Apple music advert: 8/10/18

For our advert we managed to keep on track with our timing and managed to get most of our shots in an hour without any problems. We managed to get many different angles so we could use different cuts and transitions when editing. On the day we changed one thing which was changed was the Sylvia was listening to music instead of Bertie, in the first plan it was Bertie listening to music ad walking but we thought it would be more practical if Sylvia was listening to music. Our location was perfect for the purpose of the advert which worked very well. We would have wanted some more shots of Bertie walking so we could get a variety. 

My role was being direction, as a director i made sure that everyone was in the right place at the right time and everyone knew what to do. I made sure that the camera was in the correct position and that the camera operator pressed play at the right time. I made sure that the actors knew what they were doing and made sure there were no issues with any background noise or people walking in the way of the camera.

After everyone had handed in advertisements we showed them to the class for feedback. The feedback we received was more positive than we thought, as they thought it looked professional and liked the edits and transitions that we used. From our feedback we were told that to make it a bit better we could have added a voice over to go along with our advert.

Coca Cola:

Coca cola’s adverts are made to be about sharing and involve a story within it to make it memorable and have emotive. The recent coca cola advert involves two brothers, one which is older and one which is younger and it shows that even though they have a usual sibling hatred but they are always their for each other which is represented when the younger bother is drinking coca cola and some boys try and take it away but his older brother steps in and helps him.

Apple Music:

Apple Music make their adverts to draw the viewers attanetion in by including famous celebrities that they might know so it makes the celebrity and advert popular by the target audience. The most recent advert with a known celebrity in was James Corden. Most people know him as he has his own shoe and he has done a lot of work with humour which is included into the advert.

Music Video

Youth

The style of the music video for “Youth” is abstract as it uses different shots in different parts of a city with the lyrics of the song on different aspects in the shots. This music video shows different parts of a city, the meaning behind this song is about the 2017 Manchester bombings at Ariana Grandes concert. Shawn and khalid try and show that nothing can split apart any of us. They show the lyrics within the city landscape and objects in the scenes. the song has a lot of emotion in it and they show it through the lyrics presented in the music video. 

Eastside

The style of the music video for “Eastside” is a narrative. It shows a story of Benny Blanco’s childhood and how all of them have grown up. I starts off with Benny and he describes himself shortly, then his childhood crush, then Halsey described herself. They tell a story form when they were all younger and how they are doing now and what they are up to.

Biography

At age 14 Shawn Mendes was first discovered on the the app vine. He is a self taught acoustic guitar player. His main genre of music is pop. He was born August 8th 1998 in Toronto, Canada. Andrew Gertler discovered Shawn in January 2014, which led to signing Shawn onto Island Records. Which he eventually released his first single “life of the party” in June 2014. He is the youngest artist to ever have his own debut album at 25 in the Billboard hot 100 with also debuting one of his songs which reached number 24. Shawn also went on the antion wide tour with Austin Mahone.
