Superspecies History: Skullcrawlers
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we begin to move away from the Titans (for now, at least) and cover the wider range of superspecies that also inhabit our world. We begin by peeling back the expansive curtains of Skull Island's many dangers with the devils that lurk beneath the surface; the Skullcrawlers.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Small clip of footage recovered from the 1973 Skull Island expedition, showing the awakened Skull Devil)
Monarch Database File: Skullcrawlers
Monarch Designation: Cranium reptant (scientific name), Halakrah (Iwi name)
Height: 12-95 feet
Length: 35-194 feet
Weight: 40-100 tons
Behaioural Classification: Hypervore, Destroyer
-----
A distant member of the Salamandra family of amphibians, the Skullcrawlers are ravenous and eternally hungry predators that dominate the Valley of the Fallen Gods, a boneyard holding the remains of Kong's parents. Widely considered as demonic by the native Iwi tribe, the Skullcrawlers were responsible for nearly driving the Apus giganticus species to extinction, leaving Kong the only survivor (until recently).
The Skullcrawlers have a distinct and eerie skull-like face, prehensile tongues that can drag prey to a gruesome mouth full of teeth, and a disturbing ability to mimic human voices. Their hyper-adrenalised metabolism renders them constantly needing to eat, never satisfied, to such an extent that mating pairs will attempt to devour one another after mating, and will never back down from a potential meal, even at the risk of ignoring threats to themselves such as Kong or Mechagodzilla.
The level of fear that the Skullcrawlers brought to the hearts of the Iwi was so much that they refused to speak its name. Hank Marlow, a WW2 pilot stranded on Skull Island, coined the name "Skullcrawlers" for the species. While he tried to withdraw this, personally believing that the name sounded stupid when he said it aloud, the name stuck and later became their official designation.
It should be noted that there is a misconception regarding whether or not Skullcrawlers are classified as Titans, due to an erroneous data report labelling them as 'Titanus Cranium Reptant' emerging in 2021. Just for the record, so the air is cleared, say it with us now...Skullcrawlers are NOT Titans.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Close-up shot of a Skullcrawler's mouth. Unfortunately, the brave soul who took this footage did not survive the encounter)
Evolved from a line of basal non-amniote reptilomorphs from the Hollow Earth, the volatile history of the Skullcrawlers began thousands of years ago, when they seemed to wage war with the Apus giganticus species that had migrated to the island following their war with the Titanus Gojira species. As the centuries went on, the Skullcrawlers gradually wiped out the great apes until only a single pair were left; Kong's parents.
In the 17th Century, Kong's parents fought their final battle against a swarm of adult Skullcrawlers. While Kong's father held the hypervores back until one drove its tail through his head, Kong's mother gave birth to him and hid him away in a nearby cave. The newborn Kong was helpless to watch as the Skullcrawlers murdered his parents, fuelling his anger toward them and desire to defend the Iwi for centuries to come.
In 1973, at the end of the Vietnam War, a joint Monarch-Landsat expedition to Skull Island had been derailed by an enraged Kong destroying their fleet of helicopters, in response to the choppers dropping seismic charges to map the island's surface. Unbeknownst to the expedition team at the time, their charges had awakened a group of juvenile Skullcrawlers resting within thermal vents beneath the island.
One group of the expedition team found themselves taken in by the Iwi people, where they met stranded veteran Hank Marlow. Marlow revealed the existence of the Skullcrawlers to the group whilst explaining Kong's role on the island. He revealed that the seismic charges had disturbed the Skullcrawlers, and that one of the beasts had killed his enemy-turned-friend Gunpei Ikari some years prior. Marlow stressed the importance of Kong's continued survival and growth, warning that if Kong were to go down, the "Big One" would rise up and the Iwi would be wiped out.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A juvenile Skullcrawler within the boneyard, circa. 1973)
When the split expedition team reunited, they moved through the boneyard on an ill-advised rescue mission for a soldier, Jack Chapman. As they moved through the boneyard, they hide from a juvenile Skullcrawler that regurgitated Chapman's skeletal remains, having killed him some time prior. The Skullcrawler attacked again, killing senior Monarch operative William Randa and shredding through Colonel Preston Packard's forces before being killed by a gas explosion triggered by anti-war photographer Mason Weaver throwing a lighter into a gas vent.
Packard pressed on with his original plan to kill Kong, despite protests from Marlow. When the ape passed out from Packard's napalm trap, the "Big One" (a Skull Devil, the last fully-grown Skullcrawler) emerged from the nearby waters and approached the party. A weakened Kong attempted to fight back but was defeated, as the Skull Devil pursued the remaining survivors.
The Skull Devil swatted away soldier Earl Cole, not falling for his attempt to coerce it into eating him whilst holding a pair of grenades. As the Skull Devil closed in on the survivors, Kong rejoined the fight and engaged it in a vicious encounter. With some assistance from the humans, Kong killed the Skull Devil by ripping its internal organs out through its mouth. Satsified that he had avenged his parents, Kong left the humans alone to be rescued from the island.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic interpretation of the battle between Kong's ancestors and the Skullcrawlers)
In 1995-1996, during Aaron Brooks' unauthorised expedition to Skull Island, mythographer Walter Riccio experienced visions of the island's past, including the war between the Skullcrawler's and Kong's ancestors. An English-speaking member of the Iwi, Ato, explained to Aaron that the Skullcrawler population had receded following the Skull Devil's demise, their numbers controlled by Kong and none reaching the size of the Skull Devil. The team still had to evade two juveniles in the boneyard, however.
In 2019, a horde of Skullcrawlers attempted to respond to Monster Zero's call and leave Skull Island, but were prevented from doing so by Kong.
By 2024, Apex Cybernetics had managed to obtain a number of Skullcrawler eggs, and may have been breeding the animals for experimentation. A small team composed of conspiracy theorist Bernie Hayes, Monarch director Mark Russell's daughter Madison, and her friend Josh Valentine, infiltrated an Apex facility in Pensacola following Godzilla's attack, and stumbled upon a transport bound for Hong Kong carrying a clutch of Skullcrawler eggs.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A giant Skullcrawler being executed by Apex Cybernetics' superweapon, Mechagodzilla, circa. 2024)
The trio found their way into a "sacrifice pit" containing various assorted viscera from previous creatures, including Skullcrawlers. They had arrived just in time to witness a demonstration of Apex's trump card, a Titan-sized mech built in Godzilla's image, christened as Mechagodzilla. CEO Walter Simmons, witnessing the demonstration, ordered the release of "Number 10" into the pit.
Number 10, a Skullcrawler exceeding the Skull Devil in size, charged at the humans and attempted to eat Madison before being grabbed by Mechagodzilla. The mecha dislocated the Skullcrawler's limbs, leaving it helpless to defend itself as it fired it's A-74 Proton Scream Cannon into the beast's mouth, slicing the Skullcrawler in half before deactivating due to power limitations.
-----
And there you go! Despite the many discoveries Monarch have made since 1973, few seem to compare to the Skullcrawlers in terms of how terrifying they are. While none are known to remain on Skull Island, populations surely still exist within Hollow Earth, endlessly searching for food to reach an impossible satisfaction...
Until next time,

