This is phenomenal work!! I love this savefile đŸ„°
Career World Horse Ranch update is now live!
It’s finally here! Sorry this update is so late; a minor but time-consuming home repair emergency stopped my work on it for about a month. But now my real-life house is fixed and the update is finally out! The Career World save file, Career Challenge Chart, and the list of study abroad opportunities have all been updated to incorporate horses and all their associated gameplay. And the delay meant I got to add in the new Home Chef Hustle features, as well, so it’s not all bad.
Just because I already teased it, I’ll start with...
Expansion of the Actor Career:
In addition to all the sound-stage filming that comes automatically with the actor career, and the live stage acting I had already added in the form of the Starlight Theatre venue, there are now three on-location filming spots: one for Westerns, one for costume dramas, and one for fantasy/medieval/pirate projects. Each on-location filming site is a residential lot which permanently houses several horses and three behind-the-camera crew members: a horse wrangler/stunt rider, a stylist, and a cinematographer. When cast in certain gigs, your actor should now immediately (but temporarily) move in with one of these households, in the following configuration:
If you are cast in...
Making Moosic
Last Town in the West
The Sheriff from Alpha Centauri
...move your actor sim in with the PBP Western Crew in Chestnut Ridge.
If you are cast in

Dignity & Decorum
Of Tea & Treachery
...move in with the PBP Costume Drama Crew in Henford-on-Bagley.
And if you are cast in

Salty Suds
Dead Sea Adventures
Tournament of Honor
Treasures of Aarbyville
...move in with the PBP Fantasy Crew in Windenburg. All other gigs you should just do as normal; they have no corresponding on-location filming site.
Once on location, you will find an area set up to house you, marked with a star door (on the Western set, this is a trailer; on the other two, a room within the massive building), as well as living areas for the other crew members, a dressing room / wardrobe area, a video editing space with the video station and lots of drones (plus still cameras for doing promo shots), and locations for filming acting scenes. In the case of Chestnut Ridge, the acting area is on a separate lot located right next door to the living area with the trailers.
Your job while you are here is to get footage, in costume, of your sim (and potentially their co-stars or the horse wrangler acting as a stunt double) acting out scenes on location and riding on horseback through the appropriate landscapes. (Mostly. The pirate stuff may not need to be too heavy on the horseback scenes, but there are plenty of places to shoot acting scenes on the battlements of the castle overlooking the sea, which is why I rolled those gigs in with the fantasy stuff. Plus even pirates get embroiled in problems on land sometimes, and have to make a quick escape on horseback. Everything you do on an actual ship is shot during sound-stage day.) I strongly suggest also taking some still photos as promotional material and keepsakes for both the crew household and your sim.
If your actor sim has no horseback riding skill to start with and looks ridiculous on the horse, you may have to spend some time riding around and skilling up in your regular street clothes before you get all dolled up and dive into filming—unless, of course, you want to get footage of your sim getting bucked off the horse for the movie, in which case get into costume immediately and fire up the drone right away; the cinematographer will edit out all the extra footage of you looking stupid while you wait to get bucked off.
At some point during your on-location filming adventure, you will be called back to Del Sol Valley for the set sound-stage filming day. Don’t worry about this; Plumbob Pictures is a wealthy studio, and can totally afford to send a chopper to whisk you back to Del Sol Valley for a day of filming on set before dropping you right back on location. Take your time and don’t rush it; you are welcome to remain on location as long as it takes to get all the footage you want to get. A word to the wise, however: you will only be able to call your director and co-stars to the on-location filming site BEFORE sound-stage filming day, so if you want to record any two-person scenes, sword fights, or all-cast promo shots with your co-stars, you’ll need to prioritize doing that first and getting your horseback riding shots later. Lucky for you if you’re filming Tournament of Honor, jousting scenes are done in full armor that completely conceals the sim, so horse wrangler Cheyenne Blackwolf is able to act as the stunt double for your co-stars for footage where you need two sims on horseback. Jim Chooli, the horse wrangler in Chestnut Ridge, is a semi-retired actor himself who frequently plays minor characters in the Westerns when a second sim is needed there. And the entire costume drama crew is happy to pop into powdered wigs and ballgowns when extra sims are needed to flesh out a ball or dinner scene.
Because you live with them in the same household during this time, you will be able to control not only the horse wrangler as a second horse-rider when need be, but also the stylist to costume both your own actor sims and your non-controllable co-stars during on-location filming. Likewise, you can direct the cinematographer to control the drones, take photographs, and even operate the non-functional camera equipment for maximum realism. The end goal of on-location filming is to have the cinematographer take all the drone footage you’ve captured, edit it together into a single reel, maximize the quality, and “send it off to the studio”—a.k.a. upload it via the video station. If you get the notification that the footage has been nominated for an award, you may want to remain with the crew household through the following Sunday and all go to the Starlight Accolades together—you could even get some red-carpet shots! If not, that’s a wrap! You’re welcome to move back to your regular residence in Del Sol Valley while you prepare for the next audition.
Chestnut Ridge Townies:
You’ll notice that with this pack, I’ve been a lot more liberal with adding townies who didn’t originally exist than I usually am. There are two reasons for this: 1) there are so many ways to make money in this pack that I didn’t think I could reasonably cover all the new career options it enabled me to add with only the original townies, and 2) Chestnut Ridge does not spawn its own locals like Sulani and Mt. Komorebi do, so if you don’t add more townies, there aren’t really enough western-dressed, horse-riding folks to flesh out the community lots—and I’m sorry, but Bella Goth just looks really stupid doing the cowpoke dance in that tight dress. So for the new townies, I used some gallery sims (credited in the Chestnut Ridge credits post, coming next), but I also used a lot of the “play with genetics” feature to expand the families of sims who shipped with the pack. Everybody gets a brother! Ok, well, not everybody, but a lot of people got brothers. So here’s what I did with townies:
In early testing, I learned to my disappointment that Sienna Grove works like the special townies from Cottage Living, not like the ones from High School Years—which is to say that the instant you start to play her, she is immediately and permanently replaced as horse trainer with a randomly generated townie. I wanted to retain her as horse trainer in this save file, so (like with Sarah Scott before her), I immediately kicked her out to the homeless bin so people wouldn’t try to play her and lose her the job. That said, for some reason this makes her un-inviteable to places just like Roberto Crinkletop, the mysterious rancher. To counteract this somewhat, I’ve had every household in town make her a keyholder, so she’ll occasionally drop by of her own accord. And of course, you can always come to her for a visit: she is outside the equestrian center from 7am to 7pm every single day, so she’s not hard to find. And pro tip: you can always invite her for a stayover, but for some reason only from the relationships panel, not the phone. The programming on this is weird, man.
