how did you get into the longer ultras?
The same way anybody gets into running! Starts with a mile. Then 5Ks. Eventually a full marathon. The main switch point for me was when the stress of hitting exact paces/places in races became too much. You can’t compare one trail mile to the next, or one 50K to another 50K. I am lucky to be surrounded by a lot of badass women who pursued 100-milers and helped guide me. When the opportunity came up, I had to try it. You never know how far you can go until you go there, ya know? And don’t we all like to get a little uncomfortable in the running space? 😊

Life update:
After months of working my actual butt off, ya girl won the non-elite women’s division of Run Rabbit Run 100-miler over the weekend. 15th out of ~430 total people who started.
Body and mind are still in shock, but heart is undoubtedly full ❤️

Do you mind if I ask your name? You look SO much like my good friend from elementary school who moved away 😭
Initials at the time (before I got married) were SB!

My mind was running through the woods instead

Miss big mountain running more than anything, but at least the trails are dry where I can still admire some of ‘em 🥰
