Some sketchbook doodle AU shenanigans, Skim Milk is not amused.
Tumblr media
Skim Milk has no idea where Vanilla Extract is getting all the pellets from. He just sits it out thinking “surely he’s gonna run out” but they just keep appearing and it’s starting to become a logistical nightmare. He KNOWS Extract isn’t picking them up because he can see them all still on the floor, and trying to write something but he can’t even get a letter in before there’s a little pellet hitting his head or tinking against his glasses.
Someone help him.

I propose my silly dork. Thank you raptor for reminding me to do this, btw.
Tumblr media
Finally getting around to do this! You remember that one old Tumblr trend where you had an original poster draw a character in a transparent background, and then more people would reblog to add their character in it as well and form a chain?
Well, I decided we're doing just that with our Shadow Milk/Pure Vanilla AUs! If you are someone with an AU that features PV/SM, feel free to add onto the image! It is transparent, so you can add them in any space!
I really look forward to seeing how it goes! :D

Hello guys, gals, and nonbinary pals!
It’s time for me to share my CRK AU, which was oh so nicely encouraged to be done by a few little peeps. [You know who you are…]
Ahem, here we go!
Summary
The Mirrored Destinies AU is basically a swap between the 5 ancients and their respective beasts. Shadow Milk swaps roles with Pure Vanilla, and so on! This influences everyone’s personalities to be tweaked for obvious reasons, and for silly new dynamics.
Deceit & Truth
Pure Vanilla Cookie is now the Beast of Deceit. This brings along a name change, and he becomes Vanilla Extract Cookie!
- Vanilla Extract follows an “ignorance is bliss” philosophy. This means that he conceals the truth and twists it to be more “appealing”. He covers up whatever bad deeds his friends do and passes the harder ones as good deeds that were “probably deserved”. This lack of concrete knowledge allows him to manipulate cookies in his favor, as they don’t have the information to allow them to break out of his lies.
- He uses his magic to apply pressure and fog up other cookies’ minds, giving him an opening to sow his own truth. He may not be a complete puppeteer like canonical Shadow Milk, but he still uses others to do his dirty work by whispering sweet lies to them.
- He’s more calm, but still relatively snarky and keen to stand his ground if someone tries to go against him. Vanilla Extract also has a superiority complex, perceiving himself as the master of knowledge and believes that he knows what’s “right” for everyone.
- Vanilla Extract’s greatest ally is this AU’s White Lily Cookie, as the virtue of silence tends to go hand in hand with keeping the truth hidden.
Here’s what the old man looks like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In turn, Shadow Milk Cookie is now the holder of the light of truth! This too carries along a name change, making him Skim Milk Cookie.
- Skim Milk is the embodiment of the phrase “curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.” He always seeks out the truth of a situation, even if it may result in upsetting knowledge. He also frequently gives constructive criticism to other cookies, in attempts to make them aware of their faults and where they can get better. This is usually prefaced with a “Can I be honest with you?”
- Like the canonical Pure Vanilla, he is adept in healing magic. Unlike him though, Skim Milk is more willing to use force when necessary. Of course, if a situation can be resolved without escalation he will take it, and frequently tries to deescalate if he sees things getting antsy. He also uses the knowledge he has to write poems, songs, and other such creative things in order to bring awareness to issues or progress of things that people should support.
- He’s pretty high-energy, and is almost always moving or thinking. This means he has a tendency for tapping his hands on items. Personality-wise, it means he is actually relatively optimistic! He always believes things will be better, and that every issue can be worked out in the end. He does also have some sass to him though, but he does his best to keep it at a minimum.
Here’s how the dork looks like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their Dynamic
The relationship between them sparked when Vanilla Extract Cookie wriggled out of the silver tree, fully solidifying the connection between the two, even after resealing. They share a mutual hate for each other, as Skim Milk despises how his counterpart keeps waving away the truth in favor of lies, and Vanilla Extract despises how many questions the poet constantly asks him. Vanilla Extract tries to get him to use his writing capabilities to sow in distrust and discord between other cookies whenever the two interact, but Skim Milk always fights back. In return, he constantly tries to interrogate the beast for information about the past and his own life, which pisses him off frequently as he insists that the information doesn’t concern the hero. It’s a constant tug of war between the two…

Waited very patiently for this like a regular human being yup mhm. Leftovers of this will be left in the fridge. Thanks for the dinner!!