Don and Duke Gooseman are now actual champions, as per their backstory. This means that Duke has the special “Champion Horse” trait that gives his foals better qualities, so if you’re going to get into horse breeding as a moneymaking enterprise, I suggest just getting a mare and having her breed with Duke. House rule, though: your sim has to gift Don a thousand simoleons for the privilege. There is now an actual stud service in town! And Don’s been doing a little studing of his own—I’ve made him aromantic since he’s such a loner, but as a sim who loves the outdoors, he constantly gets wants to woohoo in the bushes: so he is now woohoo partners with Roberto Crinkletop, with whom he has the occasional Brokeback-Mountain-style al fresco tryst. Plus I gave him a cat. Don just seems like a cat guy to me.
The Nectar Making Duo have opened a duo of businesses: a country nectary where they live, grow ingredients, and craft and age their nectars, and a small shop in town where they sell them. They’re in a fair amount of debt (used the university student loan system for this), so you can have fun digging them out and making the businesses profitable! They have three main ways to make money: holding ranch gatherings at the nectary (which are basically tasting events to bring in new clientele), using the sales table at the nectary to sell bottles direct-from-the-source, and manning the retail store in town. Some quirks to know about these things:
1) You can’t do a sale on the sales table at the same time you’re throwing a ranch gathering. I was hoping you could, but starting a sale immediately ends the gathering. Sucks, but that’s the way it is.
2) The front door of the nectary is the open-barn-doors arch to allow street sale customers into the nectary so they can buy from the sales table. If you swap these out for real, closed doors, the customers will just hang out nervously at the edge of the lot and then disappear, never buying anything. So if you want to use the sales table, you have to leave the arch. That said, an arch can’t be set as the front door for the purposes of other households coming to visit, so I have put a small, unusable wooden door off to the side of the barn doors and set that as the front door. If you’re visiting the nectary as another household, just knock on this door to make the building appear solid.
3) The nectars available for purchase at the retail store include a mix of qualities and levels of aging. There’s nothing there that is poor quality, and nothing that isn’t aged at all, but the bottles range from lightly aged to finely aged and some are normal rather than excellent. This is so that you can come to the store as a buyer while playing another household and have the option to either splurge on a high-quality bottle or not break the bank and go for something more modestly priced, according to your funds and storyline. Plus bonus: The Nectar Making Duo sub-contract with a few outside suppliers for specialty nectars they can’t brew themselves, so you can find occult nectars here, as well.
And on that note . . . to get Marissa Tracey in with the occult sims who brew the specialty nectars, and also because I think she looks a great deal like him, I have made Marissa—and her new twin brother, Chip—the products of a youthful indiscretion between Wolfgang Wilder and a human sim from Chestnut Ridge. They were both born as “dormant wolves” rather than full-blown werewolves and raised by their mother under her last name, but they know Wolfgang and are friends of the Moonwood Collective. Stocking the Collective’s moonpetal nectar got Marissa’s name circulating in the supernatural community, and now she contracts with the Straud Estate and the famed Madam Zoe herself, as well.
Aside from getting a dog, The Grove family have only gotten minor edits to careers and clothing; I put Umber in the musician career as per his backstory, stuck Juniper in the athlete career (under the new sub-category of show rider!) and let her hair down. It bothers me when the sims team gives two pre-made townies in the same world the exact same hairstyle in the exact same color, as it makes them too easy to confuse. So just like with Cottage Living, where I changed Rashida Watson’s hair to the blue-dyejob teen hair from Parenthood so she wouldn’t be confused with Cecelia Kang from behind, Juniper has now left the side braid to Sienna and adopted a more flowing-hair look that will accent those horse jumps. Oh, and Umber also started a band; he’s the leader of club of local musicians who play down at the saloon most nights—though if you feel like doing an afternoon gig on occasion, I also suggest meeting at the Hay Now! Festival Grounds sometimes.
Look, with the things in this pack, I just couldn’t resist making “Chip and Dale, Rescue Ranchers,” so I did. Chip Tracey (new brother of Marissa Tracey) and his husband, Dale Chooli (new brother of Juniper Grove) run a rescue ranch / petting zoo where children from all worlds can come to learn about animals of all types. The money they get from throwing “ranch animal day” events for kids is pretty modest to support two rescue horses, a cow, a llama, a bunch of mini goats and mini sheep, several chickens, a ton of stray dogs and cats, and some semi-wild rabbits, foxes, and birds, but it sure is cute! And they can always teach kids to ride and bring mini sheep to kids’ birthday parties on the side.
Juniper and Dale’s father, Jim Chooli, has also joined the save file as the horse wrangler for Plumbob Pictures’ on-site Western filming location. He lives in one of the many trailers on location in Galloping Gulch, alongside Barb Henderson (stylist, saloon singer, and local icon) and Giovanni Carrettino, a young cinematographer from Tartosa looking to make his own “penne Westerns.” Jim cares for and trains the studio’s three horses, Molasses, Gun, and Beauty, who play the roles of native American war horse, cowboy horse, and wild stallion, respectively.
