Sitting at the bar, Kaleb came to Seattle for this fresh start. To enjoy the new job he had going. He was in the process of getting his own place. Yard and everything so him and his dog Rocket can enjoy it. However the woman that broke his heart was now trying to get back into his life. She was leaving him texts, saying that she wanted Rocket. Sure the dog was a joint idea but he paid for the animal. He was close with the animal, and for the most part he didn’t care for his ex. She left him. His mind was going back and forth on what to do, and it showed in his face his frustration of the situation. After ordering a scotch, he looked aside and saw someone. “It’s nothing really, just stupid drama.” Kaleb announced

Marisol minded her own business, that was how she worked or thought it worked at bars. Completely engulfed in her own thought, she didn’t realize the man next to her was speaking for a second. To be honest she only caught the last line of what he said. She didn't even recall asking him a question but that all seemed rude to say. It seemed obvious though that he actually did want to vent about it, even though he was denying it, he was probably drunk. "Are you sure you don't want to talk about it? I'm a great listener" she offered, sipping her own drink. Maybe then she'd figure out what he was talking about.

“So my son decided to get out of bed before me and eat cookies and ice cream for breakfast. Guess I need to set traps in the kitchen.”

“You’ve got to give him a little credit for taking the opportunity when he saw it. He’s a smart boy, though who really doesn’t want to eat cookies and ice cream for breakfast. That sounds like a kids dream.”

“Why’s that?” Savannah questioned, one corner of her lips twitching up into a smirk. “Too much of a statement sleeve?” In all honestly, Savannah knew tattoos weren’t for everyone, let alone large ones that were visible at all times. Too much commitment. But as far as Savannah was concerned, they were just part of her journey. “Who said I wanted to improve my closet in the first place?” she asked, tone joking enough to not come across too serious. “Let me live my dark colored life. What am I gonna do, buy a shit ton of pastel clothing and look like a unicorn next time I dye my hair?”
Tumblr media
Marisol rolled her eyes at her little joke. “You could say that.” she joked. “I don’t actually know what I would get if I ever were to get a tattoo, honestly I just can’t gel with the idea of permanent marking.” she shrugged. Marisol snorted, the brunette laughed as she said she should let her live in a dark colored life. “Everyone wants to improve their closet, but no one says it. Well if you look like a unicorn then you’ll get all the attention for being a magical and mystical creature right, who doesn’t want that?”

Abby bit her lip. Well, she was swamped with a lot of things lately, and she had been feeling at times, but she never put it as “stressed”. Abby smiled sheepishly and said, “Well, to be honest, I am sorts busy with a lot of things. Maybe I can just take a day or two off just to unwind a bit…”
Tumblr media
Marisol nodded, she was a college student it made sense she was stressed, especially since the girl still wasn’t exactly sure what she’d be doing after graduation. She smiled, “do you ever take ‘me’ days? You’d be surprised how helpful those can be.”

“Well, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference,” Casey admitted honestly. “From the way I saw it, you work like you’ve been doing it for ages,” she complimented. “The kind of command you have on it… I don’t know, it’s just– it’s like experience and talent all in one. Natural, meant-to-be-doing-this-esque.” She shrugged, unsure where she was going with her words.
“Backstage? You hang around backstage too? Gosh, you must get exhausted. Does no one help you with this? Like an assistant or a co-worker or something?”
Tumblr media
“Great, I’m glad it looks like I know what I’m doing, can’t get more clients if I’m a mess, now can I.” She joked. “In all seriousness though, thank you, I don’t think I”ve received such appraisal on my career before.” Marisol nodded, she grinned slightly. “meant-to-be-doing-this-esque? I can honestly say, I’ve never heard that one before.”
Marisol shrugged, “I mean I don’t have to but I prefer to. It actually makes me a bit calmer being able to see how things work. Huh, I’ve never really thought about having an assistant.”

beau-alex:
Beau laughed, pulling out his phone to show her something from over a year ago now. An article online, pictures of him with multiple women, clearly sex workers, and a headline clarifying exactly what Beau, the son of a presidential candidate, was going to do with those women. “I had a brief time of fame like that. Ted Cruz hired people to follow me around. It was worth it, and I didn’t even get paid for it.”
Tumblr media
Taking the phone from him, her eyebrows raised, scanning through the article and pictures. “Wow, and how does it feel to have that kind of power? Seems like something that could easily get to someones head.” Then again he was the son of a politician, if that actually changed things. “You should go and collect.”