Titan History: The Awakened Gods
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we embark on the undertaking of rounding off the remaining handful of Titans known to have been awakened by Monster Zero in 2019. Currently, the Monarch database does not hold enough information on each Titan to warrant giving them their own entries, whether due to digital sabotage, loss of data amid containment breaches, or some other cause.
If more data does resurface, we will act accordingly and revisit these Titans as is relevant, but for now, let us round off the remaining Awakened Gods.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Part of a global Titan map, containing the locations of outposts and the name of the Titan they are studying)
This list will be compiled based on numerical order of Monarch outposts.
-----
Titanus Leviathan
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Infamous 1933 photo of the Loch Ness Monster, possibly the first notable sighting of Leviathan)
Formerly contained within Outpost 49, Leviathan was found within Loch Ness, Scotland by Monarch. This Titan gets its name from the aquatic counterpart to Titanus Behemoth from the Hebrew Bible.
-----
Titanus Quetzalcoatl
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A stone carving of Quetzalcoatl, found on a temple in Teotihuacan, Mexico)
Formerly contained within Outpost 57, Quetzalcoatl was found within Machu Piccu, Peru. This Titan gets it name from a feathered Aztec serpent god.
-----
Titanus Sekhmet
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Depiction of Sekhmet in ancient Egyptian artwork)
Formerly contained in Outpost 65, Sekhmet was found in Cairo, Egypt. This Titan gets its name from the Egyptian goddess of medicine.
-----
Titanus Baphomet
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A statue of Baphomet flanked by two children, unveiled at the Satanic Temple in 2015)
Formerly contained in Outpost 68, Baphomet was found in Volubilis, Morocco. This Titan got its name from a perversion of the name of the prophet Mohammed, later associated with a goat-like diety in the 19th Century with ties to Satan.
-----
Titanus Mokele-Mbembe
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Recovered footage from Outpost 75, showing Mokele-Mbembe's escape obscured by smoke, circa. 2019)
Titanus Mokele-Mbembe, formerly contained in Outpost 75, in Jebel Barkal, Sudan, got its name from a water-dwelling diety in the Congo River Basin, later becoming popularly depicted as a sauropod-like cryptid in the 20th Century.
In reality, the Titan is a massive quadrupedal beast with a snake-like tail, a head much like a hairless elephant, with jaws that open like a crocodile's, a horn atop its head that glows a faded green, and downward-facing tusks.
When Monster Zero awoke the world's Titans, the director of Outpost 75, Dr. Kearns, refused to kill the Titan under the belief that the military just wanted an excuse to kill the Titans. Mokele-Mbembe killed most of the outpost's staff upon its escape, pulling some into its mouth with its trunk. Upon reaching the surface, Mokele-Mbembe battled Monarch forces and the Egyptian military before being pacified by the ORCA.
-----
Titanus Abbadon
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic depiction of Abbadon battling Christian, from The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan)
Formerly contained in Outpost 77, Abbadon was found in the Devil's Tower, Wyoming. This Titan got its name from a place of destruction, the 'sister location' to Hell (Sheol), a name later used for an angel who commanded an army of locusts in the Book of Revelations.
-----
Titanus Yamata no Orochi
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A woodblock print of the storm god Susanoo slaying Yamata no Orochi, by Toyohara Chikanobou)
Formerly contained within Outpost 91, Yamata no Orochi was found by Monarch in Mount Fuji, Japan. This Titan gets its name from an 8-headed serpent from Japanese mythology.
While the only current footage relating to Yamata no Orochi shows its outpost collapsing from the Titan's escape, it is known that the Titan had attacked a cruise ship in Japanese waters before being pacified by the ORCA. The Titan has been reported by one account to also have multiple heads.
-----
Titanus Typhon
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Depiction of Zeus aiming a thunderbolt at Typhon, upon a black-figured hydria, circa. 540-530 BC)
Formerly contained within Outpost 92, Typhon was found within Angkor Watt, Cambodia. This Titan gets its name from a serpentine giant from Greek mythology, the father of monsters.
A member of Monarch's primary mythology department, Greg Keyes, had lost vital information regarding Typhon during the Titan's awakening in 2019. To this day, he still working to retrieve this data from a corrupted database.
-----
Titanus Bunyip
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic depiction of Bunyip in 1935, by Gerald Markham Lewis)
Formerly contained in Outpost 99, Bunyip was found by Monarch within Uluru (Ayer's Rock), Australia. This Titan gets its name from a swamp-dwelling creature in South Australian aboriginal folklore.
-----
And there you go! We apologise for being unable to provide much more information on these Titans, but rest assured we are hard at work scouring our databases and working to recover what we can so that we can provide more detailed accounts in future.
Until next time,

Titan History: Camazotz
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we look to a Titan whose awakening was foretold by ancient legend, said to be the beginning of darkness falling upon the world; the demonic lord of the night, Camazotz.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic pinup of Camazotz, courtesy of Outpost 33's chief expedition manager, Mohammad "Zid" Yazid)
Monarch Database File: Camazotz
Monarch Designation: Titanus Camazotz
Height: 164 feet
Wingspan: 402 feet
Nature: Bio-Sonic
Behavioural Classification: Destroyer
-----
"A darkness will swallow the world, and the King of the Deep will rise and rise, and the sun will die on his tongue..."
The above quote, an English translation of an ancient Iwi prophecy, does well to invoke the fear that Camazotz plants deep in the hearts of those who hear it. A giant bat, with torn wings decorated with lethal spikes, demonic horns and fangs, and an armour-plated body, Camazotz is sure to be almost exactly how one would envision him upon hearing about him.
A nocturnal tyrant, only emerging under cover of darkness to claim the land for his own, Camazotz does not act on his own. A Titan ruler in his own right, Camazotz commands an army of draconic bat-like minions that will swarm his enemies and tear them apart at his behest, or battle smaller opponents while Camazotz brawls with his main quarry.
Tumblr media
(Artistic depiction of Camazotz and his minions battling G-Team pilots over San Diego, circa. 2019)
Camazotz has his roots deep in mythology, menacing humanity for thousands of years. On Skull Island, Camazotz is a beast of the night that lurks within the Hollow Earth, waiting for darkness to fall upon the island so that he can rise to conquer it. Some evidence uncovered by Monarch suggests that a temple dedicated to Camazotz rests somewhere in the Hollow Earth, complete with its own clan of bat-worshippers and a temple guardian who defends the territory in Camazotz's absence.
During the Monster Zero crisis, Camazotz awakened over San Diego, where he battled with G-Team fighter pilots alongside his army of minions. Following the battle, Camazotz retreated to Hollow Earth, waiting beneath Skull Island for his time to rise.
In 2021, Monster Zero seemed to posthumously grant Camazotz his desire. A storm generated by Monster Zero in the Pacific merged with the perpetual storm system surrounding Skull Island, plunging the island into darkness and chaos. Camazotz readily seized his opportunity and emerged from the vortex beneath the island.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: G-Team pilot Audrey Burns creating a sonic boom in front of Camazotz's face to disorient him, circa. 2021)
Camazotz did battle with Kong, the Titan guardian of Skull Island, aided by his hellish army. The two Titans fought viciously, though Camazotz's aerial superiority granted him the advantage over the landlocked Kong.
A daring plan by G-Team pilot Audrey Burns, who had been mentally scarred by Camazotz in 2019, was put into place to disorient him long enough for Kong to turn the tide of battle. Facing her fears head-on and refusing to back down, Burns triggered a sonic boom in the demon-bat's face, disorienting him long enough for Kong to take victory, banishing Camazotz back from whence he came by punching him back down into the Hollow Earth.
While Skull Island was quickly rendered uninhabitable in the aftermath of the battle, Monarch believe quite firmly that Camazotz is still alive, biding his time until he can strike again. To date, Monarch have yet to authorise the expedition into Hollow Earth to locate Camazotz's temple.
-----
And there you go! Camazotz is almost certainly a terrifying prospect, and the idea of him lurking deep in the Hollow Earth sends chills down Monarch's spine. While the Hollow Earth can take solace in having Kong as its protector, the outcome of their rematch will remain to be seen...

