the best mixes in dance clubs worldwide. And what a great response!
This July, the famous group of six singers/dancers enlisted Alayna Simpson (daughter of lead singer Ray Simpson and niece of singer/songwriter Valerie Simpson) to choreograph the high-energy number on stage. To date, “Village People” have sold over 100 million CDs, earned a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (near Betty Grable and Liberace), and play approximately 50-60 concerts worldwide annually. The critics still rave about their concerts as “a great party”!
At the same time, the group announces a cast change, adding Broadway heart-throb from Alabama Jim Newman to the group as the Cowboy. Jim is quoted as saying, “This opportunity could not have come at a better time in my life! I am thrilled to be a part of history in the making.”
The group still boasts mostly original and long-time members. Felipe Rose, Alexander Briley and David Hodo began in 1977 when the group was created by French music producers/songwriters Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo. Ray Simpson joined the group as lead singer/Cop in 1979 in time to co-star in their movie “Can’t Stop the Music”. Eric Anzalone has been with the group for 17 years replacing original Biker Glenn Hughes who passed away from lung cancer. Jeff Olson, who had the longest run as the group’s Cowboy (since 1980) has recently given up his boots and spurs.
Fans can learn more about the history, concert dates, current news, and social networking on the group’s website: www.officialvillagepeople.com.

Village People mourn the death of their friend Dick Clark. We loved him and he loved the group. It was on his amazing show American Bandstand that the dance to YMCA was created, and he invited the group to perform on so many of his special programs as well. In his office he had 3 photos: The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Village People! Dick Clark did more for the development of American music than almost anyone and he did it with love and respect. We honor him and miss him so much. Please join us here with your memories of a great man.