Sienna Grove’s former lot is now home to an elderly horse trader named Tallulah Heiheiwuti, who has a bunch of family in Evergreen Harbor. One of them, her eldest granddaughter, has come to stay with her and learn the family business. The problem? She’s afraid of horses! I figured someone had to be, and that storyline just made sense. It also means there is a new family in Evergreen Harbor, which was pretty underpopulated before—Talullah’s son and his wife and kids are now fleshing out the community there and justifying the existence of the Coast Salish art swatch on the Horse Ranch wall hanging, while also giving you the new opportunity to play the botanist branch of the gardener career or the life of a pop-up cupcake baker.
Other things that have changed:
This save file has never featured Faiz Jaleel, the flower-seller from the My Wedding Stories pack, because neighborhood stories killed him off before I had quite figured out that feature and how to manage it. But now, thanks to Roberto Crinkletop’s secret family recipe, he has been resurrected and is in the save file as a living sim! I could not, unfortunately, figure out a way to reinstate him as the flower cart NPC, but he still has all the grapevine gossip interactions about owning it, so just pretend he’s hired extra help to man it sometimes when he’s busy. He has moved into his old childhood home in the big square in Tartosa with the other Piazza Dwellers, where he is trying to get a second business venture, a food stand, off the ground. He’s torn between the classic Tartosan cuisine of pizza and leaning further into the romantic atmosphere with heart-shaped waffles. Can you help him decide and make his new business a success?
Speaking of returning from the netherworld, the save file also never featured Felix Psyded, ghostly founder of the University of Britechester, because the game culled him before I discovered coolspear’s “Delay Ghost Culling Indefinitely” mod. Now that I have it, I have re-downloaded the original Felix from the gallery and made him the resident ghost of Lord Drake Men’s Dorm on the UBrite campus. How did I do this, you say? I’ve enrolled him in the History degree at UBrite in order to make him a proper resident of the dorm. You can keep him there practically indefinitely by having him enroll in only one class at a time while you play with other focus sims in this dorm—and if he runs out of classes and completes the degree, just start in on another degree. By my count, this should enable him to keep haunting this dorm for 156 in-game weeks—and that’s only if he never fails a single class! If you alternate having him fail and succeed so he does it slower but never gets kicked out, that’s 312 weeks, or basically eternity in sim years. He’s here forever! Also, in setting this up, I realized I had not included any woohoo locations in the UBrite dorms, which is completely unacceptable. Who’s ever heard of a dorm without a hookup spot?! I have now added closets to both the men’s and women’s dorms in order to fix this grave oversight. My deepest apologies.
I had previously not moved Wolfgang Wilder in with the other Moonwood Collective sims because I wanted him to remain the NPC librarian in Moonwood Mill, but in the process of making him related to his new children (Marissa and Chip Tracey), I discovered that somewhere along the way the game had already booted him out of that role for some reason. Just like with Faiz, I couldn’t figure out how to reinstate him, so now he has retired from librarianship, moved in with the rest of the Collective, and embraced his writing full-time—which means he still spends a lot of time at the library, since the Collective Cabin is off-the-grid and doesn’t have a computer.
On the subject of townies with NPC jobs, there’s news on the Scotts, the not-quite-playable family I booted to the homeless bin to prevent Sara Scott being supplanted as pub owner in Finchwick. You still can’t play her without losing her job, but her husband Simon is totally fair game, because he isn’t any kind of special villager NPC. So, with the introduction of a large estate needing filming crew for the long-running TV series “Dignity & Decorum,” I decided to rescue him from the homeless bin and make him the cinematographer on the Plumbob Pictures costume drama crew. This has actually allowed me to make the Scotts semi-playable, because even though Sara is still in the homeless bin, I was able to get Simon to ask her to be his NPC roommate, and that completely works! As long as she’s only a roommate and not technically part of the household, she can both be the pub owner and live in the swanky suite of rooms I’ve marked off for her and Simon within the manor house. Admittedly, she’s rarely there because pub hours are serious business, but still! That said, in my experience the game tends to get rid of roommates when you switch households, so you may need to reinstate her as roommate if you want to play with this arrangement down the line. Luckily, that’s very easy; just head down to the pub where she’ll be working and re-invite her under the “roommate
” menu.
Derek McMillan and Ian Moody, the stitchery shop owners in Henford-on-Bagley, are getting on in years and have been finding the crops and the chickens and the llamas and the store a lot to manage, so they’ve made a few strategic decisions to help themselves out. First and foremost, they have refocused on their mission to provide beautiful, high-quality colored wool to their customers by swapping out their chicken coop for a small sheepfold, which they have stocked with a multicolored array of mini sheep dyed every color of the rainbow (except for the colors already covered by their two llamas). They’ve also hired a ranch hand to assist with animal care and the garden, so they can focus their own energy on the shop and their sewing circle club, which is going better than ever now that it’s associated bug has been fixed!
The Watson family has moved off the hilltop to a smaller, flatter, and more organized farm with fewer camera problems down in the valley of Old New Henford. They have added a small flock of sheep to their livestock, and adopted an elderly Irish Draught horse named Dobber. Rashidah has already knitted him a set of leg warmers and a saddleblanket, and animal-lover Imran is learning to ride!
Lucha Harjo has started a side hustle selling popcorn down on the pier in Copperdale. It’s more a hobby than a career move right now, but oh, that satisfying crunch when those teens enjoy their popcorn to the tinny sounds of the ferris wheel music! Truly heartwarming.
Bob Pancakes randomly came home the other day with a tattoo of kitchen utensils on his forearm. Eliza thinks she smells a midlife crisis coming on . . .
Celebrity chef Clara Bjergsen decided that she wanted a whole new expanded kitchen, so she bought one. It’s not like she doesn’t have the money. Her current flavor obsession: reconnecting with her childhood and making heritage memories for her daughters through haute cuisine experimentation with traditional Nordic waffles.
