tell the people about epclot 👀
EPCLOT is the result me watching too many theme park vloggers, and also my love of hurting my blaseball blorbos.
Right after the Semi-Centennial, an entity called The Collector take both the Vault Legends and the Rising Stars and puts them in its collection, in the Blaseball Parks and Resort (officially the Resort League). The Blaseball players are put on their teams they were on when the Semi-Centenial started, often haphazardly, and forced to play games for tourists, with actors filling out their teams.
Right now, the main three characters are Alto Patterson, captaining the Talkers, Commissioner Vapor captaining the Spies, and York Silk captaining the Garages.
I'm going to put more under the fold cause I get mean
There's a Garages cover band called The Carparks, playing sanitized, capitalist-friendly versions of their songs.
Day X happens at the end of every week (even for the players that weren't there). Imagine the one of the most important thing that happened in your life being reduced to a theme park show.
The actors who play specific players get makeup for their characters. They have dossiers on their character and who they like, love, and hate. They don't understand why the actual players act so hostile towards them.
Some of the players are puppets (like Socks Maybe or London Simmons). Nagomi Nava lost Passenger going in, and Passenger is a puppet (Gomi will destroy this puppet many, many times).
The actors are starting to forget who they are.
And when the Collector is displeased, he might put a player on Display (imagine being shelled but everyone can see you and you can see everyone)
And things look bad for our players, but very quietly, the Spies are coming up with a plan...
TL;DR I've invented a new way to torture Blaseball players!

EPCLOT my beloved it's sooooo messed up :)
One of my favourite mean things is that Eugenia is there, because she was in the semi Cent, but the Ziwa was not - so the actor playing Ziwa is this college theatre student who signed up to what they thought was a normal theme park actor summer job because their friends were, and when it turned out they couldn't leave, they were terrified of everything, and getting incinerated because they were messing up their character, and they're mostly separated from all their friends, but their team captain seems to know all of this and does seem to go out of her way to be kind to everyone and their info packet says she's supposed to know them well, and so they sort of cling to her because she feels safe.
And meanwhile Eugenia is 100 kinds of dying inside because this kid, who is badly made up with stage prosthetics to resemble her lost partner, wants to be around her all the time and every time she sees them it feels like being torn apart.
Fun times 😭

Mesolithic megafauna were my special interest about a decade ago :)
I'm always thinking about car sized armadillos (glyptodont) and bears that were way bigger than any extant bear but couldn't even hunt with their weirdly long legs (giant short faced bear) and giant ground sloths so big the fruits they used to eat have just no natural fertilization in some cases now so they're evolutionary leftovers... very neat :)

I feel like it's also worth mentioning one of the original questions was, 10+ years after blaseball ends has anyone started this universe's Goop, lol (I can't think of anyone but Jesstel has some kind of celebrity product)
Who are the nepo babies of Blaseball?
So me and @mossy-kit were talking about which players were nepo babies, like whose parents helped them get into the league. A few we came up with:
Tillman absolutely screams spoiled rich kid
The Telephone parents pushing their kids Sebastian and Jessica in for the fame and everything that brings with that
And Melton being the estranged sibling, the one that's been less useful to their parents, reluctantly being dragged into the splort
And obviously, Parker
I know the logistics of this are weird, but the splort had grind rails and physical runs, so this would be one of the least weird things about it.

10. Who is always reminding the other not to forget important documents/general things before leaving out the door?
Workman's generally the one who remembers things like that! However when Dot forgets stuff they can abuse their dimensional powers to try and quickly grab it. This usually doesn't result in them accidentally yeeting their wallet into another dimension. Usually.
13. Stay home/go-out? What are their date nights like?
They don't really do Date Nights and tbh I think a lot of times they just decide in the moment whatever they want to do, whether that's go throw the ball around in the park with Beasley or just have a nice chill night in the apartment. In the winter when the weather is right they like to go out skating :)

I think they're both decent cooks, not spectacular but able to make reasonably good food. Workman has more innate cooking ability but Dot can cook extremely efficiently with all those extra hands
7. Who's clumsier?
Definitely Dot! They're the picture of elegance on the mound but in any other situation they're likely to trip over their own feet. Workman, like any good Shoe Thief, is extremely coordinated in general.

22. Love languages? How do they get around differences, if any?
ok I'm not a love language expert but glancing at it I think probably physical touch for both of them? Which is a bit of a struggle at first just because of Dot's whole "I am a weird squid thing with too many arms and nobody would ever want to touch me" thing, but once they get over that (as depicted in this fic! which I think not enough people have read!), they're super cuddly and hand-holdy with each other all the time. Even more so after Dot's alting incident, because holding on to Workman is a good way to help them feel more grounded in this universe.

