Hand-crafted Halloween costumes!
Greetings all you Halloween-lovers! It's that time of year again, and who doesn't love an original, good old-fashioned, homemade costume?
Starting now, I am open to make Halloween costumes for adults, children, and infants! Feel free to bring in ideas, pictures, costume patterns, or whatever else best describes your ideal costume this year!
Below are some costumes I made from past Halloweens:
2014. Me (left) and my good friend, Rafael, (right) as Groot and Rocket, respectively from the film adaptation of Marvel's "Guardian's of the Galaxy."
Close-up and details.
Materials: Groot: drafted linen pants with snap closures; drafted linen top with back velcro closure and under-the-crotch snap closure; grocery bags for limb muscles and torso plates; cardboard for mask; elastic to secure moving mandible; khaki poly-cotton for muscle coverage; and paint for detail. Rocket: cotton and scrap fabric for jumper (double-breasted front velcro and snap closures); cardboard for mask; poly-fleece for hooded pullover (front velcro closure), legs (back velcro closure), and mask coverage; found faux-fur tail; and paint for detail.
2011. Me as Sally from "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
Materials: Scrap fabric for dress (draped and entirely hand-sewn, including back zipper closure).
2010. Me as Neytiri from James Cameron's "Avatar."
Materials: Body paint (self-applied); faux-suede cord, feathers, wooden and glass beads, and scrap fabric for jewelry and accessories (all handmade); scrap fabric and wire for loin cloth and tail.
