The weirdest guy I ever met in a church was this boy who referred to “Buzz Aldrin and his husband” going to the moon. I was completely baffled, and when I asked if he’d misspoken, he got really angry and accused me of being deliberately ignorant of the facts. It turned out that he was somehow comvinced that Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were married. It took five Wikipedia articles to convince him otherwise.

Now there’s one and only one rule in this class. I will tolerate no reenacting, whether it’s ironic or sincere, of the Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore pottery scene in Ghost. Ever since that movie was released in 1990, I have seen every conceivable variation of what I call “Ghosting.”  This could be guy-on-girl, girl-on-guy, the hilarious guy-on-guy…So since it never stopped, I had to adopt a zero ghost tolerance policy. If you so much as hum three notes from that Righteous Brothers song, with God as my witness I will come at you. With everything I’ve got. OK? Let’s have a great time!

This morning I read a book of poems. And you came to my mind. 

I’m a rock. Go ahead and sear me. I won’t budge an inch because I’m a rock. Go ahead and beat me up. I’m a solid rock. Go ahead and leave me in darkness. I’m a rock that will shine all alone. I don’t break, ash, nor decay as I go against nature’s way. I survive. I’m diamond.