I'm gonna be real I am perpetually bad at knowing what media any characters would like. I could see them both enjoying documentaries tbh? That's my vague answer lol

I think when Dot was away in the Core and Dallas they tried to call each other whenever possible so they could properly talk!
...and now I'm thinking, what if Dot's fingers aren't particularly compatible with phone touchscreens, so they have to make a lot of extra effort to text either bc they have to wrestle with the screen, or bc they had to get an ancient nokia or something similar with buttons, and texting that way is its own kind of struggle. so, calling!
25. (a lil sappy, but..) What do they like about each other?
ough... I think the main thing has always been that they just Get Each Other in ways that other people can't. They both have that love of the sport and that great synchronicity when they play together, and they understand what it's like to be irrevocably changed by it in more ways than most players, to have their old lives stripped away and have their bodies made into something unfamiliar. and they help each other deal with that and work through it! it's good to have someone around who just understands you. kindred spirits. you know how it is
Beyond that, Dot likes that Workman is just such a warm person, someone who brightens up the room and makes them smile, makes them feel more at ease in any situation. Workman likes all the little things about Dot that the blessing tried to hide but couldn't, like their sense of humour and their devotion to their team, and of course how good they are with Beasley and how Workman can trust that Dot is the right person to take care of him when they're not around :')

15. Who's the first to cry during movies that don't seem sad?
I think this definitely depends on the movie! Like, they can't watch anything with ocean scenes in it when SomeThing is around bc it gets upset and bad things happen when it gets upset!!! I think Dian would probably cry at some things in movies. Yado will cry at cute animal scenes. Phoenecia might cry a bit at a scene that reminded her too much of her old life and then she'd have to insist that this isn't crying, it's the new Moisturization Ducts that she gave herself, they're very efficient
37. Who wanted to see Oppenheimer; who Barbie? Did they switch opinions after?
I feel like this is a bit harder for me to answer when I still haven't seen either of them, but here's my best attempt at sorting them:
Team Barbie: Dian, Yado, Jenkins, Elodie, Carson (edit: KEVIN I forgot about Kevin)

Last song: Your Blood by Aurora – according to my last.fm, this is my 11th listen in a row. I finally got around to her latest stuff after loving her first three albums and am very much enjoying it!

Favorite color: tbh I have never had a good answer for this but lately I’ve been saying green
Currently watching: back and forth between “How to Get Rich” (advice show analysing people’s finances and suggesting fixes) and “Living with Yourself” (guy goes to a strip mall spa for a life changing “rejuvenation” and then crawls out of his own grave having been cloned, and then he and his clone bicker a lot abt sharing a life) as background noise for work
Last movie: Last Night in Soho (psychological horror about a girl who can see dead people and after moving to London starts seeing the ghost of a glamorous aspiring lounge singer from the 60s) – really enjoyed this one! It had its better and worse bits but the general vibes were impeccable
Spicy/sweet/savory: savoury for sure
Relationship status: partnered with @yrael!
Current obsession: back in my slow living / minimalism / self care era and working as hard as I can to stoke that so I can function better lol
Last google search: parental estrangement (not about my parents, I was just curious about the patterns)

I’m increasingly worried by all the people on my dash calling themselves insane for loving stories in the way humans have loved stories our whole history. “The brain rot is spreading” — you mean you were changed by art? “I’m not normal about this” — you were moved by it? You felt human emotions about it? “I’m about to be so annoying” — you’re going to talk about art? You’re going to be passionate? You’re going to think deeply about it? You’re going to feel love for the work of someone’s soul? You are not a consumer and art is not a product to be casually used! You are a human and stories are the beating heart of our humanity! You must feel everything and you must know that it is normal!

it's definitely my predisposition to extreme frugality+redneck engineering, but i'm now obsessed with creating things literally without buying Anything. no supplies no tools no nothing, only the stuff you can just find outside, like Plants, Sticks, and Rocks.
I'm making textiles with nothing but foraged plant materials using no tools except sticks. Nature allows you to do this! There's no rules! I mean okay well maybe there might be some rules sometimes but they're just weak human rules! The plants themselves? They're like "Why sure! You can make yarn with nothing but fibers from the dead stem I don't need anymore, a couple sticks from that tree over there, and your own body and mind! Why not?"
Plants like to give us gifts! And nobody has the power to stop them!

It makes me sad that most people around me are so unbelievably burnt out from work and life that they are just truly emotionally unavailable and don't even wanna use their energy for anything beside going out partying once a weekend
It's like watching friends who you've seen be silly and have deep talks work jobs to the point of stress where they are incoherent and respond to messages like legit 6 days later and not in a rude way but genuinely they don't have the mental capacity to do shit anymore
Working jobs and paying bills shouldn't take everything out of people to the extent it really does
Even when I'm off work and I had a shorter shift most of the time I truly have nothing left in the tank after the combo of emotions and physical labor