“Well, I was aiming for the Seattle Times.” She laughed, an awkward sound to fill the silence. “Their pay is decent and maybe I could gain a fan club with all the ninety year olds who read their weeklies.” Katrina wasn’t married to the idea, but it had been brought up when she was typing up her last project at the cafe the other day; a trip to the news office had determined that they were very much not interested– and it seemed that rejection had made her want it more. “There’s so many New Yorkers here, I love it. It makes me feel a little more at home.”
Tumblr media
Marisol wasn’t sure how to console her, the Seattle Times was a good goal, even she could see that, so she settle for an apologetic smile. “Maybe something better will come along” she offered, hopefully. Though what could be better? Maybe something better paying. It obviously was a topic she couldn’t help with, newspapers weren’t her go to and she had yet to even touch the Seattle Times as of yet. Marisol laughed, “I’ve only met two other, it’s great but I wonder how we all got to the other side of the nation.”

“If people will buy it, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t make it. I wish I was that famous,” he said with a nod to himself. “People do know better and people are ahead of the trends. That’s how trends work. They don’t exist unless someone makes them.”
Tumblr media
Marisol raised her eyebrow, “would you though? I mean, the amount of people who are constantly watching your move and judging every single thing you do.” It wasn’t something Marisol enjoyed, though attention was nothing new to her. “At a point but past trends are coming back, which isn’t really person led.”

caseyxjames:
Shopping for the month? Casey forgot people did that. It’s been so long. Her own mother did that. She could recall all the times strangers upon strangers would enter their home and essentially set up camp in their living room with racks upon racks of clothes (and shoes and handbags). It was a nightmare. And just the most ridiculous thing if she was being honest. She would spend most of her day in her room when this would happen.
Casey nodded, mentally trying to push away memories of her past while trying to seem focused on the conversation. “B– Bridal Week? Yikes.” She chuckled nervously. She was what the kids referred to as ‘triggered’ when New York was mentioned. But she tried to look on the bright side and consider this practice for being ‘normal’ when people mentioned her hometown. New York? What’s a New York? The place with the Empire State Building, of course! Definitely not the city she was born in. Nor was it the city that was home to Hearst Towers, which is definitely a building she has never heard of before. Never, mhm.
“Well, you look like you’re doing a really great job,” Casey offered, an encouraging smile on her face. “I would have no idea where to begin with this. But I’m guessing this is your job, which is why you’re probably the kind of person to go to for something like this in the first place.” She felt like she said ‘job’ way too much in that sentence. She chuckled sheepishly. She came here to buy socks and here this woman was helping someone buy an entire wardrobe for the month.
“Do you ever get overwhelmed by it? Monthly wardrobe… Bridal Week? Seems like… a lot.”
Tumblr media
Casey wasn’t as surprised as Marisol was used to. Most people couldn’t grasp the concept of someone buying and changing their closet and basically their whole closet for the month, for most months. She never did blame their reactions, even she wasn’t used to someone changing their wardrobe each month. Her parents weren’t that focused on clothes.
“It’s a lot more entertaining than it sounds” she assured. “I mainly go to see the different kinds of Bridal dresses, they’re seemingly getting more and more extravagant each year.” Marisol mentioned. Still partly wondering how Casey wasn’t that surprised with it. Maybe she knew someone who did the same thing or had family or friends who worked in the clothing business. Who knew.
Marisol waved her hand, shyly, “how sweet, that’s great to hear. Thank you.” she grinned. “Training, lots of time spent around clothes and different kinds of people.” Marisol explained. “I’m new compared to many other people in the business and I have yet to style any big celebs but I’m making good money and I love what I do so it works out well. It doesn’t feel like a job more like I’m having a good time helping people shop.”
She blinked. She hadn’t really thought about it. It was definitely stressful at times. “New York, Paris, Milan Fashion Weeks can get very overwhelming. Being backstage to help can feel a bit chaotic at times.”

