I know in the grand scheme of things I'll turn dragonpants and the au Diego into OCs like at this point dragonpants is verifiably mine they're my scrungly they're my baby, my honey, my rag time pal. When Diego isn't on the stick it's dragonpants going rotisserie style in my brain. The big dragon spouse tailored specifically to my tastes and their little human slowly changing with no way to stop it. It's the inevitability of it all, the learning to trust and love again after losing much of yourself. To be willing to work on it even if the hurt doesn't stop. It's about being pinned by a 9ft dragon person when you won't stop being insufferable. It's about learning to live again.

also been thinking a lot about johnny's whole talk about gyro being someone who has 'inherited' and diego as someone who has 'stolen' instead of the dichotomy being like inherited vs earned like diego didn't steal shit, he would have had to work to become a jockey having no name no title only his ~mystical~ affinity to horses (aka horse girl syndrome) equally rich coming from johnny, also a big fucking 'inheritor' of his wealth, status and horse riding tenure. (I do not care if he claims he is not making judgement, he inheritently is by classing diego with something morally ill 'stealing/thievery' vs birthright and this sort of 'right to have' just because of circumstance of birth) Idk I'm just putting down loose thoughts but also very sexy that diego and hot pants are in positions where they had to reforge their identities due to different childhood traumas, it's like that 'same hat' comic to me <3
