Is the Medieval Life mod compatible with Grim's Medieval Core, meaning: can you have them both at the same time?
Yep 😊

Hi! Remember some time ago I made a short post about making Rochelle (Tredony's emissary) a Queen using the trick you mentioned in one of your posts (adding profession on npc). Well, I decided to finally kill her off and... my game freaks out. Do you think there would be a way, a script/mod, that would allow a player to choose which monarch the game "sees" as the Kingdom's ruler? My game refuses to "see" Marric, the first Monarch I created, as my Kingdom's ruler (even though he is listed as Monarch in quests) - it's always Queen Rochelle, and when I make her gone, it just says I need to create another Monarch or use their son, age him up. I'm so frustrated... I married R and M around 6 missions ago, and replaying all that just makes me deflate lol I'd be grateful for any tips how to handle that "bug". Thank you!
Hi.
I looked at the code for how an heir is appointed - it checks whether there is a "Child and younger" in the current family at the time of the king's death.
I'll see if it's possible to create some kind of method that assigns an heir, but I'm not promising anything.
Now the only way to avoid losing, alas, is to make a child..

I'm sorry if someone has already downloaded it - I found an error in the code, the old people lost their actions. I have corrected the files, please redownload
Medieval Life 3.1
Tumblr media
A very major mod update.
The update includes all the new test functions, which I described in the blog, mainly the debugging mode was involved.
Changes:
New tabs in the command center "Time and Weather" and "Supernatural"
Time change - enter the number that will be added to the current number of hours.
Change of day - enter the number that will be added to the current number of days.
Week change - enter the number that will be added to the current number of weeks.
Weather Change - allows you to choose between 5 default weather types. The "Fantasy" weather has different shades for different lighting creators. Experiment to create a unique atmosphere of the kingdom! (Post about weather)
Become a ghost - allows you to turn into a ghost of one of 6 types. In this guise, Sims are immortal and their needs no longer fall. It is also available to children.
Become a Reaper - allows you to turn into a Reaper. In this guise, Sims are immortal and their needs no longer fall. It is also available to children. (About Reapers)
Become an Elf - turns Sims into elves. This is more of an external change, but also the skills of herbalism and geology are being added to the elves. (About elves, now not a blond)
Growing up:
1) If you have a child and you click on the "Grow up" button, then if the SIM is active, first of all you will receive a warning that you must first make it unselectable. (This is my workaround of the error that is in the original method from EA, because they did not provide that someone would play for children. The interface breaks if you don't do this)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) Then you will have a choice whether to assign him a profession. The child does not necessarily have to follow in the footsteps of the parent, you can choose any profession from the suggested ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3) The child grows up to a teenager and you receive a notification. (The teenager's slider will not work if the game is paused and the sim will align its height as soon as you take the game off pause)
Tumblr media
4) If you click on the grow up button when the sim is in the teenage stage, then it will grow to an adult and you will receive a notification about growing up. His height will become standard.
Tumblr media
5) If you click on the "Grow up" button as an adult, the sim's hair will turn gray and there will be a notification that the sim has aged.
Tumblr media
6) The last stage is death.
Tumblr media
Cons and the fact that I couldn't:
1) Wrinkles. They are not an overlay like in Sims 3. They are not a face slider and they are not a body slider. I don't understand who they are or what they are. They are definitely not a slider, rather like a makeup element with its own slider, but I don't know where to look for them. If someone can tell me, I will be glad to help. 2) Automating the process by counting down the days - I don't know if this is possible without hacking the kernel. 3) Growing up can take place with a delay of one to two seconds.
Eye file by Sauris and a teenage slider by Flower Bunny have been added to the archives. The eyes are hidden from the CAS, if you want them to be available, download the original of these eyes in the album.

Hey! I'm very happy with your progression in the sims medieval, I wonder if it would be difficult to implement automatic aging in the game? The grim core mod has an aging function, but it is manual, and it is a little complicated to track birthdays and for aging npc sims ❤️
Hello! It was the very first thing I tried, but I can't do it, it's really difficult. At least with my knowledge :(
But now that I've learned how to work with the appearance of Sims, I've managed to make a new method of growing up!
The first stage is a child. If you click on the "Grow up" button, then you will have a choice whether to assign him a profession or not. Then the Child grows up… into a teenager (altered height)
Tumblr media
If you click on the teenager again and select "Grow up" - Sim will become an ordinary tall adult.
Tumblr media
Then if you click "Grow Up" again, he will become elderly.
Tumblr media
When an elderly person grows up, he will die "of old age"
This is what I've been creating for the last few days, maybe not perfect and not automated, but I think it will be interesting for the gameplay :)

After the Reapers, I was carried away somewhere. I decided to create elves 😅
At the moment, there is their appearance:
Blonde hair for everyone (I'm still thinking about it)
Eyes are an overlay, the color is randomized when handled
Pointed ears and eyes, the prototypes were Sylvanas, Elves from Elder Scrolls and Legolas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the Sims turn, they get maximum herbalism and geology skills and a hidden character trait "elf".
Children can become elves, but without ears, because the slider does not perceive this. But they get eyes, hair, and genetics that will manifest as they grow up.
How do you like it externally? The common features of the Sims remain, but there are several distinctive features. Should I change my hair or let my hair stay the same color? Should any more facial features be sharpened, or is it enough?
Regarding the gameplay, it is still under development. I'm struggling with using custom traits and buffs.