The main premise and events in the Intertwined Opposites AU
It's finally here!!!
I've managed to finally make a proper info post for my personal take on this silly possession AU craze as I've planned to do for a while since I'm totally normal about this concept (lie) /silly
Before proceeding, keep in mind that this post is gonna be pretty long as I'll be diving into important story events troughout the first half of it, so it gets the read more treatment as usual!!
There will be no crk spoilers here (except for the beast-yeast episodes), just a ""prolouge" to current narrative events in the AU
•The beginning•
Everything starts in beast-yeast, once peace has been returned to the fairie kingdom
Now that the area is mostly free from danger with the silver tree's seal being properly mended, the crowd decides to start repairs and preparations to further celebrate everyone's victory for the remainder of the day.
However, as everyone starts to leave the area, something starts creeping out from the shadows created by the tree's roots
Tumblr media
Turns out that Shadow Milk, now severely weakened from the blow taken in battle, has managed to flee from being forced back into his prison once more.
During Lily's blast of magic, he essentially "split" and discarded part of his own power as a last resort, separating what was already being sucked into the renewed seal from himself to avoid getting dragged into containment once more.
Unfortunately for the beast, both his panicked and sloppy procedure combined with the added strenght of the new guardian's spell left Shadow Milk with a very poor amount of strenght, with it not being enough for anything useful.
Tumblr media
Needless to say, his mind is filled with hatred and anger as soon as he emerges,
he can't really do much with this state, and thus lingers on formulating a plan to get what he wanted from the start, but how?
How would he get back on track, rid himself of the guardian, and break the seal once more like this?
The answer eventually comes to him, just right on top of a bridge alongside the one who restored his prison.
Tumblr media
His souljam, the one he was once the owner of
Now "purified" and held by Pure Vanilla, it binds the two together with the virtue of knowledge, split in the lights of truth and deciet during the purification process.
These lights are owned by the beast, and the figure by the bridge in front of him, yet come from the same thing.
Shadow Milk has finally decided on a proper plan.
◆ What comes after and what it leads to ◆
Days pass, turning into a few weeks and ending with a trip back home to take a break and write down what happened during the beast-yeast expedition.
Everything seems to have gone well in the end, yet something still feels..wrong?
It's not the best term for it, but does the job well enough.
The vanilla kingdom is peaceful, and Pure Vanilla's return safe and sound brings back some joy to the citizens.
Yet it just doesn't feel right, he doesn't know what precisely, but the ancient is riddled with an odd feeling almost like being watched.
He might not realize it for now, but he had been right. Someone has been following him inside the castle for the entire duration of the trip.
Pure Vanilla slowly grows more wary as days pass, and his doubt are confirmed as Shadow Milk's idea is proven successful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the void Pure Vanilla is confronted by Shadow Milk cookie, he spills everything he's done without esitating twice, as there's no reason to hide it anymore.
Shadow Milk had always been there ever since the re-sealing of the tree, following Pure Vanilla and draining magic at a slow enough rate to not be noticed, until it was enough to take over his body without trouble.
Now that he had a "vessel" to work with, he could keep recharging power and be finally able to do his bidding.
He's questioned multiple times by Pure Vanilla, but he wouldn't budge, and the ancient manages to gather only their location and a few loose details.
This was not a void, this was a ""mind space"" where he was bound to stay while shadow milk used his body as a disguise, and he could not use magic to fight back against the beast.
Being out of options, Pure Vanilla quickly tries to think over what to do, and lingers over the situation to come up with something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shadow Milk proposes an idea to Pure Vanilla, sharing the vessel that both are confined in, to be sure he doesn't get caught.
This is only to one condition: the ancient must work in favour of the beast under it's watchful sight at all times
The Ancient complies, and a deal is sealed.
It's not a loss nor a victory, only a beginning
◆The current situation◆
Now that the main prologue is set, what happens precisely to both?
So, Shadow Milk cookie is essentially ""possessing"" Pure Vanilla, but not completely.
The two switch up control of the ancient's body in certain times of the day and night, sometimes Pure Vanilla is granted the lead and when he's not needed Shadow Milk takes it. He's pretty much using the ancient as a puppet, a disguise and a tool for his own gain, assigning him certain tasks so that his plan will work as intended.
