The Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT) was established under MUIT Uttar Pradesh Act No. 31 of 2001 Notification no 573 dated 06 October, 2001. The University Main Campus is at Sitapur Road, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The University is reputed to disseminate quality education. His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji was the First Chancellor of the University. MUIT has been recognized and included in the list of Universities, maintained by the UGC under section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The University offers Diploma in Engineering, B. Tech., M. Tech., BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, B. Com., M. Com., B. Sc., M. Sc., D. Pharm, B. Pharm, B A (Hons.), BA , M. A. & Ph. D. Courses. The selected programs are offered to the students at Lucknow Campus. To further assist the students audio-visual rooms are being setup in both the campuses so that students can listen to educational programs broadcasted through Satellite and Internet and also exploit multi-media for learning. The University has been established in the lap of nature in sprawling with well-designed internal roads, spacious lawns and Botanical Garden with a treasure of medicinal plants, far from pollution of industry yet well connected by air, rail and road.

Maharishi University of Information Technology celebrated the 77th Independence Day on 15th August 2023 at its Lucknow Campus wherein Maj Gen Harsha Kakar (Retd) graced the occasion as the esteemed Chief Guest. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Registrar (Prof. Akhand Pratap Singh), Dy Registrar, CEO, Dean Academics, and Dy Dean Academics. The auspicious occasion was marked by Flag hoisting, release of dove, launch of special Independence Day edition of Campus Voice by the esteemed Chief Guest and dignitaries, and patriotic programs by the students. The Maharishi University of Information Technology organized the "Global Leaders Awards and Educators Conference 2023" on July 30, 2023, Sunday at the Hotel Crown Plaza in Greater Noida. On this occasion, educators from all over the country expressed their thoughts on the "National Education Policy 2020". The program also included discussions on various subjects with educators who have made invaluable contributions to the field of education and understand the educational needs of students.
During the event, Shri Shrichand Sharma, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Legislative Council, attended as the Chief Guest. Shri Shrichand Sharma also shared his views on India's contribution to global education and how many countries have adopted our ancient practices for their own development, regardless of the field. Also, our Guest of Honour Mr. Piyush Prasad, who is a Regional Director of the National Institute of Open Schooling, attended the event and shared all the informative things with us and guided us with the best.