Now I'm continuing to experiment with the possibilities of the game and the results that I liked - I want to include in my mod.
I decided to make two supernatural types "Reaper" and "Ghost"
These types are available to both adults and children:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When a sim becomes one of these types, the hunger and energy needs are frozen. They cannot be killed in a playful way
In their condition, they are preserved in any outfit
The Reaper can also be a ghost.

Also I came across an old topic on MTS about ladders and wanted to test their performance in my game.
And as it turned out, the stairs work great after placement, Sims autonomously choose them to shorten the path!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The original thread talks about a bug in which Sims fly off the stairs into the sky, but this did not happen for me. I think after installing ladders in non-standard places, you first need to save and check the routing

I tried to adjust the weather effects based on the old mod by cmomoney
And unfortunately, it all comes down to the fact that this game lacks the effects that are in the base Sims 3 game. I tried to copy all the files related to snow and rain, but the game stubbornly does not see them, even in the form of an effect over the sim's head 🤷
But the standard weather change of 5 types works and Stormy weather looks very magic, which I'm still thinking about how to call it prettier, at the moment it's Fantasy.
The weather is "Fog" and "Fantasy" with Nilxis lighting:

And with default game lighting:

You can switch between 5 types of weather, which are available by default. So far, this is all I've achieved from the weather :(

Hi! first of all huge thanks for your efforts because of you I decided to replay this forgotten gem again and you truly making The Sims Medieval awesome. I just wanted to ask is your "Medieval Life 3.0" compatible with "Autonomous Woohoo No Jealousy" mod? Since there are 4 different versions I'm specifically wondering "Forsaken+Shimrod_SocialsBothFullVersion".
Hi, it's very nice to hear! 💓💓💓
My mod is currently compatible with all other mods ^^

By the way, if we are talking about fonts, there is another visually unpleasant mistake - cutting words from above or below. There is such a bug both in Sims 3 and in the Medieval.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this happens to you and you are very annoyed - prefer full-screen mode to windowed mode or change the resolution to a lower one - the error will disappear immediately.

Increased font size
I think the font is a problem for many players. The bigger our screens are, the more difficult it is to read the text.
Tumblr media
I tried installing mods that increase the font from Sims 3, but the text just disappeared and the interface broke. That's why I made mine.
The main font size has been increased from 8.2pt to 9.5pt. It should work for all languages except hieroglyphs.

The update of Medieval Life 3.0
Tumblr media
The following functions have been added:
Build on a lot - the action directly opens the build mode on the lot you specified, without searching in the list.
Sell everything on the lot - an action in which everything that can be sold with one click.
Bulldoze the lot - this function is intended more for me than for you. I use it to explore the functions of the game, after which the world can break down. Use it only for testing
Information about the lot - displays basic information - Name, cost, size, themes for inspiration of the bard, how many deaths there were on the lot, when the lot was last edited, whether it is a wedding lot and whether this lot is available for invitations.
Reset Kingdom Progress - This feature resets all 4 kingdom stats and influence points. For those who play with downloaded kingdoms.
Added submenus in the command center "Lot…" and "Kingdom…"

A little construction trick
You can build in rooms teleporting to the second floor 👀 This adds a nice twist to the palace and helps to spend more money, of which millions have accumulated.
I put large arches in this place all over the wall to open a view of the room (they are in the doors)
Floors and walls are quietly changing, and other changes require Moveobjects code. I put real windows, lighting, paintings on the back walls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And another interesting feature: you can build a patio right through the wall, because technically it is still the first floor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can put fountains, trees and bushes there, the main thing is not too high, otherwise they will pass through the second floor.

As far as I know, these Sims are stored somewhere in the vault. Have you tried summoning them using the Watcher Hand mod?
Farewell to Marquis Chad
Remember ages ago (ok, it was like 9 months ago...) I wrote a lengthy post how, by using an existing Kingdom in a new ambition, I basically bugged my save? Yeah, so I thought I figured out what was causing it, took a gamble and... it's happening again.
After a break from the game, I recently came back to it.
Replaying about three quests again, this time in my initial ambition (thinking it will prevent Unique Sims from being purged), I've noticed it was happening again. I again lost Cartographer and Marquis Chad, and a bunch of others.
There was no replacing a kingdom in a save, starting a new ambition with fully developed Kingdom. It was the same freakin' ambition, New Beginning.
But!
I suspected it was because I added hero to my active household and removed him, but game still rolled responsibilities for him (it was Blacksmith) that he kept not fulfilling - because idk, game thought he was an active hero still, or autonomy doesn't apply to responsibility quests? - and all those random npc the game spawned just clogged the save.
So, I removed responsibilities from rolling by a cheat code and all seemed to be fine. Even if I added extra hero to the active household and removed him minutes later? No daily quests, no spawned npcs, no problem.
For four quests!
But that ended today. I started a new quest with my Bard and my game started purging all of my favourite Unique Sims - I lost Marquis Chad (f*ucking tears, man), Druidessa Amelia and Cartographer Fernando (even tho, both of them are my Surgeon's "love interests")... A bunch of rando villagers just rushed from the Village, and... guys, I'm bummed.
Nothing seems to be helping preventing Unique Sims to be removed from your Kingdom, no matter if you play one ambition all the time, or try using a new one with existing save. Responsibilities on or off, doesn't matter. I think it just happens, maybe some quests trigger the purge? Maybe it's tied to Kingdom's aspect? Or it's all my fault for messing with active households. I don't know. But, now I have a bunch of naked/badly dressed random villagers spawn each day through the Shoppe's gate, and... ugh. I like The Sims Medieval, I do, but I'll either continue with my Kingdom, ignoring the missing Sims, or... I'm done. 😞
