We are happy to announce that our lighting design for Kokura Castle and the Periphery has been selected as Honorable Mention Award in the LIT Design Awards!
Kokura Castle stands as a symbol of Kitakyushu’s history. This area is full of high buildings, and lush trees, so we wanted to focus on creating mesmerizing closer views. The whole area is more than 2,000 square meters, we divided the area into three parts. Firstly, for Kokura Castle, it is surrounded by a moat, and we used this feature to reflect the castle on the surface of the water. Secondly, for the park of the castle, considering visitors’ flow, we put various height lightings. Lastly, for History Road, the white walls are emphasised to add elegance to the area.
You can check more details about our work on our official website, and here is the link to other LIT Lighting Design Award winners (2019 Honorable Mention). Thanks for LIT!

Kokura Castle and its surrounding are lit up beautifully now!
In 2017, Kokura Castle was selected to be lit up first in this area. The concept was "water mirror castle" and it is floating on water and looks dreamlike. Following the Castel, the light maintenance of the surrounding was finally completed this spring. Please enjoy the new vibe of Kokura Castle area.

Renewal Lighting Design for Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Fukuoka Tower
The new design emphasizes the tower’s triangular shape by repeating the V line of the tower top oblique cut. The front view shows the structural beauty and dynamism of the tower, the side view expresses a continuous gradation and they reminisce "waves" and "wind". These views realize Fukuoka Tower’s VI "the place where Fukuoka's sea and the sky meet". Please enjoy the new tower’s image that you’ve never experienced.

「Normally, these twenty lighting manufacturing companies are rivals. But, for this special event, they have come together to form a team. They share their knowledge and wisdom willingly, challenging themselves to create fabulous designs. We strive to make this an event which will last another 100 years. 」

New Lighting Design for Wakato Bridge
Wakato bridge was painted cadmium red and it represents energy, passion, and vocation. We decided to emphasize its color at night time as well, so our design concept was “burning red torches”.
The flames of torches have been sacred since ancient times. We prayed for the safeties of voyages in front of the flames, and the flames brightened daily life from darkness. From this idea, the flames represent “hope” as well. Also, the Olympic torch relays are reminiscent of connecting people to people, city to city, with fire.
The two main columns are regarded as two torches, the cables connecting the two torches create the elegant lines of the bridge and the hangers give a sense of depth to the entire landscape.