nathan-quinn:
“To each his own.” He gave a slight shrug. They clearly had opposing opinions but Nate wasn’t one to argue when it came to topics like this. “Oh, I’m not joking. I don’t care much for my life, no. We’re all pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Depressing but true.” Shocked to hear she wasn’t one for music, he was taken aback. “You just… You don’t like music or what?” It was coming off as dramatic but he couldn’t believe it, nor had he heard of someone not being a music person. Everyone loved music. “I like a lot of things. I feel like good ol’ classic rock is something I’d love forever. Music is so broad nowadays. Genres cross each other all the time.” Nate whisked the thought away. “Nevermind that thought, though. What’s your thing? So far I know you play it way too safe. You don’t even like music. You can’t possibly be fun.”
Tumblr media
Marisol nod, agreeing to disagree. She raised her eyebrows, he really didn’t care. She scoffed, not sure which one bother either of them more. The fact that he didn’t care for his life bothered her and apparently her lack of interest in music bothered him. “You might be less angry if you changed your way of thinking.” she suggested, she doubted he would but maybe he would... actually take it? Probably not. Marisol shrugged, “I just wasn’t really raised in a house where music was played a lot so I wasn’t really interested in it that much.” she explained. It wasn’t a big deal to her but obviously to him it was something else. Marisol shrugged, “again wouldn’t really know, but I can see how it would cross. Like, Taylor Swift going from country to pop or something.” she tried. The brunette rolled her eyes, “just ‘cause I don’t do music doesn’t mean I can’t be fun. Fashion is mainly my thing.”

❝ I mean, you’re not WRONG, there probably are some people out there who would lie straight to your face an’ say they absolutely l o v e d that shirt when they really don’t, but I’m not that kinda person. Try not to be, anyway. Not tryin’ to put that kind of negative karma out into the world, y’know? ❞ Alex shrugged, making the effort now to weave through the racks of the store to get a better look at the shirt he was suddenly ANALYZING.  ❝ Would I—? No. But I mean, I’m not really a statement sleeve kinda guy either. In respect t’my own personal style, it’s not a good fit. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t look STELLAR on her. ❞ He glanced over at the woman currently wearing the shirt that was being dissected and flashed her a grin.  ❝ If I was on the light rail and I saw you wearin’ that, I’d probably strike up a conversation with you, maybe even ask you on a DATE if y’were single. Confidence and eccentricity are a BOLD mix, but they’re also an incredible one. ❞ At that, Alex turned back to the brunette who’d asked him in the beginning. Her laugh was enough to inspire a GRIN from him and he gave a shrug. ❝ Maybe, but the nineties were mostly kinda just… GRUNGE, y’know? An’ don’t get me wrong, I own my fair share of FLANNEL and FADED TIE-DYE, but sometimes variety can be pretty rad. ❞
Tumblr media
“Well, that is good then, that you aren’t trying to lie just to please other people. I can’t say I always do that so, you’re already better than me. I suppose I don’t see it as karma, I don’t really believe in karma so I suppose that might be why.” Marisol stated, watching him as he came closer to them. She snorted lightly, “you could become a statement sleeve kind of guy, I’m not sure they really make that for guys but I could suggest it to fashion designers, why not let guys have the same chance at be as bold, you know.” Marisol was mostly joking, she didn’t really think many guys would actually buy statement sleeve shirts. She raised an eyebrow, as he started flirting with her client? It wasn’t exactly clear, to her if he was. “But 90′s style is making a quick and heavy comeback, they had or I suppose have variety in their own way.”

“I’m honestly struggling to get featured in a shitty column in the newspaper, so I should probably narrow my goals. No one even reads the newspaper and they don’t want me.” Kat sighed, her features skewing at the idea of writing a drugstore paperback romance. “It’s my grandmother’s pet name,” she explained, before brightening. “New York.”
Tumblr media
Marisol shook her head, “you just have to make them realize what they’re missing. I mean, people occasionally read the newspaper, you could try and get featured on a online paper. I’m sure it would work out for you. What kind of newspaper is it anyway?” she consoled. The brunette smiled, “that’s sweet. Oh, wow, New York is home for me too.” Marisol replied, her smile widening.