Titan History: Methuselah
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we look to a Titan that spent untold centuries hiding in plain sight, becoming one with nature so expertly, that nobody knew it was there until it rose up; the Titan sentinel, Methuselah.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Methuselah rising up from his resting place outside of Munich, circa. 2019)
Monarch Database File: Methuselah
Monarch Designation: Titanus Methuselah
Height: 322 feet
Weight: 170,000 tons
Nature: Bio-Geological
Behavioural Classification: Protector
-----
While Methuselah may be lacking in the elemental abilities embraced by a range of other Titans, he makes up for it by embodying the land itself. Carrying a colossal mountain and forest upon his back, Methuselah can seemlessly blend in to any natural environment, burrowing himself underground to hide the rest of his hulking frame.
Arguably the most defensively capable of the Titans, Methuselah's build makes him an extremely durable creature, able to shrug off most attacks and bulldoze other Titans with his size in battle. Throughout history, Methuselah has shielded humanity from disaster and carried civilisations to safety, acting as a living Ark that has guided humanity through catastrophe time and time again.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: An X-Ray scan of Methuselah, part of Monarch's bioacoustic database)
Sometime in the distant past, Methuselah came into contact with a village outside of Munich, Germany. The Titan completely flattened the village, reducing it to ruin, before claiming the site as his resting place. As centuries passed, a legend formed around this mysterious mountain that just appeared in place of the village one day. It wasn't until Monarch came across Methuselah that the truth had become known.
In 2019, Methuselah finally rose up to answer Monster Zero's alpha call, pulling himself up from the ground and approaching Munich. He ravaged the city until the ORCA pacified him, and he made his way to Boston. He was one of the few Titans that made it to Boston in time to see Godzilla claiming his status as Alpha Titan.
In 2024, shortly before Godzilla's Pensacola attack, he seemed to be on a trajectory from South America to wherever Methuselah had taken up new residence. According to Monarch, Godzilla was only 100 miles from Methuselah's location before pivoting to Pensacola.
While no other major events involving Methuselah have been reported since 2019, it should be noted that the Titan earned the nickname "Archie" from some Monarch staff due to spending an unknown period of time posing as a remote island in a Canadian archipelago.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Recorded footage of Methuselah's rampage through Munich, circa. 2019)
-----
And there you go! While Methuselah continues to remain in a state of dormancy, Monarch do advise the public that the slumbering Titan could well be anywhere, disguised as a mountain or remote island anywhere in the world. So, you never know, the ground you tread upon may well be the back of this impressive Titan.

After Dark Special Report: The Titan Hunter
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we once more pull away from chronicling the Titans to provide a special report on a recent shocking discovery from within the Hollow Earth; the artificial assassin, the Titan Hunter.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Concept sketches of the Titan Hunter mecha)
After uncovering the destroyed remains of a large humanoid mech in the Hollow Earth, Monarch soon learned of an anti-Titan conspiracy over a decade in the making, and corruption from within its own ranks that allowed it to happen.
The man behind this conspiracy was Raymond Martin, a private contractor and head of the organisation RM Construction. Left mentally and physically scarred following the deaths of his family during the events of G-Day, Martin developed a deep animosity to all superspecies and Titans, spending several years pooling his resources into the clandestine construction of a mechanical suit that would allow him to take the revenge he sought.
Over the years, Martin had also taken up the hobby of trophy hunting, targeting superspecies found within Skull Island and the Hollow Earth. A search of his trophy room found the taxidermined remains of many species, including Sker Buffalo, Hellhawks and Skullcrawler eggs. He had been contracted by Monarch many times through RM Construction, which allowed him to set up shop on a private island with a vortex leading into the Hollow Earth where he could hunt.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Raymond Martin, the man behind the Titan Hunter)
In 2027, Martin's project was finally complete. Capturing a Hollow Earth species known as the Spineprowler, Martin used the unsuspecting animal as a guinea pig for the mech's capability, brutally killing the Spineprowler when it tried to escape. In order to keep Godzilla from learning of the Titan Hunter, Martin activated a series of reactor beacons that lured Scylla to the surface, who in turn lured Godzilla and kept the government's eyes away from him.
Taking advantage of his contract with Monarch, Martin had successfully bribed enough high-ranking officials to grant him 48 hours of unrestriced access to the Hollow Earth. With the Titan Hunter already transported down and waiting for him, Martin embarked on a killing spree, taking down any superspecies he came across.
Martin's rampage brought him to a pair of Spineprowler cubs, which he intended to kill. He was prevented from doing so by their mother, who he quickly slaughtered, before Kong himself had arrived to defend the cubs. Following a short brawl, the Titan Hunter was stopped when Kong suplexed the mecha off a cliff. Martin himself had escaped the wreckage, but met his end when the Spineprowler cubs chose to avenge their mother.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic rendition of the Titan Hunter battling a Spineprowler mother defending her cubs, circa. 2027)
Following the discovery of the Titan Hunter's remains by Monarch and the subsequent knowledge of how Martin's killing spree was allowed to happen, Monarch's Ilene Andrews took action by increasing security around all Hollow Earth entrances and within Monarch's ranks, to prevent further incidents down the line.
-----
And there you go! The Titan Hunter should serve as a reminder of how dangerous the world we now live in has become. While all eyes are on the Titans, a threat can emerge from anywhere, and it is essential that we can all work together to prevent the next Titan Hunter.
Until next time,

Titan History: Na Kika & The "Skull Island Kraken"
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we bring a double-feature, covering two different Titans in a single entry due to lack of current information to warrant each Titan recieving its own individual entry. As such, we present the two tentacled terrors of the deep, Na Kika and the Skull Island Kraken.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A full-body sketch of Na Kika, courtesy of Drew E. Johnson)
Monarch Database File: Na Kika
Monarch Designation: Titanus Na Kika
Length: 898 feet
Weight: Unknown
Nature: Bio-Virulent
Behavioural Classification: Destroyer
-----
Prior to 2019, Na Kika was a Titan held within a great deal of secrecy, even to those within Monarch's ranks. The underwater outpost containing Na Kika was classified and excluded from the publicly available outpost network, and the Titan itself had not yet been given an official designation, only nicknamed "Kraken" by those who studied it.
The longest Titan on current record, Na Kika boasts an impressive arsenal of skills. Able to siphon the elemental energy of other Titans through the suction cups on its tentacles, Na Kika could quickly render an enemy helpless in its grasp. The Titan is also immensely intelligent, able to alter its state of being through disguising its own radiation signature. As the workers of its outpost discovered with horror, Na Kika was capable of playing dead.
Na Kika is also capable of changing its biological sex on a whim, going from male to female and vice versa. The Titan's strength is also notable, able to singlehandedly drag an entire Monarch outpost to the depths and devour ships with ease.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic rendition of Na Kika breaking free from netting used to trap her by ecoterrorists, circa. 2020)
In the ancient past, Na Kika had made contact with the Austronesian people of Kiribati, who came to worship the Titan as one of their gods. This worship continues even today, with their modern descendants continuing to worship Na Kika.
Throughout the world's oceans, Na Kika was at the center of a campaign of terror known to many cultures. A monstrous cephalopod sinking and devouring ships, feared by sailors for centuries. This fear continues to the modern day, though much smaller creatures than Na Kika seem to be the source.
In 2019, when Monster Zero awakened the other Titans, Na Kika responded to its calls by flatlining and appearing to those within the outpost that it had died. It is believed that, somehow, Na Kika's intelligence allowed it to figure out that the containment field around it only worked on living Titans, and played dead to be able to phase through. Once free, Na Kika wrapped her tentacles around the entire outpost and dragged it into the depths, killing all inside.
A year later, at the tail end of 2020, Na Kika found itself captured by ecoterrorists and held within an electrified net. Looking to exploit Na Kika for resources and Titan trafficking, Godzilla intervened and helped Na Kika free itself before destroying the rig being used to hold it captive. Na Kika retreated to the open seas, before later going dormant.
To date, no further activity from Na Kika beyon 2020 has been reported.

Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic depiction of the Skull Island Kraken, based on eyewitness accounts, circa. 1993)
Monarch Database File: Skull Island Kraken
Monarch Designation: Titanus Kraken
Height: Unknown
Weight: Unknown
Nature: Unknown
Behavioural Classification: Destroyer
-----
Unfortunately, most of what we can report on the mysterious Skull Island Kraken is fairly limited, as a Monarch presence had not been established on the island around the time the Titan was alive. As such, all we can really report on is the information that survivors of the 1993 Skull Island incident were willing to provide to members of the After Dark team who questioned them.
From what we've been able to gather, the Skull Island Kraken was a chimeric creature that dominated the waters surrounding Skull Island. It's larger tentacles were capable of dragging down ships, tearing apart helicopters and throwing fully-grown whales several hundred feet inland to the island. Smaller red tentacles delivered a powerful electrical shock that also packed a venomous punch. This venom would slowly cause humans to sicken before entering a critical state.
The Skull Island Kraken was known to be a cruel, vindictive and relentless Titan. According to some Iwi accounts, the Kraken had ravaged a coastal village of island natives that Kong had grown attached to, and according to the 1993 survivors, it would throw whales into the island in order to bait Kong into approaching the waters. During its battle with Kong, the Kraken endured multiple brutal hits but continued to rise up until Kong finally killed it.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic rendition of the Kraken battling Kong, both Titans having sustained damage, circa. 1993)
In 1993, the cryptid-hunting vessel Once Upon a Maritime came under attack from the Kraken, most of the crew being killed and the survivors washing ashore on Skull Island. A team composing of mercenaries and the survivors witnessed the Kraken throw a whale onto the island in order to draw Kong's attention.
Eventually, Kong was lured toward the waters when Annie (a stranded islander) and her beast companion Dog stole a pendant belonging to an island native that Kong had a friendship with. The Kraken immediately jumped to attack Kong, and the pair engaged in a long and brutal battle. The Kraken endured being hit in the face with a shipwreck and pummelled mercilessly by Kong, continuing to get back up no matter what.
Kong ultimately defeated and killed the Kraken by grabbing hold of its colossal body and tearing it in half using nothing but his own brute strength.
Almost 20 years later, in 2012, Monarch officially established a presence on Skull Island. To date, no Monarch search of Skull Island's waters has successfully turned up with the Kraken's remains.
-----
And there you go! The world of the Titans continues to fascinate and inspire intrigue, and peeling back the curtains to reveal further monsters that have gone below the radar for centuries is always a joy to us here on the After Dark team. We hope you enjoyed this Kraken double-feature.
Until next time,

Titan History: Behemoth
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, as we begin exhausting the list of Titans we can provide extensive information on, we look to a friendly-ish face who grew very popular very quickly; the defender of the Amazon, Behemoth.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: News footage of a pacified Behemoth leaving Rio following the ORCA's activation, circa. 2019)
Monarch Database File: Behemoth
Monarch Designation: Titanus Behemoth
Height: 354 feet
Weight: 90,000 tons
Nature: Bio-Seismic
Behavioural Classification: Protector
-----
Also known by the name Mapinguari (a South American cryptid believed to resemble a Bigfoot/ground sloth cross), Behemoth was considered by some of those studying him to be the most interesting of all the Titans. A Titan that looks as powerful as his name implies, Behemoth resembles a cross between a ground sloth and a mammoth, armed with an imposing set of tusks, dense fireproof fur coating and spines of metal-fortified granite running down his back.
Behemoth's presence breeds new life wherever he travels, forests grow and flourish in his wake and his waste can be converted into an extremely effective fertilizer that can strengthen the very Earth's immune system. When Monarch makes the claim that the Titans are vital in restoring the natural order and healing our world, Behemoth is often the poster child of the effect the Titans can have.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Footage captured of Behemoth using his tusks to ravage Rio de Janeiro, circa 2019)
While much of Behemoth's history is not known to us, it is noted that the Titan seems to share a rivalry with Amhuluk, the two having clashed many times before in the ancient past. Amhuluk and Behemoth's abilities appear to offset each other perfectly, preventing Behemoth from inadvertantly overwhelming the world with rainforests where rainforests shouldn't be.
Behemoth's awakening in 2019 during the Monster Zero crisis is notable, as his breach of containment was done so with the aid of Monarch operatives who sympathized with paleobiologist-turned-ecoterrorist Emma Russell. One member of Outpost 58, Mariko, had personally seen to the sabotage of the kill switch implemented within the outpost, preventing Monarch from being able to stop Behemoth's escape.
He went on a rampage through Rio de Janeiro shortly afterward, before being pacified by the ORCA activating in Boston. Behemoth was one of the few who had arrived to witness Godzilla's claim to Alpha status, and notably was the first Titan to arrive on the scene. Following this, Behemoth was noted as having regrown large swathes of the Amazon Rainforest, and the usefulness of his droppings was discovered not long after.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artisitic pinup of Behemoth in the Amazon, courtesy of Drew E. Johnson)
Toward the end of 2020, Behemoth had seemed to claim territory within the Amazon, but found himself locked in combat with Amhuluk. The opposing Titan managed to break off one of Behemoth's tusks and prepared to drown him in the river, but Godzilla's arrival and intervention stopped that from happening.
Behemoth quickly returned to a makeshift temple in the Amazon, crafted for him by the locals, which he seemed to be using as a resting place, and returned to dormancy not long after.
To date, no new activity from Behemoth since 2020 has been reported.
-----
And there you go! While Scylla and Tiamat appear to be the current subjects of most "Titan gossip" that goes on, Behemoth drew people's attention to him quite rapidly after his emergence and impact on the world was known. His fame grew to such an extent, that jokes among Monarch staff were often made about Behemoth and Kong having something akin to a friendship.
Until next time,