On the opposite end of that career trajectory, aspiring chef Hugo Villareal has been hard at work spending his father’s ill-gotten gains on lots of new equipment to revive the old nectary the family moved into. With his new nectar press, oak barrels, bottle storage racks, pizza oven, stand mixer, and a block of parmigiana and a grater always at the ready, Hugo is all prepped to begin his journey into vineyard-to-table nectars perfectly paired with lovingly crafted Italian dishes. And he’s really leaning into it, too—he also bought himself a whole set of food-themed shirts, so he’s always repping his future career goals. If he could only graduate high school early and get started...
Refugio dei Pirati Resort in Tartosa discovered a long-forgotten Roman bath structure beneath its foundations and, deciding this was too good a find to ignore, tore down their entire building to excavate, restore, and construct an entrance to the thing. They subsequently rebuilt completely from the ground up, and now boast a whole new building with brand-new amenities like a private reception hall alongside refurbished old favorites like the couples’ spa. To celebrate their grand re-opening, they rebranded as the Amorosa Resort. If you’ve never vacationed in Tartosa, now might be the time to start—especially with all the new pizza ovens and functional nectar cellars popping up all over the place!
The shops on the Sulani Promenade have gotten in a whole new shipment of swimsuits thanks to the Poolside Splash Kit. They are now on display and for purchase from a series of colorful new mannequins. Whether you’re looking for tourist-y beach wear or wetsuits and snorkel gear, they’ve got you covered!
That's not the only new stock in this update: The Gnome’s Arms in Finchwick has stocked its behind-the-bar shelves with nectar. It’s not top-of-the-line stuff like you’ll find in Chestnut Ridge, but it does the trick!
SimCity Pizza, the oldest restaurant on The Waterfront in San Myshuno’s Spice Market, has finally, grudgingly, updated their equipment to include a modern pizza oven alongside their so-old-the-food-inspector-banned-them-from-using-it wood fired one. They’re having a “create your own flavor” special right now, where customers can make their own pizzas using off-menu flavors and ingredients. It’s really revitalized the place!
Llamante Llama Ranch in Selvadorada wants all animals to feel welcome, including those who are traveling with their humans. They have converted some previously unused space in the front into a small horse paddock, and added some items for cats and dogs, as well. If you’re looking to go horseback riding around Selvadorada (gorgeous, by the way!), this is the place to rent for your vacation. There are also a ton of juice barrels lined up behind the bar in town—you’re welcome to use a couple of them for horse training, if you want.
San Sequoia has a few more items in the open portions of worlds, including a newly functional lemonade stand alongside the makeshift one down on the docks! It’s a great place to sell ice cream, lemonade, or scout cookies (though you’ll need to make those yourself at home beforehand).
There are no new residents in Brindleton Bay. Nope, not a one. Not a single living soul. But the price has gone down on the old lightkeeper’s house on Deadgrass Isle. For some reason, you can now move in there completely for free

* * *
Thanks for your patience, and for your votes on the expansion of the actor career! Head to the original Career World save file post to download the update and enjoy!

This looks so much fun and there’s no a single generation that I don’t like đŸ€Ł!
Tumblr media
✿ The Home Sweet Home Legacy Challenge ✿
Info ✿
Use the tag #HSHLegacy so I can see your posts!!
If there are any rules that you don’t vibe with, just skip over them!
Some of the rules are centered around gameplay and some are more story-based!
You don’t have to complete aspirations or max out careers if you don’t want to, unless it’s otherwise specified in the generation’s rules!
Play with any lifespan you prefer.
Read one generation ahead to get all of the information you need!
Mods are allowed and encouraged; especially ones that make the game more realistic. I’ve linked a couple mods in some generations that can add to the gameplay!
If you have the more traits in cas mod, pick whatever extra traits you think would fit your sim!
Rules for the generations under the cut ✿
GENERATION ONE ✿
You were raised in the city by strict parents who pushed you to be the best student in school. Despite your ambitious nature you hated the fact that you had no autonomy or free time. When you became a young adult you packed up your belongings, your pet and your limited funds and you moved to the countryside. Your cottage is rundown and outdated
it’s going to take a lot of work (and money) to make it a home. You quickly realize you might not actually be cut out for this life, but you are too stubborn and proud to give up and move back in with your parents.
Traits: Squeamish, Ambitious, High Maintenance
Aspiration: Country Caretaker OR Freelance Botanist
Career: Start with a part time job and/or odd jobs until your sim ages up into an adult, then settle into a full time job of your choice. To make additional money, you can also sell harvestables from your garden or your farm animals (if you want to go down that route!)
Starting Out: Start in Henford-on-Bagley with your pet in a small, rundown cottage with 2-3 bedrooms. You can use money cheats at this point, but remember: small rundown cottage
don’t use those extra funds for nice appliances!! When your house is done, set your funds to 450.
Rules:
Your lot must have the ‘simple living’ lot trait
Reach level 5 in: Handiness, Cooking and Gardening
Befriend a few locals
Meet and fall in love with an outdoorsy sim with a large tight knit family
Spend every holiday with your partner’s family, and have a solid relationship with most (if not all) of them
Have 2 kids
Take a vacation for every sim’s birthday (if you can’t afford it, throw a birthday party on a public lot instead)
Renovate the cottage over time (get new appliances, wallpaper/flooring, etc.)
Optional Rules:
Play with the ‘off the grid’ lot trait
Max out Handiness, Cooking and/or Gardening
Make the sim’s parents and make them have a negative relationship
GENERATION TWO ✿
You grew up in a small, quiet town. After hearing about your parent’s childhood in the city, you were inspired to give it a try. You say goodbye to your loving family and set out for San Myshuno. You find an apartment and a part time job, then you get a few roommates to help with the bills. When you are faced with an accidental pregnancy, your roommates rally in support.
