[ RELAX ] receiver places their head in sender’s lap. // crime verse. @mercyprevaild

He pulled his dagger from the chest of the now limp body, blood splattering across his dark attire. A scarred hand raised to wipe the blood from his face, though that only smeared it more over his skin. A cold gaze cut at the two men ahead of him, who were quick to back away, setting down the brief case that they were all here for. It was nothing too serious, just owed money. But he was not going to let them get away so easily.
Like the man he had just killed, the other two were left with slit throats and pierced hearts, a mess of blood staining the light wood floor. Dark blue lights emphasized the fresh blood on floor and walls. To the grunts standing nearby, Beta raised a hand in gesture for them to take care of the mess. It wasn’t until he cleaned the blood from his weapons that he realized how exhausted he was. It had been a long day, tracking the scammers into one of their own clubs. The following days, he hadn’t rested much, too absorbed in his work to find the time to.
Beta took the briefcase, which was miraculously vacant of any blood, and stepped past the grunts that had begun to clean the bloodshed. He practically trudged his way to the upper level were Rick’s office was, opening and slamming the doors as soon as he made his way to the room. The briefcase was set on his superior’s desk.
“They didn’t have the guns. The money is all there,” Beta mumbled out, not bothering to hide the exhaustion in his voice. He was at a point that he felt less secretive about his fatigue, though only behind closed doors when it was only him and Rick.
He shifted away from the desk, staggering over to the couch to lay down. A groan of agitation left him as he reached down to unbuckle the belt that held his daggers, realizing he had laid on top of them. He dropped the weapons to the side and moved to slip his coat off, eyes slipping closed as soon as he could relax. It wasn’t until he heard the click of heels against the floor, Rick moving from his desk to the couch where Beta was. The brute rolled from his side to his back to look up at the smaller man, ferocity in his hazel eyes was long gone, now replaced with a tired look.
Beta shifted slightly to make room for Rick, grumbling as he raised a hand for him. When Rick sat down, the giant shifted upward slightly, hand clasping around the other’s as he laid his head on his lover’s lap.
His eye stung slightly, and that was when he remembered he was almost drenched in blood from the men he had taken care of. Another grunt left him, “I killed them all. They will not be a problem anymore,” Beta assured as he leaned his head lightly against Rick from where he laid.

He’s just sat down at his desk with a freshly topped off glass of whiskey when the door to his office flies open. Had it been anyone else walking through the door, and not the lumbering bloody mess of his lover, Rick would have laid into them with all the fury of a mad man. But there’s no anger, when he looks over the brute, only concern and confusion to find him splattered with blood on his return.
His bewildered gaze drops to the briefcase on his desk, lips parting to respond but all that comes out is a burst of breath. Wide blue eyes flicker up in time to watch Beta collapse on the couch, silently studying him as he gets comfortable and begins to relax. It’s quite obvious to him that something had gone wrong judging by all the blood, though Beta acts as if nothing had happened at all. He doesn’t want to jump to conclusions as to what had unfolded, but it’s plain as day that the men who were meant to deliver both the guns and the money were now dead, and that is a problem.
Frustration is already gnawing at him, he can feel the heat of it in his veins and the way his jaw locks. Those men were never meant to be harmed without just cause. The whole point of this was re-establishing trust with a long time associate. Murdering said associate’s delivery boys is hardly a way to strengthen an already rocky relationship. All he can hope is that Beta has good reason… or any reason at all.
Again, if this were anyone else, Rick would hardly be as calm as he is in that moment. But he’s always been patient with Beta, patient and delicate in a sense. Standing from his desk, he slowly approaches his lover and waits until he makes room before he takes a seat. He forces a half smile as the giant rests his head in his lap, naturally his hand gravitates towards the Beta’s hair. His brow lifts when Beta speaks and from that alone, his concern for the situation worsens. His lover has made a dire mistake for the first time in all of their professional relationship.
“Mm…” he hums low through his nose as he pets soothingly through long, auburn locks, avoiding the sticky blood as best as he could. Pursing his lips, he watches his lover, takes note of how tired he looks, how content he is to lie here, as if he had done nothing wrong. It almost pains him in that moment, frustrates him even more, but he doesn’t let it show just yet.
“Beta…” He starts gently. Breathing in deep, it helps him keep his composure in the face of this sudden costly mistake. Fingers thread through his hair again before he inquires about Beta’s severe decision, “Why exactly… did you kill them?”