Titan History: Tiamat
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we find ourselves once more turning to the most recent Titan crisis, dedicating today's instalment of "Titan History" to a beast that has many people talking; the queen of the depths, Tiamat.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: An artistic piece depicting Tiamat on the mainland, created by former Outpost 53 operative Dope Pope)
Monarch Database File: Tiamat
Monarch Designation: Titanus Tiamat
Length: 847 feet
Weight: Unknown
Nature: Bio-Ultraviolet
Behavioural Classification: Destroyer
-----
Designated as "Titan 019" in Monarch's database, Tiamat was a colossal sea serpent, vibrant coloured scales and a bioluminescent frill granting her an almost hypnotising appearance as she cuts through the water. Those who studied her in Monarch Outpost 53 note her impressive ability to mimic the sounds of human voices. Though incapable of perfectly replicating speech, many of the outpost's staff recount being haunted by the sounds of her "Titansong".
The full extent of her abilities show Tiamat to be a true force of nature. She can blind opponents with a yellow phosphorus ink that manifests as a form of acidic breath, she possesses electrogenic cells that can manipulate electrical energy to such an extent that her storms can boil the ocean and generate steam trails that can be seen from space. Her underwater superiority rivals even that of Godzilla, able to generate maelstroms capable of dragging other Titans to the depths.
Prior to her final encounter with Godzilla, Tiamat was also shown to be capable of absorbing and generating massive amounts of energy through a natural radiation hotspot in the Arctic Circle, achieving an "evolved" state similar to what Godzilla would go on to gain for himself prior to engaging the Skar King and Shimo.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Speculative artistic rendition of how Tiamat and Godzilla's Hollow Earth brawl in 2020 would have looked like, courtesy of Drew E. Johnson)
As is the case with most Titans on record, little is known about what Tiamat may have been doing prior to her containment by Monarch and awakening in 2019. It is known that, at some stage, Tiamat claimed a subterranean lair within the Hollow Earth as her domain, killing its previous occupant (an apparent ancestor to Kong), as well as various other Titans that attempted to rob her of what was her's. Drone exploration into this lair revealed a Titan graveyard of those likely slain by Tiamat, a Titanus Jinshin-Mushi Prime scattered among the remains was of particular note to Monarch.
At some stage, Tiamat would temporarily vacate this lair and make her way to Stone Mountain, Georgia, where she would later be contained by Monarch for further study.
Tiamat was part of the Titan legion awakened by Monster Zero in 2019, later pacified by the ORCA. Like most, she was not present for Godzilla's claim as Alpha Titan. She returned soon after to the lair she had claimed. Toward the end of 2020, Godzilla entered the Hollow Earth and, while Monarch are uncertain of the exact details, presumably fought with Tiamat over possession of the lair. As Tiamat was later observed leaving the Hollow Earth in search of a new home, it is clear Godzilla had emerged victorious.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Drew E. Johnson's full-body sketch of Tiamat, part of a collection of drawing Titans he had been assigned to study)
Sometime before 2027, Tiamat would claim a natural radiation hotspot in the Arctic Circle, the largest known source on the planet, as her domain, resting within a particular glacier absorbing energy and building up her strength.
In 2027, while absorbing radiation to build his own strength for the coming conflict with the Skar King and Shimo, Godzilla hunted down Tiamat to her Arctic domain and attacked the glacier she was resting within to draw her out. Following a brief battle where both Titans seemed evenly matched, Godzilla fired a blast of atomic breath that tore through Tiamat's body and dismembered her. Godzilla then retreated into the glacier himself as Tiamat's remains floated to the surface.
-----
And there you go! Following news of her death, some in the public have expressed outcry over Godzilla's decision to kill her, noting that it seemed to break his pattern of only killing those who were an immediate threat to the balance of nature, and positing that Tiamat was simply keeping to herself and not being a threat.
While we cannot speculate how Godzilla truly thinks, what's done is ultimately done. Much as is the case with Scylla, this is all we can report on Tiamat unless either new findings come up or another of her species emerge.
Until next time,

Titan History: Scylla
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
While our inquiry into Janos Biotech continues, we return to the regularly scheduled "Titan History" series, where we break down all you need to know about the creatures we now share our world with. For today's communication, we look to the most recent Titan crisis and examine one of the casualties; the Lovecraftian scavenger, Scylla.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Scylla rampaging through Rome, prior to being confronted and executed by Godzilla, circa. 2027)
Monarch Database File: Scylla
Monarch Designation: Titanus Scylla
Height: 341 feet
Weight: 20,000 tons
Nature: Bio-Corrosive
Behavioural Classification: Destroyer
-----
A colossal cephalopod Titan that appears to have crawled out from the depths of the Cthulhu Mythos, Scylla is among one of Monarch's more recent discoveries, noted as 'Titan 024' in our database. Her discovery was recent enough that, during the construction of Monarch Outpost 55, a proper containment field for Scylla was unable to be constructed. Some of the outpost's operatives erroneously believed she was dead when they found her dormant in Arizona.
Scylla is known to us as a Titan scavenger, able to break down the carcasses of deceased Titans and convert the nutrients into a lethal waterborne bacteria. This ability led to the implementation of new protocols for Monarch's pathology teams when cleaning and disposing of Titan remains. She can also emit an incredibly dense fog-like pollutant, which she uses to feed on radiation sources or cover her while she evades an attacker, and can emit liquid nitrogen from her body. The latter ability in particular has been cited for cooling down the Antarctic ice and stabilizing global sea levels.
Scylla is also surprisingly intelligent, able to take the wreckages of ships and craft them into temporary shells for her body, and is remarkably agile in her movements, enabling her to take on opponents such as Godzilla with ease.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: The Moai statues of Easter Island. It is believed by Monarch these were built by the Rapa Nui people to ward off Titans like Scylla)
Like with most Titans, not much is known about Scylla's activities prior to 2019 outside of what mythological records allow. It is known that, at some point, Scylla made landfall on Easter Island. Feared by the Rapa Nui people, they erected the Moai status as megalithic scarecrows to deter her, and presumably other Titans as well.
When Scylla was awakened by Monster Zero in 2019, she erupted from beneath Monarch Outpost 55 and made her way to Arizona's capital Phoenix, where she rampaged through the city. She was pacified by the ORCA device's activation in Boston, and was among the few Titans present to witness Godzilla become the new Alpha, bowing down to him as he roared into the sky.
Between this and her next known sighting, Scylla enjoyed a deal of popularity among humanity once Monarch's record of her went public, even becoming a trending topic on social media platform Twitter once her Greek origins were confirmed.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic rendition of Scylla engaging the United States Coast Guard and Godzilla over possession of a nuclear warhead, circa. 2020)
Around the end of 2020, Scylla appeared off the coast of Savannah, Georgia in search of food. Her hunger led her to a discarded nuclear warhead, which she fought with the US Coast Guard for possession of. Godzilla arrived shortly after and successfully drove Scylla away after a short brawl. She then made her way to a frozen lake at the tip of South America, claiming it as her new territory. Like with all other Titans, Scylla then returned to dormancy, seemingly under Godzilla's instruction.
She did not stay dormant, however. In 2027, Scylla was lured to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in India by a reactor beacon created by Skull Island trophy hunter Raymond Martin, who (as Monarch later discovered) wanted to use her to occupy Godzilla's attention so he could proceed with his plans for Hollow Earth. After feeding on the radiation there, she would travel to other locations around the world and feed there, Godzilla always one step behind her.
Scylla attacked the United Kingdom Nuclear Labs in Preston and the Aviano Air Base in Italy, feasting off whatever she could find. Her ravenous feeding had caused her to cease cooling the planet's oceans, and Monarch instead found that she was heating the areas she attacked, causing damage to the ozone layer. After an attempted trap by Monarch failed, she was finally cornered by Godzilla in Rome and killed by a point-blank blast of his atomic breath following a short skirmish.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: An X-Ray scan of Scylla, part of a compiled bioacoustic database Monarch has on all Titans, circa. 2019)
-----
And there you go! While Scylla's passing means we may not be able to learn more about her, unless new data is found or another of her species emerge in the future, we do take some pride in knowing some people out there came to embrace Scylla, rather than fear her as most would.
Until next time,

Monarch Emergency Inquiry: Janos Biotech
File marked "HIGH PRIORITY" - All Potential Assistance Required
We apologise for the diversion from our "Titan History" series, though we bring a rather concerning matter to the public front in the hope that multiple groups and persons can band together to find the most efficient solution possible.
While most are well aware of Apex Cybernetics and their doomed superweapon Mechagodzilla, they are far from the only organisation out there in the world attempting to meddle with natural powers they are hopeless to understand. An investigation by Monarch is currently being launched into the bioengineering company Janos Biotech, though our current records on them are extremely limited.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic rendition of a Snarehunter Valkyrie, one of many superspecies involved with the 2015 Skull Island incident)
From what we know currently, Janos Biotech hired a group of mercenaries to accompany a scientific research team out to the waters surrounding Skull Island in or before 2015. Once there, they hijacked a large vessel known as the Compass Rose, and converted it into their base of operations on Skull Island.
They conducted several biological experiments on the megafauna of the island, with known test subjects including Death Jackals, Sker Buffalo and Shocker Squids. At some stage, the Janos scientists created a fungal-based bioweapon capable of spreading and infecting a range of wildlife, threatening the ecological stability of the island. Through as-yet undetermined means, this bioweapon managed to make its way onto the island itself and infected multiple colonies of Snarehunters, a native species of giant ant that vocalise like birds.
Once news of the Compass Rose reached Monarch, a team was deployed aboard the Monarch vessel Dauntless, tasked with securing the Compass Rose and uncovering Janos Biotech's experiments. After being attacked by Shocker Squids, the team made its way to the island and hooked up with the Monarch team stationed on the island, led by Houston and Aaron Brooks.
Monarch worked to create a chemical counteragent to the bioweapon before the infected Snarehunter Queen could have the chance to infect Kong. Thankfully, a cure was successfully created and administered to the Snarehunters before it could cause further damage to the island, though the Queen was killed in battle with Kong.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Blueprints for the layout of the Compass Rose, recovered by Monarch during their investigation, circa. 2015)
To date, we have no other record of activity from Janos Biotech before or since this incident, and as far as we are currently concerned, the organisation is still at large.
We at Monarch ask for any and all assistance in uncovering more about Janos Biotech, so they can be suitably prevented from causing further damage to the ecosystems and wildlife of our world, and the Hollow Earth beyond.
Be on the lookout for potential signs of suspicious activity; mysterious people transporting materials, signs of wildlife infected by an unclassified fungus, or any vehicles with the Janos Biotech logo present on them.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: The current Janos Biotech company logo, circa. 2015)
Once again, we appreciate any and all assistance from civilians or other operational authorities in uncovering more about Janos Biotech, for the protection of our world.
Thank you, and until next time,