Traits: Loyal, Creative, Slob
Aspiration: City Native OR Painter Extraordinaire
Career: Max out the Retail part time job before quitting and selling paintings full time
Starting Out: Move into an apartment in San Myshuno with 2-3 roommates (you can use the roommate feature but I recommend actually having them in the household!)
Rules:
Max the painting skill
Have Game Night, or something similar, once a week with your roomies
Have an accidental pregnancy after a one night stand (if your sim can’t become pregnant and the other sim can, move the baby into your household when they’re born!)
Raise your kid as a single parent (with the help of your roomies)
Once your child becomes a teen, move out into your own place (it could be in San Myshuno or another world)
Marry as an elder
Optional Rules:
As an elder, marry the sim you had a one night stand with (that ultimately resulted in the birth of your child)
Become famous (because of your paintings)
GENERATION THREE ✿
Just as the expression goes, it took a village to raise you. You were a wild, rebellious child with a love for athletics. Even though you were surrounded by love as a kid (not just from your biological family, but from your parent’s roommates) you always wanted to have siblings. You end up marrying one of your childhood best friends and you settle down in a quiet neighborhood.
Traits: Family Oriented, Hot Headed, Athletic
Aspiration: Big Happy Family
Career: Athletic
Starting Out: Move into a house in a world of your choice with your partner.
Rules:
Max the parenting skill and the athletic skill
Have 4 children
Reach the summit of Mt. Komorebi at some point in your life
Be a hands-on parent: play with your kids, build them a treehouse, throw birthday parties, be as involved as possible in their lives
Go through rough patches with your spouse due to your anger issues
Eventually decide to get a divorce after trying to make it work (or if you have RPO, you can opt for separation instead)
You and your ex-spouse must live on the same lot and continue to raise your kids together
Sleep in your workout shed in the backyard
Optional Rules:
Remarry your ex-spouse
Reach level 5 of the handiness skill
GENERATION FOUR ✿
Although you and your siblings were loved by your parents, the living situation after their divorce was not ideal. Because of that, you vowed to never get married. You head off to university immediately after graduation and start on your path toward success.
Traits: Ambitious, Noncommittal, Genius
Aspiration: Fabulously Wealthy OR Academic
Career: Business OR Politics
Starting Out: Enroll in University and move into a dorm
Rules:
Max the research and debate skill, and the logic skill
Reach the top of your career
Get the best possible grades throughout your life
Have at least two romantic relationships at all times
you are never faithful to one sim
Have two kids with two different partners
(Hesitantly) become official with one of your flings and move in together
When your partner proposes, reject them and have them move out
Go on a post-breakup trip with your kids to Sulani
Rarely discipline your children. In fact, rarely interact with them
Optional Rules:
Never retire
Move at least three times
GENERATION FIVE ✿
Growing up, your parent was pretty distant and you never had a great relationship with them. They were always working, talking about work, or spending time with their significant others. One of your favorite memories of your childhood was your trip to Sulani. You and your sibling decide to move out together and live there permanently. It’s rough living in a new place with limited funds, but the two of you have some creative solutions.
Traits: Loyal, Bro, Kleptomaniac
Aspiration: Party Animal
Career: Criminal
Starting Out: Move into a small house in Sulani with your sibling.
Rules:
Max the charisma skill
Reach the top of your career
Earn money from the criminal career, stealing and pickpocketing
Always maintain a close relationship with your sibling (who can also follow in your criminal footsteps, or work part time / odd jobs instead)
Throw parties regularly and pickpocket the whole time
Have a rivalry with another criminal that turns into love at some point
Your sibling eventually moves out
and your partner moves in!
Have one child
Have a super tacky over the top wedding
Optional Rules:
 Max the mischief skill
(If you have this mod, you can pickpocket when your sim is younger! If you have Basemental you can also become a dealer to make money. If you have this mod, I recommend using the enemies to lovers interactions!)
And that’s all for now! I’m breaking this up into two parts, so the next five generations will be coming sometime (fairly) soon!

Wow! What an amazing job! I loved this save file as it was but this sounds even better!
Growing Together Update is Now Live!
The Growing Together update for my Career World save file is now live! Go to the original post to download it. I have updated all links in previous posts to redirect to the main save file post, so for future updates I only have to change the links in one place.
I'm sure you're interested to hear what's new, but first:
IMPORTANT: This iteration of the save file uses the updated version of Zerbu’s “More Icons” mod found on CurseForge, the new official hosting platform for sims mods. If you have the old version of the mod downloaded from Zerbu’s website, you will need to update to the one from Curseforge in order to avoid some icons appearing as placeholder llamacorns.
Now, on to what’s new:
Firstly, dang! That was a mammoth update! Not much of it will be immediately visible when you load up the save, because the features that came with Growing Together (and consequently, the content of this update) was mostly focused on the sims themselves rather than obvious things like architecture. But so much has changed for the sims! Here’s a rundown of all the stuff I did with every single household and sim in the save file:
Skin Details, Tooth Variety, and Medical Wearables: It didn’t seem fair to me that the only sims who get to look detailed and realistic should be the ones who shipped with Growing Together, so I went back and added freckles, moles, birthmarks, body scars, and stretch marks to all the previously-existing sims in patterns that I thought looked good and made sense (for example, the Ocean Lovers household has a number of body scars and bite marks from encounters with coral, sharks, and other sea life). Plus, I took the opportunity to add some tooth variety into the game. We have so many awesome, unique smiles available (especially with all the new child-specific ones introduced in this pack), that I thought it was a little silly to leave everyone who was made before tooth variety was introduced with the same perfectly-straight, perfectly-uniform teeth. And, with the new introduction of things like medical wearables and gender affirming wear, I have scattered a few of these new features around in ways that I thought made sense.