Tumblr media
Whenever one of them is not in control of their shared ""vessel"", they're send in the mindspace until the shift of control takes place and so on. Shadow milk never gives Pure Vanilla full "freedom" or personal space, having control of the shifts in lead and constantly keeping the ancient under watch trough mirrors and reflective surfaces (The only moments in which he's given alone time is when the beast is asleep in the mind space to retain magic).
The ancient, on the other hand, accepted Shadow Milk's offer right away without esitating, but for a much different reason.
Pure vanilla is trying to get the best out of his situation, and thus feels forced to go against his own morality to keep cookies safe and attempt to allarm them trough hints and hidden messages scattered in the kingdom.
Even if he doesn't like the means, what else could he do to keep everyone safe?
Here's some more info regarding the effects of sharing a vessel in two:
The difficulty of his situation causes him great stress and paranoia, which worsens as time goes on and Shadow Milk regains his powers bit by bit, making his actions more difficult to get away with unnoticed.
• Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk's connection by souljam makes sharing a body possible, otherwhise it would be fatal to most cookies (As they're not made to be vessels).
• The slit in the souljam is a shared element which hints at Shadow milk's presence in both, during control shifts it flickers in different shades of gray.
• Remaining on the topic, control shifts are not plesant in the slightest to both parties involved, being defined by acute physical pain on the area covered by the souljam. This is inflicted on the current cookie in charge of the vessel during the shift, fading away only when back in the mindspace.
•The two can see eachother and comunicate trough reflective surfaces, with them displaying the current entity in the mindspace instead of the one leading the vessel.
• Pure Vanilla's voice sounds somewhat overlapped or distorted when shadow milk is in charge of his body, he can't change this aspect unfortunately for him.
• Certain factors like hunger and thirst are shared between the two due to their predicament, they can sometimes be heard debate over what to eat and when during the day.
• Sleep in the traditional sense is the only factor distinct to the two instead of being shared, as it's strictly based on "individual energy" rather than "shared energy"

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

Dark enchantress, I love you, but this is a fight you won’t win 😭😭.
Do you know who you’re up against?
do you really think the beasts are gonna go down without a fight?
do you think shadow milk cookie would even fall for that in the first place???

Yeah it’s fanfic Saturday, I wrote a chapter one for the silly prologue thing I made the other day. Here you go for those interested…
Pure Vanilla Cookie woke up with a start, his heart pounding. Another nightmare, he thought. He listened to the soft song of one of the faerie kingdom’s many birds, bringing himself to the present moment, giving his spinning mind the time to ground itself as well. Tick… Tick… He listened to the ambient ticking of the clock. Just a nightmare. Nothing real, Pure Vanilla Cookie reminded himself.
Plenty of horrible dreams had visited him along his long life, but none quite so violent and rage-fueled as the ones that came after White Lily Cookie had sealed the Beast of Deceit right back into his prison. He knew this was no coincidence, but he had no solution... Pure Vanilla Cookie opened his eyes slightly, reaching toward his staff and sliding off his bed.
The Faeries had insisted on giving the party their own rooms, and Pure Vanilla Cookie had noticed the lilies they had decorated the room with, alongside a few other flowers. The room itself was quite spacious, a lavishly adorned shelf of books on the opposite side to silver cabinets which he had been told had extra clothes, would he need them during their stay. A mirror laid on the wall next to the cabinets, the rim had small little patterns carved around it. Patterns which the Faeries just loved to etch into many of the things they built.
There was a desk near one of the windows, holding a lamp and writing utensils. It was often a comfortably warm spot in the room, where Pure Vanilla Cookie often found himself sitting to watch the birds outside and drink tea whilst thinking about the council and his friends. His bed was adorned with soft cream colored fabrics, a splash of blue flowery patterns here or there among them. The bed sheets were white, stripes methodically sewn into it like chocolate drizzle. He was grateful for how comfortable the bed was, but despite his attempts it never granted him a fulfilling night’s rest.
He walked to the mirror, fixing his hair and getting dressed for the day in his typical attire, then folded his pajamas and fixed the bed. He moved soundlessly to the window, taking in the humbly peaceful sight of the Faerie Kingdom. Pure Vanilla Cookie was glad to have helped bring the calm and stop the chaos Shadow Milk Cookie had sewn right through it.