Titan History: Amhuluk
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
Before we begin with today's communication, we here on the After Dark team would like to take a second to thank all those who have chosen to engage with this blog so far. This blog was started to ensure better relations between Monarch and the public by being fully transparent and unbiased in the information released, and we appreciate everyone who chooses to engage, regardless of how brief.
Now, returning to business, we would like to present all we know on one of the oddest Titans currently in our bestiary; the florafauna colossus, Amhuluk.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A sketch of Amhuluk, courtesy of Monarch cryptobiologist Drew E. Johnson, circa. 2021)
Monarch Database File: Amhuluk
Monarch Designation: Titanus Amhuluk
Height: 379 feet
Weight: Unknown
Nature: Bio-Pathogenic
Behavioural Classification: Destroyer
-----
Currently the largest known instance of "florafauna" (animals that take on biological traits similar to plants), Amhuluk is an oddity that truly has to be seen to be believed. Its true form is a disembodied head and spine, the rest of its body a collected assembly of natural resources and plant material contorted and morphed to suit the Titan's needs, through the use of bio-telepathic neurotransmitters in its head. This ability grants Amhuluk incredible camouflage, and even the ability to fly (depending on the structure it chooses to form as its body).
Amhuluk's incredible capabilities don't stop there. The Titan possesses the ability to emit toxins capable of destroying entire rivers and oceanic channels, mustering its telepathic abilities as psychic beams fired from its tendrils into the brains of its enemies, and possesses immense strength, able to "throw" parts of its body at opponents by means of telekinesis.
Perhaps fortunately for humanity, Amhuluk is not invincible. Due to the plant-based composition of its body constructs, Amhuluk is susceptible to flame-based attacks. Its regenerative powers rely heavily on Amhuluk being around further plant material that it can use, and if its head is damaged sufficiently, it could destroy the body it has created. Monarch's Rick Stanton also discovered Amhuluk's vulnerability to sonic frequencies, personally recommending the use of Van Halen's "You Really Got Me" when engaging Amhuluk.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic depiction of Amhuluk engaging Titanus Behemoth, prior to Godzilla's intervention, circa. 2020)
Little is known about Amhuluk's history prior to his awakening during the Monster Zero crisis, other than that he was known through ancient myth as a bringer of pestilence, disease and death. He was contained within Monarch Outpost 66, at the Manpupuner Rock Formations in Russia. Like most Titans, Amhuluk failed to reach Boston in time to witness Monster Zero's demise and Godzilla's claim to Alpha status.
Roughly around the end of 2020, Amhuluk travelled to the Amazon Rainforest, where he battled against fellow Titan Behemoth, the latest in an apparent history of grudge matches between the two. Amhuluk succeeded in breaking one of Behemoth's tusks, emerging victorious over the Titan and preparing to drown him in the river. Godzilla arrived shortly after, forcing Amhuluk away from Behemoth. The Titan recognised Godzilla's authority and backed off without further conflict.
Shortly afterward, Amhuluk returned to dormancy, seemingly under Godzilla's instruction. There have been no further incidents involving Amhuluk, though in the years since he awakened, merchandise such as statues were created of him, and other Titans such as Godzilla.
-----
And there we have it! We apologise for this communication being shorter than our other "Titan History" installments, though with our intel on Amhuluk being somewhat limited for now, we can only provide what we have. Should Amhuluk appear to stir trouble once again, Monarch will be there, and we will tell you all we can about it.
Until next time,

Titan History: Jinshin-Mushi
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, we return ourselves once again toward the events of G-Day and the Titans that began the chain of events that led to Monarch's exposure; the Dragon Beetle and its spawn, Jinshin-Mushi.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: News footage of the Jinshin-Mushi Queen attacking New Jersey during the Mass Awakening crisis, circa. 2019
Monarch Database File: Jinshin-Mushi
Monarch Designation: Titanus Jinshin-Mushi
Height: 350 feet (Prime), 281 feet (Male), 298 feet (Female), 370 feet (Queen)
Weight: 135,000 tons (Prime), 15,000 tons (Male), 60,000 tons (Female), 110,000 tons (Queen)
Nature: Bio-Terrestrial (Prime), Bio-Atomic (Male and Female, presumably Queen as well)
Behavioural Classification: Destroyers
-----
To the majority of the public, these Titans are still referred to with the previous designation for superspecies discovered by Monarch, M.U.T.O (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism). Even within Monarch itself, few seem to refer to the Jinshin-Mushis with their proper designation, the Prime being the sole exception.
Currently, the remains of both Jinshin-Mushi involved with G-Day, as well as the Prime, are being kept within Monarch's Castle Bravo facility for dissection and study.
Parasitic Titans with a history long intertwined with Godzilla's species, the Jinshin-Mushis were speculated by Monarch's former paleobiologist Emma Russell to have been responsible for several mass extinctions throughout Earth's history. During the 11th Century BC, the Jinshin-Mushi Prime had been documented by the Phoenicians bringing down a member of Godzilla's species (referred to as 'Dagon' or 'Raijin') and impregnated him with two spores.
These spores fed off the radiation-rich haemoglobin in Dagon's blood, ultimately killing the Titan once he was no longer able to replenish his atomic energy. For several centuries, Dagon and the spores lay within the Phillipines, seemingly lost to history.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: A Phoenician stone tablet presented to Emma Russell, depicting a battle between Dagon and the Prime, circa. 2014)
In 1999, Dagon's remains would be uncovered when a mining operation drilled into the site and caused a valley floor to collapse. One of the spores, catalysed by sudden exposure to the atmosphere, hatched and the larval male Jinshin-Mushi escaped to the ocean. Travelling a great distance to Japan, the male attacked a nuclear plant in Janjira before cocooning itself to feed off the radiation from the reactors. The second spore, later known to have contained the female, was determined to be dormant and was sent to a nuclear waste repository in Nevada.
15 years later, the male had finally finished feeding and hatched, disabling the containment facility around it with an EMP attack before taking flight. On its way to Honolulu, the male dredged up a Russian nuclear submarine and fed on the warheads it carried. After using its EMP to stop military jets from engaging it, the male continued to a nearby airport, where it was confronted by Godzilla.
The world watched in shock and horror as the two clashed, the male retreating soon after with Godzilla hot in pursuit. The truth of the existence of monsters was finally out in the open. Shortly afterward, the dormant spore in Nevada became active and the female Jinshin-Mushi emerged, already fully grown. She rampaged through Vegas before heading to California. With the threat growing, the military hatched a plan to kill both Jinshin-Mushis and Godzilla with a nuclear weapon.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: The male Jinshin-Mushi roaring at Godzilla when confronted in Honolulu, circa. 2014)
The female intercepted a military convoy transporting two nuclear warheads, devouring one of them and killing almost all the personnel transporting them. The remaining warhead was transported to San Francisco, though the male managed to obtain it and presented it to the female in an act of courtship.
From here, the events of G-Day are famously known. The female constructed a nest in the middle of the city and laid her eggs around the warhead so they could feed on the radiation. Godzilla arrived and confronted the two in a long and brutal fight, though he emerged victorious with some intervention from navy EOD specialist Ford Bordy. The male was killed after Godzilla smashed him into a skyscraper, and the female was decapitated when Godzilla fired an atomic blast down her throat.
Just a few months later, Godzilla fought the Jinshin-Mushi Prime across the globe. While the Prime emerged from a crater in Japan, their first battle took place in Guam, where the Prime fed on a nuclear sub before fending Godzilla off with a strike to the face. Their second, in the Barents Sea, ended similarly. Their third clash, at France's Athena II Nuclear Power Plant, ended with Godzilla heavily wounded, drawing concern that he may lose if the two Titans met again.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Monarch's Titan profile on the Jinshin-Mushi Prime, circa. 2014)
The Prime's final battle with Godzilla took place in a US site for decommissioned nuclear power cores, where the Prime used a sonic roar to shatter the dorsal plates on Godzilla's back, greatly weakening him. As the Prime prepared to plant new spores into Godzilla, it became temporarily distracted by Emma Russell's experimental sonar device ORCA. Taking advantage of the pause, Godzilla fired a nuclear pulse from his back that sent the Prime flying, before he finally killed it with a stomp to the head.
Five years later, during the mass Titan awakenings triggered by Monster Zero, a previously undiscovered Jinshin-Mushi caste, a Queen, emerged from underneath a strip mall in New Jersey and rampaged until it was pacified by the ORCA's activation. The Queen was among the Titans that converged to Boston following Monster Zero's demise.
-----
And, there you go! A rundown on the history behind Jinshin-Mushi, to G-Day and the years beyond. The Queen is currently the only surviving member of the species, with some speculating that she may mature into another Prime some day, provided she is not killed by Godzilla beforehand. Only time can tell on that, however.
Until next time,