Deepened Personality: I have given every sim the new preferences about what kinds of sims and interactions they like or dislike, so now the comparability system will genuinely apply to everyone! By default, all the new pack did was randomize one preference per pre-existing sim, but with this update, all townies and existing playables have extensive preferences that will affect their comparability with others. Also, Growing Together’s new dynamic personality system inspired me to utilize several other in-game methods for deepening sims’ personalities that I had previously ignored. Alongside lifestyles, all pre-made sims now also have carefully selected bonus traits from the reward store (so you may hear some great stories or get some great kisses if you interact with the right sims!) and appropriate fears (loner sims tend to be afraid of crowded places, jealous sims are afraid of being cheated on, paranoid sims are afraid of nearly everything, etc.).
Family Dynamics and Family Photos: I have set family dynamics for all sims who are related to one another, including those who live in different households—plus I added a few family ties to the game (more on that below). I was also inspired by the new photo frames to take and display family photos for most households, some of which were helpfully supplied for me by the new Basement Treasures Kit. In many cases, this involved reverse engineering wedding photos for married couples, so enjoy the visual parade of all the different wedding venues available in this save file! The only married couples I did not do this for were those whose storylines had them getting married at much younger ages I didn’t feel like I could fudge—Blossom and Mary Greenberg, for example, are elders with an adult son, so I felt like they would have looked too different in their long-ago wedding photo for me to manage. In other cases, though, a simple one-outfit change in haircut and makeup did wonders to make the sims seem younger—the mohawk-and-mullet punk ironic anti-wedding of the younger Cletus and Faye Harris is a particular standout.
Career Outfits: In between the last update and this one, I was made aware that there is a cheat to modify career outfits! As this is a career-focused save file and I had to modify every single sim for this update anyway, I have fixed the randomly spawned career outfits that are an unfortunate side effect of choosing to go to rabbithole work in some work-from-home careers, and also made some sims’ career outfits more personal and specific. For example: now, instead of every single athlete going to work in a soccer/football uniform even if they are—say—a swimmer, they will be dressed in the appropriate gear for the specific sport they play. Sadly, the modify career outfit feature does not stick in the case of part-time careers for some reason, even though it does in the case of full-time careers. So despite my best efforts to get my elderly daycare workers to have a little dignity, they still go to work in a youth-culture hoodie and a backwards baseball cap. Sigh.
Population Characteristics: I had previously put plenty of thought into making the worlds different by doing world traits/challenges and careful N.A.P. selections, but other than giving everyone in Sulani a tan, I hadn’t really given unifying characteristics to their populations. Growing Together inspired me to do more of that by including “gossip” as one of the conversation topics a sim can like, which I thought paired excellently with Henford-on-Bagley’s reputation as a place with especially gossipy sims. So nearly all the residents of Henford-on-Bagley (including the special NPCs) now like gossip, the only exception being recent transplant Cecelia Kang, who hasn’t really learned the culture yet. Then, it occurred to me that I could do things like that for other populations, as well—some using the new features, and others using features already in the game that I hadn’t previously utilized fully. So without further ado, here are some of the new population characteristics:
Longtime residents of especially hot climates (Oasis Springs, Sulani, and StrangerVille) all have the “Heat Acclimation” rewards store trait. The only people in these areas who don’t are recent immigrants (the numerous recent college grads and retirees who flock to Oasis Springs, for example). Similarly, longtime residents of colder climates (Windenburg/Forgotten Hollow, Henford-on-Bagley, and Mt. Komorebi/Glimmerbrook) all have “Cold Acclimation.” The more serious forms of these traits I have reserved for occults—vampires are iceproof while mermaids are heatproof.
Tans for StrangerVille! Previously, only inhabitants of Sulani had tans. Now the sun has also kissed the desert-dwelling people of the rocks; though in a different way. While islanders pretty much all have tan lines corresponding to their swimwear, StrangerVillians mostly got incidental tans while working outside or in hot weather wear. Residents of StrangerVille also fall into one of two categories: the infected and the not infected. The not infected have developed an understandable fear of plants.
Brindleton Bay locals tend to like Pet Enthusiasts.
Del Sol Valley culture is known to reward Egotistical Sims with fame, so they must, on some level, like them.
Sulani already has a close-knit community feel with a drop-in culture (your neighbors will sometimes bring you extra food, etc.), so I decided to lean into this by making every sim in Ohan’ali Town a keyholder for every other household (except that the Fishy Roommates household don’t participate in this tradition—it’s part of what makes them fishy). So now, if you’re playing one of the pre-made Sulani families, your neighbors will pop by for impromptu game nights and other unplanned get-togethers. Plus, since Sulani is somewhat plagued by pirate ghosts from old shipwrecks, quite a few of the island locals are afraid of ghosts.
Evergreen Harbor/Moonwood Mill loves a Nature Enthusiast. They’ve seen first-hand the consequences of trashing nature, and they suck. Anyone whose life’s project is to restore and enjoy nature will be welcomed with open arms.
Mt. Komorebi culture is unique, beautiful, rich, deep, and—as much as we might hate to admit it—judgy. Just about everyone in the mountain community, unless they have the “Self-Assured” trait or aren’t from the area originally, has a fear of being judged. Standards are high here, and the sims of this population expect themselves to live up to them. Since Mt. Komorebi is also a major sports tourism hub, the locals tend to like High Energy Sims—except for Shigeru Nishidake, who thinks all these damn tourists are ruining the place.
The residents of Henford-on-Bagley love to gossip.
Tartosa is understandably invested in making Romance Enthusiasts feel welcome, and most of the locals agree that love in all its forms (affection, flirtation, and physical intimacy) is a beautiful thing.
Copperdale prides itself on being a welcoming place for teens, and teens are notoriously out-of-control emotionally. The many teachers and staff who live here and serve as house monitors for Copperdale Boarding Academy understand, and are happy to relate closely to Pessimistic Sims and Emotional Decision-Makers.