He frowned… he hadn’t really done all that much, did he? It was White Lily Cookie’s wise thinking that had actually resolved all this. He’d just gotten strung up and held hostage. Pure Vanilla Cookie held his hand up to his head, it’s too early to start thinking such thoughts. He should at least get something to fill his stomach for the time being. The ever-present feeling of being watched only grew stronger as he made his way to the door.
He walked out through the elegant silver halls, saying his hellos and good mornings to the stray Faerie here or there, reminding himself to be thankful of their hospitality. Pure Vanilla Cookie made his way to the cafe which he had been introduced to as soon as the party had decided they’d be staying here until word got back from the other members council. He noticed Gingerbrave and his friends already there, and it didn’t take long for them to notice him too.
“Pure Vanilla Cookie! Come here! You HAVE to try these jellies, they’re sooo good,” Gingerbrave shouted, before stuffing his face once more. Pure Vanilla Cookie couldn’t help but smile as he walked closer. He sat down on one of the metal chairs they had set on the outdoor tables, three little cookies talking to each other. “Gingerbrave, I think you should slow down…! We don’t want you to get sick,” mumbled Strawberry Cookie, watching her friend with a worried expression. Pure Vanilla Cookie let out a little laugh, “You’re enjoying your stay here by the looks of it.”
“Yes! The Faeries really know their stuff when it comes to the food,” Gingerbrave commented, between mouthfuls of food. Pure Vanilla Cookie observed what they were eating. An assortment of jellies, varying in size and color and a few little berries to accompany them. Wizard Cookie piped up, noticing Pure Vanilla Cookie’s interest, “They said these jellies were mixed with Honey, giving them their gold color. We’ve had a few before back at the feasts but I never got to see them for too long… ahem.” He then motioned to Gingerbrave, which was now lying on the table, face flat against the wood, lightly grumbling.
Strawberry Cookie had picked out a berry, and frowned at him. Pure Vanilla Cookie was glad the kids were having a better time than he was here. He himself picked up one of the smaller jellies, never having much of an appetite. “How have the Faeries been to you?” He questioned, before taking a few polite bites. “They’ve been really nice! One of them has taken it upon themselves to teach us some more stories, separate from the Beasts,” Strawberry Cookie told him, now patting her friend on the back as he visibly regretted his decision.
Wizard cookie lit up at the mention, nodding vigorously, “Oh yes! It’s very interesting to learn the history of the Faeries. They hold Elder Faerie Cookie and White Lily Cookie to very high regard in their stories.” Pure Vanilla Cookie chuckled, “I’m very happy to know that you’re all feeling as welcome as me.” The little group talked for a while longer, sharing laughs and stories here and there. Pure Vanilla Cookie then nodded to the young cookies, having eaten his awkwardly small fill, “Well, you should make sure Gingerbrave makes it home to his room without too much of an issue. I am in the mood to go feed the birds. Have a good day, you three!”
“Goodbye Pure Vanilla Cookie!” called Strawberry Cookie as he left, turning back to talk to Wizard Cookie. Pure Vanilla Cookie walked down the paths of the Faerie Kingdom, the ones he’d chosen to familiarize himself with. It was now, away from his friends, that he felt that glare boring into every part of his dough. He tried to ignore it but the thought always gnawed away in his mind.
Eventually he’d made his way to the little clearing he had found whilst walking through the kingdom, a calm little place where birds curiously flew to peck at the floor and pick up branches. Pure Vanilla Cookie sat down on the silky grass, carefully placing his staff on the ground next to him. “It’s a wonderful day… is it not?” he thought out loud, looking at his staff as if it’d respond. It just gave him a silent look before closing its eye and resting.
Pure Vanilla Cookie sat there, thinking to himself for a few moments before taking out the bag of seed he had brought with him and throwing some in an arc around him. He watches as a few yeast birds fly down curiously and begin pecking at the birdseed. These little birds were the main inhabitants of the Faerie Kingdom, a combination of the blue birds he was used to seeing back in his own kingdom and the yeast spores that wandered the forest. He watched them gladly, holding his hand out to let one land on it. Pure Vanilla Cookie held his hand there as one of the inquisitive younger ones landed on it, and he gave it a few little scratches.
Just as he watched the little bird fly off happily, he heard an all too familiar voice call out from within him, laced with pure fury “You fool.”
