Boop Breakdown
Well, you did it. You booped. You booped all over your dashboard with reckless abandon, your finger gnashing away at the boop button, much like a lovely raccoon discovering a glorious half-eaten baked potato. A treasure was presented, and you knew you deserved it. You deserved to boop. Collectively, you booped 142,566,897 times. To repeat: one hundred forty-two million five hundred sixty-six thousand eight hundred ninety-seven boops were had on tumblr dot com the website and the app.
Specifically:
Normal boops: 119,204,929
Self boops: 12,645,652
Cat boops: 7,925,241
Super boops: 2,095,231
Mischievous, aka evil boops: 695,844
One particularly boopable Tumblr was booped a total of 874,212 times. To be so rich in boops is a blessing. The Tumblr that gave the most boops found it in their heart to bestow 127,073 boops upon those they found worthy.
Over 500,000 Tumblrs were booped and booped back in return. And for what? What would drive so many to boop? Does Tumblr yearn for the boop mines? Well, yes. And also the guts, the glory, the prestige, and, of course, the badges. Oh, how you worked for those badges:
Booper participants: 229,881
Booper enthusiasts:  85,548
Booper supers:  67,571
Hold your heads high, Tumblr. You booped until you couldn’t boop anymore. You created incredible fanart, invented a whole new genre of -sonas, and even created your own premium, high-end awards. It was noble, it was boop. We hope you boop yourself, and boop for boop. Boop, boop boop? Boop, boop. Boop boop boop, boop boop; Boop! Boop!
Boop,
Tumblr

🦀 *clack clack clack* 🦀
No one panic. The crabs are back. They're helping us launch TumblrMart on web today, and will be bringing TumblrMart to Android and iOS very soon. You're welcome.
What’s TumblrMart?
TumblrMart is your new storefront for gifting joy to your friends on Tumblr. We’re launching the mart with the ability to gift Ad-Free Browsing and this April Fools’ infamous “Summon Crab!” button, with more features to be added in the future.
You can now give someone the gift of:
24 hours’ worth of crustacean chaos ($2.99),
a month of Ad-Free Browsing ($4.99), or
a year of Ad-Free Browsing ($39.99).
You can include a little note with your present or even give anonymously—like the benevolent bestower you know you are.
How?
Find the blog you wish to gift, OR select it from the storefront during checkout.
You will see a small gift icon on their blog header. Click it.
A small menu will appear with potential prezzies. Choose one.
Enter your payment details, and hit “Pay now.”
The lucky user receives their present.
Celebrate. You just made someone’s dash more fun! Clack.

What else do you need to know?
TumblrMart is not the same thing as our Tumblr Shop…
You currently cannot buy items for yourself on TumblrMart. This is for gifting to other users only.
Gifted Ad-Free Browsing will begin automatically for the recipient, but users must activate their crabs by clicking or tapping the “Summon Crab!” button that will become visible to them at the top of their dashboard.
TumblrMart is available globally from today on web. A mobile release will launch soon, which means mobile users will, at long last, be able to join in with the crab infestation. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Anxious about online payment security? Check out this handy graph for total peace of mind. If you have questions, drop us a line on @wip or Support, or keep an eye out for more on @changes.

Attention! Incoming, over the next week! An upgrade for all your blogs that are using the default Tumblr theme!
Any blog that uses the “Tumblr Official” theme with its default settings and no advanced customization will switch to using our new blog view on web. Why?
Easier access to gifting, tipping, messaging, and all of the other wonderful things your blog allows.
Consistency! It’s a similar view and experience to our mobile apps.
New default URL! Instead of yourtumblrname.tumblr.com, folks will access your blog at tumblr.com/yourtumblrname.
This is optional and can be toggled off or on from your blog settings. No one who is using a custom theme will be affected by this update. But for those who are using the default, this is what the new view will look like:

FAQ
Why is this good? Why does this matter?
New and existing features such as gifting, tipping, and messaging will appear in the same spot across the board. This will make it easier for folks to navigate any blog and find what they’re looking for. Additionally, the newly-improved notes view means conversations happening around a post can be filtered, making them easier to use.
Does this mean you will eventually get rid of custom themes?
No! Being able to express yourself with the broadest array of possible options is an essential part of Tumblr. We’re proud of being one of the last places to allow custom HTML and CSS, allowing users to truly make their blog their own or select from a wide variety of pre-built themes. Again, no one who is using a custom theme will be affected by this update.
How do I enable the new default view if I’m using a custom theme?
Head to your blog settings on web and switch the “Custom theme” toggle off. Anyone navigating to your blog will now see the new blog view at tumblr.com/yourtumblrname. Your blog settings, ask button, archive, gifting, and blog-level tipping will live at the top of your new view, where your followers expect to find them. Anyone that navigates to your blog’s old view will be redirected here.

How do I use my Tumblr with a custom theme?
If you’d like to customize your blog, head to your blog settings on web and turn the “Enable custom theme” switch on. From there, you can “Edit theme” or “View website.” Your customized blog will now appear in the theme of your choice at yourtumblrname.tumblr.com. In addition, folks can also view your blog in the new default blog view at tumblr.com/yourtumblrname, with all its bells and whistles immediately accessible at the top—where followers expect them to be.
Questions? Please do consider reading this Help Center article, as you will likely find some answers to your questions there. If not, you can ask questions on @wip every Monday from 6 AM—6 PM EST or write to Support with a specific issue you’re having.

Hi, Tumblr. It’s Tumblr. We’re working on some things that we want to share with you.
AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.
Here are the important details:
We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner.
We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.
To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc.
Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
If you have concerns, please read through the Help Center doc linked above and contact us via Support if you still have questions.
