This isn't intended to be an rp blog, but if you want me to respond to asks in character just put a ♠ in the ask. This blog is just where I talk about League stuff, which will mostly be toplane Mundo stuff.
Getting used to the Tartarus, also was playing a bit of the new Pantheon, and Renekton, and doing fairly well. Then went into Ranked with Mundo, ready to destroy, straight into the freshly buffed Garen who was very strong and I lacked the coordination to counterplay
Went into an ARAM game trying to get used to my new Razer Tartarus, then my mouse suddenly stops working and I have to switch to a buggy trackpad for the rest of the game, very stressful
(We lost this game) There are only three champions so far that I fear in toplane as Mundo. I always ban Illaoi, because there’s very little counter play one can do against her. Second is Yorick, but depending on his skill level I can sometimes get the upper hand still.
Now, there is Urgot, who apparently is a very strong counter to Mundo. Or maybe this player is just very good. Here’s what he did that made my life a pain.
Reason #1 is Urgot’s ult, which is probably the best true damage execute for dealing with Mundo. Normally, my ult would regen me back to the point where I can’t die, but once Urgot starts reeling you in healing above his execute threshold won’t save you (since technically his ult doesn’t deal true damage, it just kills anyone reeled in) so the only way to survive a reel is either to have someone else kill Urgot before it finishes, or to somehow become untargetable, like maybe with a bard ult.
Reason #2, he rushed Merc Treads. Mundo’s Q (which I max first) deals magic damage based on the target’s current health, so the magic resist both limits my actual damage output and the passive reduces the slow time on the Q. As he got tankier throughout the game, it wasn’t even worth it trying to fight him.
Reason #3, Mortal Reminder obviously inflicts Grievous Wounds, which just about invalidates everything Mundo does.
Reason #4, Urgot’s E is a shield based on his %max health and physical damage, which kind of trumps Mundo’s %current health Q.
Reason #5, Urgot’s Q, not really the worst thing in the world, but kind of counters my playstyle. The slow pretty much prevents me from using the Mundo Q+Approach Velocity combo.
Despite getting First Blood, I made some dumb plays early game (ex. in a 1v1 a cleaver hit a minion that I chose to just hope it wouldn’t, otherwise I would’ve won the fight) that gave Urgot the lead on me, and by the time I was 1/3 it had already been my worst game as Mundo this season (and maybe ever).
By the end of the game I’d decided to ignore Urgot and Nunu mostly unless they got caught by themselves, choosing instead to peel their backline damage dealers, which had some success, but even after selling my boots for merc treads they had so much CC that charging head-on (a tactic that most team comps can’t do anything about) didn’t prove very effective, and other than Veigar no one was really able to capitalize on it. I would normally have starting building more offensive items (typically Titanic Hydra and then Shojin’s Spear or Phantom Dancer) but I felt like with Urgots raw damage output even on his own I needed grievous wounds on him and then started building towards Thornmail, just searching for the right answer
That being said, there were other factors that negatively affected the game. Akali was very roamy, while in the meantime WW told us he was just gonna farm jungle unless we pinged for help (which I’m pretty sure... junglers should just be aware of the map and when they should gank? That’s their job?) Xayah wasn’t doing too hot early game, especially with Nunu and Akali consistently ganking them and the enemy team having better grouping and teamfight power.
