Henry couldnât really cook, and he didnât want cereal or toast, so with his parents and Tara resting after a sleepless night with the twins, Adaline out, and his grandparents unable to cook/use modern cooking methods, heâd decided to get breakfast at Grannyâs. Heâd just gotten there a little too early, but he figured Granny liked him, so it was okay to go in. âI know, but I thought it would be okay to grab my favourite booth now,â he explained to Ruby as he plopped down in the back booth. âI donât mind waiting, but uh...I donât think Iâd like coffee,â he offered crinkling his nose. âMaybe I could have hot cocoa or chocolate milk or orange juice instead?â
âGrannyâs is closed, weâll open in a bit.â She called out, working on making sure everything was set up for the day. Ruby put the dishtowel that sheâd been wiping the counter with over her shoulder and turned around to face whoever had entered. â I promise if you wait five minutes you can get your coffee.â

âYeah,â Henry nodded hoping the repetition meant that Emma was finally understanding, but nope, no such luck. She still didnât believe, not really. She didnât care either. After nearly a year in town, she still didnât care enough about anyone or anything to want to stay. Emma was just looking for yet another reason to run away, just like normal. Running was all sheâd ever done her entire life and even family couldnât make her want to stay.
âThe curse is broken yes, no one can leave town without re-losing their memories though, so theyâre still stuck here, but they know who they are now,â he explained feeling really sorry for Sneezy. Poor dwarf had the worst luck ever, and youâd think it would have been Dopey to draw the short straw. âYou kinda helped,â Henry pointed out before continuing. âI canât make you stay, thatâs something you have to decide for yourself, but you have a family here....parents, siblings, me. You have to figure out if weâre reason enough not to run away again,â Henry offered hoping that sheâd choose right. Hoping sheâd choose to stay.
Emma shook her head. âOkay.. Red riding hood. Snow white. Okay. Prince charming. â she repeated his words. They werenât making any sense, and now the evil queen saved the day and broke the dark curse? But how in the world did she do that? This was all a little too much for her but she didnât want to sound like she didnât believe Henry. He seemed upset about the fact that Emma didnât listen to him. But how could she? How could she believe in something so strange.
âSo youâre saying that.. there is no curse,so you donât need me here anymore? Right? Because you told me that I was here to break the curse. But Regina did it. So.. Iâm not the savior. And Iâm not needed here any longerâ maybe Henry was trying to tell her something. Maybe he started to see that he was happy with David and Regina and thatâs why he made up the broken curse. Emma could feel her heart break, but it seemed like that was what Henry wanted.Â

Henry laughed a little at Elsaâs joke, but he couldnât help feeling bad for her anyway. She and Anna had been so close in his book, it was hard to see them, well, hating each other, especially over Kristoff. In the other land Elsa seemed to like or at the very least tolerate Kristoff because he made Anna happy and of course it probably helped that he liked ice just as much as Elsa did.
The curse really had twisted everything all around hadnât it? Maybe someday Elsa and Anna would look back at this time apart and just laugh it out. âIâm sure you and Anna will work everything out in time,â he offered with an encouraging smile as he continued to eat his ice cream. âAfter all, youâre family.â
Icy Treats | Henry & Elsa
Elsa nodded slightly. It had been strange spending Christmas alone this year, usually she would have Anna over and they would have a dinner just for themselves and she would go on and on about something or the other. This year there was none of that.
âOh yeah, I got loads of video games too,â she grinned, timing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She thought it best to try and make light of the fact she had not received much but a card in the mail.

Henry nodded eagerly. He hadnât expected it, but he was really proud of her. âYeah, last night after the twins were born, we were all together to meet them and she was thanking dad for giving her, her happy ending and then they kissed and the curse broke,â he explained a grin stretching across his face from ear to ear. He was so happy to have a real family, to be a big brother, and to have everyone finally believing him about the curse.
âThe Dark Curse that I first told you about nearly a year ago when we met, the one Iâve been telling you about ever since that youâre too stubborn to believe in,â Henry replied. If she wasnât following, it was because sheâd never listened over the past year. What was more unhealthy, living with fairy tale characters or living with a âmotherâ who gave you up and ignores you now that sheâs back in your life? The later in his opinion. âMemories of their fairy tale lives, Mary Margaret as Snow White, dad as Prince Charming, August as Pinocchio, Ruby as Red Riding Hood, and so on,â the boy responded as he continued on towards home.
Emma shook her head. âRegina broke the curse? What curse? Henry. Please you have to stop throwing things at me like that Iâm not.. following. Iâm lost. People are doing strange stuff and I donât think this is a healthy environment for you. âÂ
Of course she couldnât stop her son. He never listened to her good advice, so the woman had no other choice to follow him. âMemories? Okay.. Iâll just come with you. But please explain.. âÂ

Homework and Hamburgers
Granny smirked and nodded ever so lightly at what she deemed a compliment. Regina was a good woman. There was certainly no shame in sounding like her. Giving Henryâs hand a light pat she looked over the rest of his work before redirecting the conversation. She snorted at the insult to her lasagna. It was common knowledge to her and Ruby that Regina despised it, thought her own was better. Granny had never had Reginaâs lasagna so she couldnât actually comment on the validity of the claim. âYour momâs got different standards than most folks,â Granny offered.
Davidâs meal of choice was no surprise. Now there was a man who wasnât afraid to eat something with grease or carbohydrates or calories. To anyone else it would be surprising that heâd ended up with such a health conscious woman, but not to her. Granny had watched that romance from the early days and always thought the two were good together, they balanced each other and accepted each othersâ faults. âNo surprise there, and youâll probably want the same,â she teased lightly before she left to make the call.
Once everything was all settled with David, she went back and checked over the last of Henryâs homework though she was sure Regina would do it again when he got home. After heâd packed his stuff away theyâd headed to the kitchen and made the meals up for the family. Henry felt a great sense of accomplishment when they were finish, and heâd probably feel even better when he saw his momâs surprise and appreciation later. Granny was proud of him too for stepping it up and how heâd handled himself so well in the kitchen. Sheâd certainly be willing to have him back in the kitchen again.

âOh, right!â Henry realized suddenly just how totally rude he muse seem to Sleeping Beauty and if she didnât have cursed memories she wouldnât know who he was. Not that having cursed memories would ensure sheâd know him anyone unless she had a cursed memory of meeting him.
âIâm sorry for my rudeness, Iâm just really curious,â he explained with a sheepish smile. Extending his hand across the table to her he grinned and offered, âIâm Henry Nolan, Regina and Davidâs son.â
