YAAAAAAS QUEEN !

Someone call 911 Zhenya killed me with her FS and and her flower crown and her smile in the kiss & cry and her flower crown and the little crown on Luna's head and did I mention her flower crown ???

I was so worried before the SP, because I knew it was the first big competition for Zhenya since she left Eteri and I really wanted her to success (I know she made the right call, leaving Eteri, but some people think it was a mistake and I want Zhenya to prove them wrong). I really loved the way she skated, she looked happy and fierce and sexy and I was so, so proud of her. This program is so fun. Of course I was devastated when she missed her comb jump (although my first thought was “I’m so glad she’s not injured”). But you know what ? She fought till the end, kept smiling, and even though you could see she was mad at herself, disappointed and she had tears in her eyes in the kiss & cry, she still looked like a warrior. She knew she had messed up, but you could clearly see she was still in competition mode and thinking “okay guys, this is not over, I will fight in the free skate and show the world what I’m worth”. You go girl, that’s the spirit !

Of course now I’m even more worried for the FS, but I try to remember that this is a transition from one coach/country/training club to another, and it takes time to adjust, but Zhenya is strong and I know she will keep surprising us in the future. This is not over.

I loved how Brian was supporting Zhenya. He didn’t really say much because he knew she was already beating herself up. You could see he was sorry for her and not mad at her. Remember how Eteri looks like when of of her skaters messes up ? She basically looks like she could kill someone. Of course Brian & Zhenya will talk about it later and they will work together to try to find ways to improve the program, but he knew the kiss & cry was not the place to reproach her. He was there for her, he was not trying to comfort her and I think this is exactly what she needed. I’m so glad she found a coach who respects her enough to let her feel what she needs to feel. 

And if you ever feel sad : Remember 👏 that 👏 Zhenya 👏 scored 👏 the 👏 highest 👏 PCS 👏 in 👏 the 👏 short 👏 program