Whew! That was a lot! The one thing I didn’t do for all sims (even though I wanted to) was adjust milestones. There was a bug in the game for the majority of time I was working on this update which reset milestones every time you switched households—which I obviously had to do a lot in order to do this update. The bug is fixed now, but wasn’t fixed in time for me to make that part of this go-around. Next time a pack adds features that require me to update every single household, I might make milestones a part of that update.
Now, other new stuff that doesn’t apply across the board:
San Sequoia Makeover: Growing Together did not come with any new careers, and the area (being primarily a suburb) screams residential, not industry. So, instead of wracking my brain for what careers could be particular to San Sequoia, I have decided to treat the new world as the suburb right at the doorstep of San Myshuno—or in other words, make it part of San Myshuno for the purposes of my design choices, plus the Career Challenge and its residency rules. However, I did manage to sneak a few active work spaces into my revamp of the world:
If you make it high enough in the Babysitting part-time career and become a Daycare Worker, there is now an active version of The Munchkin Menagerie’s Holding Hands Daycare Center (“The Munchkin Menagerie” for short)! Doing an active workday there is slightly tricky, but can be done. Since infants and toddlers can’t be added to clubs, the associated club is for the daycare workers only, and mostly exists so that you can lock and unlock doors to keep your charges in specific areas at different times throughout the day. There is also no “take care of kids” club activity, so while the other members of the club will cook, clean, and repair things, the actual childcare part is completely up to your active sim. In order to get the kids to the lot, you will have to take the time to go around and introduce yourself to all the infants and toddlers you want to watch during your active workday (Elinor Sullivan starts as a daycare worker who already knows a bunch, if you want to just dive right in with her). Then you just head to the daycare center with those sims (or choose “invite to hangout at current lot” from the relationship panel once you’re there) and viola! You can have an active workday caring for infants and toddlers. There is, unfortunately, no way to send them home from a community lot, so just leave when you’re done for the day—the other daycare workers will see them safely home. The lot type for the daycare center is set to Community Space, mainly because this lot type spawns the least randos while still allowing club gatherings. I don’t recommend changing it to any of the other built-in venue types unless you want it overrun with community members who really have no business being there.
Yoga instructors have great spaces to teach both indoors at the rec center and outdoors in Gilbert Gardens. Just throw the portable instructor’s mat in your inventory, pick a beautiful spot, and you’re off!
Professional Athletes who specialize in basketball now have an indoor court at the rec center (in addition to the various outdoor courts they already had in San Myshuno proper).
Painters and Freelance Artists who have the ability to mentor may enjoy going to the rec center to “teach an art class” by mentoring the sims who show up to do art. Musicians and Personal Trainers can also do this (though it won’t help with the “mentor sims at a gym” work task, since the rec center does not count as a gym).
Street artists can hawk their paintings at the art sales wall I have added by the standing piano in Anchorpoint Wharf.
Buskers now have a busking station on the formerly-useless dock area in Hopewell Hills. Plus I added a kids’ lemonade stand (functional for drinking lemonade, though not for selling), some counters with an ice cream maker, a table you can actually sit at, a meditation stool, a yoga mat, and an art easel, so there’s actually, you know, a reason to go there.
A credits map for San Sequoia will be going up within the next few days.
New Clubs: I added a bunch of new clubs, mostly community classes at the Rec Center, but also some that were simply inspired by Growing Together and the infant update, particularly the New Parents’ Support Group. Go check them out!
New Connections: Since family reunions are a new thing with Growing Together, and they’re frankly more fun to play if your sims have big extended families spread across several households, I have linked some of the pre-existing Maxis families with new family relationships for this version of the save file. I finally put something together: Spencer is the last name of Dennis Kim’s ex-wife (Alice Spencer-Kim’s mother) and also of Francine Spencer, matriarch of the Harris family—plus Francine Spencer and Alice Spencer-Kim have very similar body types and facial structures. So I decided to make Francine Spencer into the missing ex-wife/mother, meaning that the “Multigenerational Family” household in Newcrest and the “Food Salvagers” household in Evergreen Harbor are now estranged branches of the same family. And then I thought: why stop there? Francine Spencer also looks a great deal like Jaques Villareal, and their sons (Cletus Harris and Hugo Villareal, respectively) are the spitting image of one another. So I also made Francine Spencer and Jaques Villareal siblings (I presume half, since their surnames and native languages are different), so now the “Retired Mob Boss & Kids” household in Tartosa is also in the mix. Will all these disparate branches of Francine Spencer’s broken family reunite at a family reunion one day, allowing long-lost siblings and cousins to finally meet? Up to you!
A New Sim: Sunny Retirement Village in Oasis Springs has a new resident! Sebastian Michaelson, father of Celeste Michaelson, has moved into one of the nice trailers alongside Blossom and Mary Greenburg, who have connected over their families’ respective adoption stories.
A New Occult: I realized there was one playable occult type I forgot to include in previous versions of the save file: servo! So I had Cameron Fletcher make one for the FutureSim Employees household. Mr. Roboto is now the official service bot for the whole employee housing complex.
Updates to Public Areas: A few places have been updated with new features and gameplay items that came with Growing Together:
SimCinema City in downtown Del Sol Valley has some new competition! A new, modern movie theater has sprung up at the end of Starlight Boulevard for the sims who would rather be transported to an alternate dimension by new releases than enjoy classic movies in a quaint golden age relic. They have to participate in a scavenger hunt to get in, though (the place has hipster speakeasy pretensions), so you may see them wandering off in random directions before the movie starts.
The Mesa National Park Museum of Natural History in StrangerVille finally clued in that the only people coming to see its cheesy dinosaur displays were families with children who were obsessed with dinosaurs, so it decided to embrace its key clientele by re-branding as a children’s museum! There are now kid-specific activities on every floor, including a stunning interactive fake tree display with treehouse that is now the centerpiece of the museum. Younger siblings are welcome, as well, with new high chairs in the cafe, changing tables and toddler potties in the bathroom, a special nap and play space in what used to be the children’s corner, and of course a toddler jungle gym outside on which to play space explorer. This place might have been boring before, but it’s now the primo family destination in StrangerVille!
