"This person has a secret onlyfans!" "This artist does NSFW commissions!" "This author writes porn on the side!" I cannot begin to tell you how swag and awesome that is.

🔹 Saying that it's okay to write or read about dark and taboo topics but only when they're portrayed in a certain way is still censorship.
🔹 Wanting to ban or forbid media that you believe portrays a negative topic in a positive light, by glorifying, romanticizing, or fetishizing it is still censorship.
🔹 There is no objective metric to decide if a story is portraying a negative topic the 'right' way.
🔹 Just because a piece of fiction doesn't explicitly condemn or portray an evil action in a bad light in the text doesn't mean the author thinks its good or is trying to persuade the audience that it is good.
🔹 Survivors of trauma will not always write fiction about their trauma in a way that seems 'right' or 'normal' to you.
🔹 Banning fiction because it portrays dark, taboo topics in a way you consider gross or disgusting is still censorship.

the "came back wrong" trope except like... they didnt. like this mad scientists wife died, and so he studied necromancy, brought her back, and she came back and it all worked. like she came back exactly the same as she was before with literally no difference. but the scientist guy is like "oh no... what have i done.... shes Different now!!!! she came back Wrong!!!!" and shes just like. chilling. reading a book. cooking dinner. shes just so so normal but in the guys mind hes like "oh shes soooo weird" but shes just normal

Far worse, in my opinion, than the famous “he wouldn’t fucking say that” is “he WOULD fucking say that, as part of his facade, but you seem to think he would mean it genuinely”

I'm convinced it was a tragedy that tumblr learned the phrase "bury your gays" at the exact same time it decided that any fictional media darker than Landlord White was pearl-clutchingly problematic. Pouring one out for every creator of earnest LGBT+ media wanting to explore the themes of grief loss and tragedy who then got subsequently hounded by mobs of terminally online users brainrotted on nothing but conflict-free coffee shop AUs.

also to anyone whoever tries to say the movie was better than the show - you're an idiot and lowkey gross.
whenever people try to gas up the movie it's either one somewhat funny line delivery (this is a pen) or the scene where the underage main characters get high on lotus flower drugs while a suggestive song plays in the background.
you know it's really funny looking back at the complaints on episode 6 of the percy jackson tv series. and by funny, i mean annoying.
"they should be doing more "show don't tell!!"" as if this fandom isn't full of illiterate idiots. like episode 6 didn't have the best example of "show don't tell" and the coolest change from book to tv.
people were so whiny about the changes in episode 6 that i have yet to see anyone point out that Hermes sabotaged the quest
Hermes sabotaging the quest, and Percy deciding to keep going is frankly such a cool way of incorporating Book 5 stuff into the first season.
In Book 5, Hermes states that he does care about Luke but he is helpless to change his fate. And then translating that into Hermes making the trio fail the lightning thief quest - showing how Hermes tries to protect Luke from discovery - and Percy forging on with the quest regardless of their failure - showing how Luke's fate cannot be changed or avoided.
now *that* is a good example of show (tv) don't tell (book)
a callback to this in season 5 would be sick as hell

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a slapping,
As of some one gently flapping, flapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some fairy,” I muttered, “slapping at my chamber door—
            Only this and nothing more.”

i actually dont think there's anything funnier than people watching a show or whatever bc they heard it allegedly had gay people in it then getting upset when it includes incredibly normal genre specific tropes that they personally dont like, like maybe you should have checked that before you watched it king and then they get mad at the show for being the show that it is instead of embracing it for what it is. like I'm so sorry that axe murderer 30000 had axe murderers in it and didnt have a happy ending and was really violent but i do think there are some context clues around it that could have let you pick up on that