Savannah was about to protest and find arguments for the fact that tattoos totally did count. But, the question about the number of tattoos she had distracted her before she got to that and caused her eyes to roll up to the ceiling as she thought. Truth be told, she’d stopped counting a while ago. “Depends on how you count them, I guess? I’d say… six and a work-in-progress sleeve that I honestly couldn’t tell you how to divide up into single tattoos to count.“ The mention of colorful pants had Savannah’s nose scrunching up. She wasn’t out here trying to wear pastel colored cargo pants. “You might be able to convince me to get a few more colorful shirts but I’m not gonna wear jeans outside the black/blue/army green color scheme.”
Tumblr media
Marisol nodded, amused about how quickly the topic changed to tattoos. Obviously, she was passionate about them. At least it seemed like it. “Wow, I don’t think I could do tattoo’s, nevertheless that many tattoos to take up that much of my arm.” She laughed as Savannah denied her ability to get her to wear anything other than black, blue, or army green. “So you think, and how can you improve your closet if you’re so closed off to them?” She raised an eyebrow. “You're being prejudice to these poor colors. They could be some of the most flattering colors on you.”

“I think….I’m living in the moment as of now,” she said, although goodness knows that wasn’t entirely true. Because, if she were to be really honest, she could say that she was still confused. On what to do next, where to go… She envied her younger self who had a definite timeline of plans… But now.. Well, she just had to see what time and fate has in store for her. Abby was a bit surprised at Marisol’s question though. “Ready?” she echoed the word, frowning a bit, before shrugging in answer. “I dunno… Maybe not right now…”
Tumblr media
“Well that’s excellent, you wouldn’t want to be so worried about the future too much that you miss the present. Even if you’re stressed, which hopefully you’re not.”  she shrugged. “I learned the hard way, you can plan and stress but it won’t necessarily work out how you want.” Marisol nodded, maybe the girl wasn’t as planned as she had assumed. Though she had just assumed most people had already planned out. “That’s not bad” she assured. “At least you have an idea.” Though maybe it wasn’t as pat down as it could be, it was still an idea nonetheless.

James was again clueless as to what the brunette was talking about. He vaguely knew what silk was, but he had no idea what she meant with velvet. The first thing that came to mind was a cake his sister liked called red velvet, but he was sure that the brunette didn’t mean that. “Uh…” He was growing slightly embarrassed now, something that wasn’t usual in the blond man. Scratching one of his cheeks, James shook his head and grimaced. “I honestly don’t know what you mean,” he said, this time less rude and more serious. “I have never been very concerned about clothes.” That was surely the worse comment he could have said, but at least he was being honest.
Tumblr media
Marisol shook her head smiling, he didn’t catch it, then again she should have expected it. “I mean, guys do have it easier when it comes to clothing but come on, like nothing at all?” she laughed. “You don’t have sisters or like female friends who drag you out shopping with them?” Marisol asked. “You should get like a crash course in fashion, you never know, you could impress someone with your secret knowledge of tulle - I’m guessing you have no idea what that is either.”

“No one actually cares about the designer anyway, it’s about who models it. People would buy a literal garbage bag if Kendall Jenner was spotted in it,” he said, unamused, “Mob mentality. If you can get one person to like it, you can get them all. Again the only reason people have bought anything from Yeezy is because his wife wears it. And it’s not like she has a choice not to.”
Tumblr media
“That is true, sort of. Sometimes people do pay well over a thousand just for the name. The name Vera Wang goes very far, very fast.” Marisol shrugged. “People just assume someone else knows better or that they’re ahead of the trend and so everyone else needs to catch up. It’s a great business and way to make money. Hey, I kind of like Yeezy, they’re bringing back old fashion and pricing it high fashion prices. Well, he does help her pick out her clothes, which is cute.”