Titan History: Kong
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
Apologies for the lack of communication in recent weeks, Monarch has been hard at work collecting data and collaborating with global governments through the most recent Titan crisis, including the disposal of deceased Titan remains and the best course of action to take with Godzilla in his new resting place.
That said, today's communication will be going over a Titan who has been surging in popularity across the globe over the past few years; the undisputed king of the Hollow Earth, Kong.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Kong approaching an Apex Cybernetics research facility on Skull Island, circa. 2017)
Monarch Database File: Kong
Monarch Designation: Titanus Kong
Height: 337 feet
Weight: Unknown
Nature: Unknown
Behavioural Classification: Protector
-----
Until recently, Kong was believed to be the last of his kind. Born during a climactic final battle between his parents and a horde of Skullcrawlers (ravenous amphibian predators on Skull Island), Kong grew up in an isolated world filled with danger at every angle. Growing up to become the guardian deity of Skull Island, Kong was held in great reverence by the native Iwi tribe that lived on the island. His species, designated Apus giganticus, were also known protectors of the Iwi, fighting off the Skullcrawlers and other threats until their last breath.
During his centuries on the island, Kong fought a variety of creatures, from the Mire Squad and Sirenjaws to other Titans such as the mysterious Kraken or night-bringer Camazotz. However, in 2021, a storm generated by Monster Zero fused with the perpetual storm surrounding Skull Island and plunged it into chaos. Three years later, in 2024, Kong was removed from the island as the key to a daring plan to uncover a Hollow Earth energy source to stop Godzilla. The two alpha Titans clashed twice before setting aside their differences to take down Apex Cybernetics' rogue superweapon, Mechagodzilla.
Currently, Kong now resides in the Hollow Earth alongside a newly-freed tribe of his speices, an orange ape-like Titan which he seems to have adopted as a son, and the ancient ice Titan Shimo.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Monarch officials reviewing recovered footage of Kong from the doomed 1973 expedition to Skull Island, circa. 2019)
While Kong's exact origins are unknown, research conducted within the Iwi settlement appears to place his birth somewhere in the 17th Century, making him perhaps the youngest Titan on record. However, his entangled history with Monarch began much later, in 1973.
In a time where Monarch was on its last legs and facing the possibility of being shut down, founding figure William Randa and geological advisor Houston Brooks lobbied to piggyback on a Landsat expedition to Skull Island. With a military escort courtesy of the Sky Devils squadron, the team dropped seismic charges on the island to map the bedrock beneath the surface. Unknown to them at the time, their charges awakened the Skullcrawlers living in thermal vents beneath the island and incurred Kong's wrath.
Kong swiftly destroyed the Sky Devils' helicopters, leaving the survivors split into two groups. One, including Brooks, encountered the Iwi and stranded WW2 pilot Hank Marlow, where they learned about Kong and his history with the Skullcrawlers. A second, including Randa, embarked on a mission of revenge driven by Colonel Preston Packard.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Kong battling the remnants of the Sky Devil squadron after being lured into a napalm trap, circa. 1973)
After being lured into a napalm trap by Packard, Kong was initially helpless to battle the recently awakened Skull Devil, the last of the adult Skullcrawlers that had a hand in wiping out his family centuries prior. Recovering quickly, the two beasts engaged in a brutal encounter. Following some assistance from the expedition survivors, Kong triumphed by tearing out the Skull Devil's innards, avenging his parents in the process.
His next major sighting occured in 1993, but without a Monarch presence on Skull Island at the time, this is pending investigation. According to witnesses, Kong did battle with a large underwater Titan (designated 'Kraken'), after being coaxed to the island's coast by Annie, a young girl stranded on the island for years with a strange dog-like beast as a companion. After exchanging many blows, Kong ultimately killed the Titan by tearing its body in half.
In 1995, Aaron Brooks (Houston's son) led an unauthorized expedition to Skull Island, as he felt unsatisfied with leaving protection against the Skullcrawlers to Kong alone. During their stay, mythographer Walter Riccio experienced vivid visions of Kong's origins, under the influence of an Iwi medicinal drink. When Riccio destroyed the wall to the Iwi village, Kong stepped in to vanquish the Mother Longlegs swarm that seized their chance and killed Riccio before communing with Aaron and the Iwi.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Artistic rendition of Kong tearing the "Kraken" Titan in two, based off eyewitness testimony, circa. 1993)
In the following decades, Kong was largely left to his own devices as the island's guardian. Though Monarch teams briefly assisted him in 2015 with a crisis involving the unknown organisation Janos Biotech and the island's Snarehunter population, and Kong himself kept a horde of Skullcrawlers that attempted to leave the island in response to Monster Zero's 'alpha call' in 2019, no major events really transpired between 1995 and 2021.
In 2021, as mentioned previously, Skull Island was plunged into chaos when one of Monster Zero's residual storms merged with the storm system surrounding Skull Island. When darkness fell, the bat Titan Camazotz emerged and battled Kong for dominion over the island. Thanks to a daring pilot triggering a sonic boom to disorient Camazotz, Kong was able to prevail, though he was ultimately unable to save his home.
Three years later, and the artificial habitat Monarch built for Kong was unable to hold him much longer. He was reluctantly taken to the sea and transported to Antarctica's Outpost 32 (now rebuilt as a Hollow Earth station), though not without attracting Godzilla, who destroyed the naval fleet transporting him and almost drowned the ape. Following the acquisition of an axe left in the Hollow Earth by his ancestors, Kong and Godzilla clashed again in Hong Kong. While Godzilla prevailed through sheer power, Kong refused to submit to his rule.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above: Kong leaping onto Godzilla's back from a building after staging an ambush, circa. 2024)
After being revived by an exploding H.E.A.V, Kong jumped in to stop Mechagodzilla from executing his organic counterpart. Setting aside their differences, the two Titans teamed up to take down the mecha. A blast from Godzilla's atomic breath charged up Kong's axe, and he was able to deal the finishing blow by hacking Mechagodzilla to pieces and holding its severed head in triumph. The two Titans regarded each other one more time before parting ways.
Which brings us to the present. While much of what transpired is still being compiled to our databanks, it is known that Kong returned to the surface on three different occassions. The first was to have an infected tooth removed at a Monarch facility, the second was in Egypt to coerce Godzilla into assisting him, and the third was a two-on-two battle in Brazil between Kong and Godzilla, and Shimo and the "Skar King", evil ruler of the Kong tribe in Hollow Earth.
-----
And there you go! An up-to-date account of Kong's history in the modern world, intertwined with Monarch from the 1970's. Currently, Kong is enjoying life down in the Hollow Earth, and as the world should do, this is where we leave Kong's story be, until the world needs him again.
Until next time,