Conifer Station, Evergreen Harbor’s steampunk downtown area, had—against all the soundest advice—tried to turn an old water treatment plant into a library, insisting that books and water could exist side-by-side. Not so. A serious mold epidemic destroyed the entire collection. So, the residents of Conifer Station have decided to admit defeat and leave the book business to the much better equipped library just up the mountain in Moonwood Mill. For the next incarnation of the waterworks, they decided to embrace the water instead of fighting it and turned the place into an indoor water park celebrating the Sound’s beloved and iconic orca population. Of course, that comes with its own drawbacks, and the number of people who have become ill after playing there has created serious community demand for someone to come up with a plan to address contamination in the water supply

The massive children’s space in the Uptown Branch Library has been updated to be more infant-friendly. Play mats, new changing tables in the bathrooms, and “Reading is fun!” decals abound!
A New Season: All this updating took me straight into the middle of winter, so since the save file now starts in the middle of winter I have updated some of the variable lots to their winter variants accordingly. If you go to a variable lot (or prom) and find yourself overwhelmed with paper snowflakes, that’s why. All are easy to change back once the season changes; just vote the variable lots into the state you prefer and download your preferred prom off the gallery using the hashtag #careerworld.
Have fun with the new update! I think it adds a lot of depth, and I hope you’ll enjoy!

Thank you so much - this fixed it for me too!  I was getting so annoyed!!
How to fix ReShade MXAO, DOF issues
Hey, guys! Recently I moved from GShade to ReShade and faced quite unpleasant issue with MXAO and DOF shaders. I was ready to give up on having any ReShade in my game when finally found a solution from @pictureamoebae. Well, it was rather a hint on the solution in the comments, but nevertheless! Thanks to @pictureamoebae for giving me the right direction!^^ After updating my ReShade I faced the same problem again and decided to make this mini tutorial:3
SO! If you’re *lucky* as I am and after installing (or updating/reinstalling) your ReShade, using MXAO or any DOF you see your game looking like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, here’s how you can fix it! Open your ReShade, find “Edit global processor definitions” and click on it. RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED most likely would have 1 annoying cupcake next to it.
Tumblr media
CHANGE IT TO 0! No cupcakes for this line. Not a single one!
Tumblr media
TADA!

Living Life (through my Sims!)
Meet Nia Lane. Nia has decided to travel the worlds and has started out in Mt Komorebi.
I’ve been playing her a while in a very relaxed save loosely based on the Globetrotter challenge by @moonfi and I’m loving it.  I am trying to explore other aspects of the game other than my usual family/legacy style.  The backpack is this one.
The other save I am loving at the moment is The Ultimate Decades Challenge  as it is sooo different.

This looks so much fun!
A Garden Legacy: With Some Updates
Tumblr media
With the new expansion I am SO stoked to play, and have put a lot of thought into how I can get the most out of the new family dynamics. I've had the most success with @cowplant-pizza's Garden Legacy but wanted to update some things to make the challenge more challenging, and by incorporating features from newer expansions (the Version 2 challenge was made for Seasons). I've started game play, and am really enjoying my sim, and the challenges I've set for myself, and wanted to post an introduction, as well as my rules, updates, etc., before I start posting gameplay.
Rules
I really like the original rules, so the only thing I updated is the money cheats. I used Free Real Estate to purchase the house in Brindleton Bay to get things going.
I doubt my sims will also live on the same lot, so that is one rule that I may break along the way.
Other Changes
I've set lifespan to longest so that I have plenty of time for the updated parts of the challenge.
Since the main theme is gardening, I've set seasons to the longest option as well.
I also installed @LilSimsie's Save File to add a new look to my game, and bring in new families, houses, etc., as anytime I think I'll change out the whole world, I get overwhelmed and end up starting a new save.
When I first loaded the game, I took the opportunity to set up some holidays throughout the year to keep me interested, as well as hopefully take advantage of more elements of gameplay. My added holidays are listed below.
When viewing my challenge progress page, tasks I added for myself will be highlighted.
Added Holidays
Summer
Wet N Wild - BBQ, Drinking, Fireworks, Water Fun
Summer Vacation - Three Days, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, encourages travel. -- Day One - Go on vacation or travel, Day Two - BBQ, Water Fun, Day Three - Vacation or travel (home), clean (like packing, getting ready to leave).
So Long Summer - BBQ, Water Fun, Invite Guests
Autumn
Neighborhood BBQ - BBQ, drinking, fire, invite guests, tell stories
Trick or Treat - Costumes, spooky spirit, decorate, wear costumes, trick or treat
Winter
Game Night - Invite guests, games
Winterfest Eve - Festive lighting, festive spirit, attend ceremony
Polar Bear Plunge - Polar bear plunge, streaking, water fun
Spring
Flower Fest - Flower bunny, egg hunt, garden, clean
Earth Day - Gardening & Thankful spirit
Spring Break - Three Days, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, encourages travel -- Day One - Go on vacation or travel, Day Two - BBQ, Games, Day Three - Vacation or travel (home), clean (like packing, getting ready to leave)

Such an amazing savefile! I might have to try my CAS skills out 😖
i mentioned it on my youtube community tab the other day but if any of y’all have sims (preferably no cc) that u think would fit my save file’s vibe u can upload them to the gallery with the tag #florwaltownies and i’ll add them as background characters <3 ty to everyone that’s already uploaded some i love them. i’m trying to fill the save with as many new sims as i can so i can eventually get rid of every maxis premade as i redo more worlds.
if u want to make some they can be for portsim or del sol valley since i’m working on it rn - some celebrities are fine but i want the save to continue to be focused on regular lower income families, a few middle class families, and crime