Titan History: Godzilla
Welcome once again to Monarch: After Dark, the digital gateway between you and the organisation dedicated to understanding and navigating this troubled new world we live in.
For today's communication, it was decided by Monarch officials stationed at Castle Bravo (Outpost 54) that we should create an updated historical account on arguably the most recognisable and infamous of the Titans we currently know of; Godzilla.
Tumblr media

---------------
A member of an ancient reptilian species that was known to exist as early as the Permian period, Godzilla serves as a guardian of the natural order, rising from the depths whenever the balance of the world is threatened, be it by other Titans or by humanity. Newfound information has revealed that, at some point in their early history, the Titanus Gojira species waged war against a population of great apes within the Hollow Earth. The outcome was victory for the former, while the latter migrated to a surface landmass that would become Skull Island, where they would face near-extinction.
Throught the millenia, imagery of these Titans showed their defense of humanity against other Titans, including the seemingly extraterrestrial lifeform, "Monster Zero". These battles were documented well, immortialised in the form of cave paintings and tales passed down through the generations.

While much of the history surrounding the individual we know today as Godzilla is unknown, his modern history is far clearer. First discovered in 1954 by founding Monarch figures William Randa, Keiko Muira and Leland Shaw, the initial reaction to the Titan's existence was an attempt to kill it using a nuclear weapon. Covered up as the Castle Bravo nuclear test, it was believed that Godzilla had been killed until he resurfaced a year later in Hateruma Island.
His next widely documented appearance was the infamous G-Day in 2014. Tracking down a mating pair of Titanus Jinshin-Mushi (aka MUTOs), Godzilla battled and eventually killed them in San Francisco, though not without extensive damage done to the city and the Golden Gate Bridge beforehand. Months later, he battled with a Jinshin-Mushi Prime, which resulted in the Prime destroying his dorsal plates before she, too, was killed.
According to Keiko Muira, and her grandchildren Cate and Kentaro Randa, who were recovered on Skull Island in 2017 through an "in-between" realm linking the surface to the Hollow Earth, Godzilla responded to a Gamma Radiation Simulator abandoned in the 1960's and battled a large dragon-like creature before they were able to escape. Their account is currently under Monarch investigation.

In 2019, a mass Titan outbreak instigated by eco-terrorist Alan Jonah and Monarch paleobiologist Emma Russell called Godzilla to action once again. He first appeared in front of Castle Bravo, where he prepared to attack before the outpost lowered its weapons and calmed him down. He made way to Antarctica, where Monster Zero had recently been awakened. The two battled before the latter Titan retreated.
They clashed again off the coast of Isla de Mara, Mexico, where Godzilla succeeded in tearing off one of Monster Zero's heads. Before this battle could end, likely in Godzilla's favour, the military deployed an experimental superweapon called the Oxygen Destroyer, which severely weakened Godzilla and allowed Monster Zero to escape and regenerate its missing head before usurping control over Earth's Titans.
Their final battle took place in Boston following an evacuation of the city. Godzilla had support from an ally Titan known as Mothra to battle Monster Zero and its own ally, Rodan. The battle ravaged much of Boston, and culminated in Godzilla being dropped from the troposphere and Mothra being killed by a powerful blast from Monster Zero. With some assistance from Monarch and a final gift from Mothra, Godzilla achieved a heightened state of power and caused a thermonuclear explosion that destroyed Boston, and Monster Zero.
Following the battle, other Titans gathered around and bowed before Godzilla, accepting him as their new alpha. In the interim between this and the next major incident, Godzilla would travel the globe and keep other Titans, such as Scylla and Amhuluk, in check.

Following a period of minimal Titan activity, Godzilla suddenly surfaced in Pensacola, Florida and destroyed an Apex Cybernetics facility before returning to the depths. In response to this, a joint operation between Monarch and Apex went underway to use another Titan, Kong, to track down an energy source that would give humanity the edge over Godzilla before he could hurt more people.
Godzilla and Kong clashed twice. Their first battle took place in he Tasman Sea, where Godzilla intercepted a naval fleet transporting Kong to Antarctica. This encounter was short-lived, and only a last-ditch effort by ex-Monarch agent Nathan Lind prevented Kong from being killed. Their second brawl in Hong Kong placed Kong on better footing, armed with an axe he obtained within the Hollow Earth, though Godzilla still prevailed and nearly killed Kong.
However, deception from Apex allowed them to siphon the energy from the Hollow Earth into a secret anti-Titan weapon, Mechagodzilla. After losing control of the mecha, it went on a rampage and battled a weary Godzilla nearly to death before a resuscitated Kong intervened. Working together, the two Titans triumphed over Mechagodzilla and parted ways without further conflict.

Welcome to Monarch: After Dark
Tumblr media
[CIVILIAN CLEARANCE ACCEPTED]
Following recent incidents involving Titans in 2014, 2019 and 2024, our organisation has been brought into the public eye. Decades of mysteries and secrets are now public knowledge, and, with regard to these new and terrifying times, we have decided to create a platform through which we can communicate directly with the public.
Tumblr media
What is Monarch?
Despite our newfound public presence, we understand that there are still those out there who are unaware of our organisation and the true nature of our mission.
We are Monarch, a multinational cryptozoological organisation founded in 1946 by then-President Harry S. Truman. Our mission is the discovery, containment, and research of ancient megafauna known collectively as 'Titans', creatures worshipped as gods by ancient civilisations lost to time. In the undertaking of this mission, we hope to fully understand the Titans and the role they play in our world so that one day, humanity will once more be able to coexist with them.
Across the globe, we have several research outposts located in areas of mythological significance or areas where a Titan has been confirmed to be lying dormant. These outposts, heavily guarded by our military division G-Team, are designed so that research into the Titans can be conducted safely, with security measures put in place should a contained Titan awaken and attempt to escape.

Monarch: After Dark's Purpose
With the fundamentals of who we are, and what we do, out of the way, we will now go through the purpose of this particular platform.
'Monarch: After Dark', a title decided upon by a vote undertaken by Monarch staff, is intended to be a digital gateway between Monarch and the general public. Due to rising tensions with world governments concerning particular Titan incidents, there has been a wide circulation of disinformation and slander targeting our organisation and its members. This platform is intended to be an authentic and direct source for information concerning our operations and the Titans themselves.
This platform features a way of directly contacting Monarch with potential Titan sightings or signs of Titan activity. These reports will be sent directly to Outpost 54 so that they can be properly identified. Once a report has been authenticated, we will report our findings here so that whomever filed the report can be kept in the loop.
In advance, we apologise for potential errors with the platform's functionality and presentation. Rest assured, we are working on it.
Until next time,
Monarch: After Dark
